I am back living at The Village Apartments after "house sitting" for a friend the last two years. Previously, I lived at The Village for almost six years. I enjoyed my experience here....that's why I came back. The management was very helpful in finding me the apartment size and location, along with the price that I was looking to pay. The staff was excellent in making minor modifications that I wanted to my apartment. I was glad to see that the grounds were still maintained as beautiful as they were when I last lived here. It is also obvious that the complex has been painted since I was away and it looks great. All in all I am very satisfied with my decision to move to The Village Apartments.

I have lived here for two years and although I have experienced nothing but friendly, helpful, and positive interactions with the staff, including the maintenance staff who were great with the one or two minor problems I had, I will not be renewing my lease for several reasons. First of all, I have lived in several apartment communities over the years and for the price, the overall quality of the apartments inside and the amenities are not worth the rates. I have lived in places with standard garden tubs, play places for kids, and huge pools for less. Secondly, one of the main reasons I am leaving is the worst neighbors of probably any building. I repeatedly had cigarette butts fall down onto my porch, beer cans and trash in front of the building, loud conversations after midnight in the parking lot and shouted up to the porch as well as ongoing loud voices and ridiculously obnoxious music from above weeknights & weekends at all hours. Then there was the inevitable 6:30 am thumps down the stairs of other upstairs people going to work or school (which I realize couldn't be helped but was noisy nonetheless). I eventually moved from the master bedroom to a back bedroom, but still had many a sleepless night. Parking is also not very good on most occasions. There really should be assigned spots for actual residents, so the 5 people visiting one apartment don't take up all the spots in front and force others to carry groceries from two buildings down. Too many people don't pick up after their dog and there is no way to enforce that. It is pet friendly, but not necessarily kid friendly. The leasing manager does incorporate community activities and hosted a variety of events for neighbors to get to know each other and the location is great, unfortunately that did not outweigh my bad luck with neighbors and the yearly increase in rent.

I have lived here for over 5 years and have enjoyed my apartment. There have been some changes in the staff over the years and have to say the ones there now are pretty good. I have had to wait a few days to get my maintenance problems fixed but I really do like the guys they really seem to care. The office ladies have been there for a while and are very pleasant when I come into the office. Springtime is the best time of year here! You could not ask for a prettier location to live! The new Wholefoods right around the corner is great!

Went to go see the apartments a few weeks ago. The pictures on their website are VERY misleading! Apartments are WAY over priced. Kitchen and bathroom are outdated, the bathroom had pink tile for crying out loud! When looking at the "repairs" made, it's obvious they just cover the problem not necessarily fix it. If looking for a quality apartment look elsewhere. For the record I am not a pessimistic apartment owner. I am just an apartment owner like you and forewarning you to not expect the apartment to look just like the pictures online. If you enjoy paying for an overpriced apartment with an outdated kitchen and bathroom The Village is the right place for you!

It is upsetting as I review a few of these misleading reviews. I have lived at this porperty for almost 4 years and have had nothing but a pleasant experience here- as well as all of the neighbors that I have had over the years!! I don't have anything negative to say about the staff, they have always offered the most help when I request it- my maintenance problems are addressed ASAP, and the grounds continue to be very well taken care of on a daily basis. I previously lived at a complex very nearby and had a less than enjoyable stay, which is why I transferred my living situation over to The Village. I can see where one negative experience might lead someone to come on and put a nasty remark in heat of the moment, but I just thought it would be nice to express how positive my experience has been, because I believe that mine is more representative of the other residents in general! -Happy Since 2009

Think twice before signing away to rent here! We had nothing but problems the whole time we there on several issues. The A/C broke down 6 times before they agreed to replace it, we fought for over 6 months regarding the water bill not reading accuratley. We could have filled a swimming pool every month for the amount of water they said we were using. Only after NOT paying the water bill did they finally look into the matter and discovered it was in fact a bad meter. To put a dagger in us, was were fortunate enough to find a home before the lease was up so we made them aware and did everything in our power to leave the apartment spotless and easy to re-rent. On checkout inspection with the manager of the property, I was informed that they infact had a renter and so we would not have to bear burden of 2 rents for another month. They never rented it and now are charging us backrent, electric, etc....... We were never told it wasn't rented! Please do your homework before ultimately choosing to be miserable here and watch or those hidden fee's!

Can't say anything but GREAT things about this place!
I have lived at The Village for a year now.. which I believe is a Greystar property, just maybe has not been changed on here from Korman??? Anyways..I HAVE NEVER FELT MORE AT HOME! I did not even think twice about looking elsewhere when renewal time came around. I was new to the area for a job relocation. I looked around at places the week before on a Thursday after my interview but did not have much time before heading back to Greenville. Came back to the area on a Sunday, when I almost lost hope with not many complexes being open to take tours. I just so happened to pass The Village and they were open! Thank goodness I did! I loved everything about it! Not only is it in a prime location, walking distance to everything you could need.. the staff was so friendly and helpful. That made it even more reassuring to move to a new town after accepting the job offer. They have been just as friendly and helpful as they were day one... 12 months later! The fact that they are open on the weekends shows how accommodating they are for you, 7 days a week! The maintenance team, awesome awesome awesome. They will do everything and anything they possibly can to fix what you need fixed. I would recommend The Village to anyone looking for a place to live in Raleigh! Thanks to enjoying them, I am happy with my job, my new friends and the decision I made to relocate :)

Think twice before living here!
When you move out make sure the carpets are cleaned. It's worth paying a carpet cleaner. If not, you'll get a $1000 bill in the mail when you move out. Thanks Village Apartments for screwing me over.

I had to edit my review and after living here for almost a year now, my experience has not been good. I've had not only a roach in my apartment, but mice as well. The rent is ridiculously high for somewhere that is not really a "luxury" apartment. Staff is alright, but the apartments themselves are nothing to write home about. The breezeways remained dirty for the most part with cigarettes and random beer cans, my neighbors were extremely loud above me. They tack on every fee imaginable as well. I have decided not to renew my leave for 2013 and have opted to move into a better apartment (closer to my job as well) inside and out that includes cable and a washer and dryer. No more walking to the laundry center for me. Oh, and they wanted to increase my base rent exponentially for the next year. Crazy.

The one negative outweighs the positive
The Village is in a great location, has a helpful staff and offer roomy apartments. However, the German Cockroach infestation is disgusting and out of control. I called the office and an exterminator was sent from Lowe's but within 3 weeks the nasty bugs reappered. I was horrified having come from a house with no bug infestation. Now I was dealing with killing large gross roaches! I ended up buying and spraying a spray from Home Depot at my own expense which was has been somewhat successful so far. I will not be renewing my lease and I'd recommend others to look elsewhere.

Great location!
I have lived at The Village for 1 year and I have not had any major problems. The location is absolutely wonderful. You can walk to the grocery store, pharmacy, and restaurants. There are sidewalks all around which are great for walking and running. I never had an issue with neighbors being loud, parking or bugs. I am only moving because the rent price went up and I cannot afford my apartment by myself. I do hate reading the other reviews others left saying they had a bad experience because my experience at The Village has been great. The only two things I didn't like were being forced to rent a washer & dryer. When I moved in I was told that my unit already had a washer & dryer that I had to rent because they couldn't remove the machines. And, I didn't appreciate the Trash Valet only because I didn't think that I should be forced to pay $25 per month for someone to come get my trash when I'm capable of taking it myself. I understand that the Trash Valet is probably convenient for most people but I thought it was a waste of money. Other than those two very minor issues I really enjoyed living here.

HORRIBLE
The Village Apartments off six forks was HORRIBLE. My husband and I had an apartment above people that partied all night until 4 in the morning. We filed numerous complaints and nothing was ever done. Cops were called on them at least three times. They would fight all night and scream at each other. The girl actually would run around the apartment complex naked and almost ran into my husband and I. All of this was filed and nothing ever happened so we decided to break our lease and move out. We just couldn't take it anymore and the management was terrible since they could not make any changes. Now i have learned to do research before i decide to move. BE AWARE. The wood outside our door was rotting. Also, we had maintenance come into our apartment to fix our door and of course, that was never done. Also be aware that the pet deposit for an animal for the villages is free and clear money to them, it does not cover anything. I would never recommend this apartment complex to anyone.

Great place for the most part!
I have enjoyed living at The Village, for the most part. My roommate and I have been here since June 2010 and I while I wanted to renew my lease, they upped the price so much that I've decided to leave. We have had a few maintenance issues, and while they always respond quickly, they don't always resolve the issue right away. The office staff are pretty nice and welcoming. They try to make you feel comfortable and treat you well, regardless of age/race/etc (unlike many other places in the area!). When I first visited The Village, I expected it would be a great place to live. One issue I've found is that sometimes, near my building, there isn't quite enough parking on the weekends. There is, however, plenty of storage space (linen closets, kitchen cabinets, bathroom storage, etc.) and the apartments are very spacious and bright. It's a nice and fairly quiet community, although you will hear kids playing outside from time to time.

Great Place with excellent customer service
I have been at The Village Apartments for 6 years now. The location is great. I can walk to just about anything. I came across this site while trying to refer a friend to live here. The 2nd friend that might end up living here. It kinda saddened me to read some of these post. My experiences with the staff has been great and very positive. Anytime I have a issues the maintenance is in my apartment to repair it in the 1st 24 hours. The office staff actually called me to see if it was fixed. I can't remember the last time that happened at the places I lived before. The new manager lori, has made a big difference. She has started having community events almost every other month so that we can all get together and meet our neighbors. Its nice to know that not only does this staff want to take care of the property, they also don't mind hanging around with residents after work for events. There are some new faces in the office I have noticed, but they have clearly made me welcome. If you are looking for a good property, that is well maintained, I can tell you The Village is the place to be. My lease is up in October, and I don't plan on going anywhere.

nightmare
Worst 10 months of apartment living I have ever experienced. I still have 5 mos. To go and it's a nightmare. I have 25 work orders to prove it. Mice, roach, spider problems (multiple times each). Leaks, holes, HORRIBLE heating in 2 of the 3 rooms. Have been given the choice to break lease, but would have to leave my 2 roommates with the financial burden. NOT OKAY. I woule not recommend this property to anyone.

An older, affordable, safe and generally nice aparment with the expected drawbacks
Let me say first that I'm fine with where we live. YES there is way too much dog poop in the grass. Having children its impossible to let them walk on the grass. I do wish the management would do more about the poop. Like post fliers on the buildings asking them to pick it up or make them sign something agreeing to a fine if they leave it on the grass. Also, because there are so many dogs here if you open your winds to get fresh air you will smell either dog poop or a wet dog/kennel smell. My MAIN problem with the Village is something they call TRASH VALET. Its a $20 extra charge they put on your water bill. I didn't understand from the staff's explanation that it is a mandatory charge and not optional. Basically I have to pay $20 for a truck to come around and take my trash from outside my door in the breezeway during certain hours and that truck simply dumps it in the community dumpster. I personally don't like the idea of putting garbage outside my door - usually people want to avoid that - and the hours don't work for me. Someone had a bright idea to scam apartments out of money by offering to collect the garbage once a day rather than allowing residents to walk it to the dumpster lie normal people. If you don't want trash valet don't rent here. I really think its unfair. I throw away $240 a year away for nothing. There are NOT too many kids running around here like other reviewers have said. If you don't like the sounds of children then you might need to go live in the middle of no where. This is Raleigh, people have kids. Get over it. One day if you have any children you will understand. Anyway, other than that the apartments are simple and relatively clean. I was disappointed to find that mice can get into the kitchen from the outside somehow. I wasn't expecting that and its upsetting. We have had many ant problems but they must have exterminated outside because it seems to have gone away. It seems like a very safe area. Its walking distance to many grocery stores, banks, restaurants and some shopping. There are not a ton of apartments around, mostly houses. Its very close to the 540. Its an older apartment so nothing fancy but its definitely comfortable. The other thing I have to say is that I rarely hear my neighbors unless they are in the breezeway or talking loudly on their balcony. I hear very little through the walls and except for the children above us who must be jumping off furniture, I don't hear much. Overall this was a great find for us and the rent is affordable.

Not Honest from the Start
We had a great experience shopping for apartments. The Village has a wonderful location, the landscaping is wonderful but my wife and I have had a lot of poor experiences with the management. For starters they lost our check for our first month's rent and started filing an eviction notice with the City of Raleigh, without calling us. I asked them why they wouldn't call us first and they replied with, "That's Policy." It was their fault we the check was lost but we had to suffer the beginnings of eviction. Before we started renting our first question was what happens if we break our lease? They told us that as long as it was re-rented nothing would matter. Now that we are vacating early and it IS re-rented already, they are making us pay 2 months rent in addition to our 1 month rent of the month we are leaving. This is not stated ANYWHERE in the lease agreement, but they said, "That's Policy." See a trend? Now the VIllage is taking 3 months rent from us and the new tenents will be paying rent. I'm really unhappy about renting at this apartment complex and wish they would have been up front with us about vacating early from the beginning.

CHILD AND PET PARK
THE GOOD: First off the office staff is wonderful, the maintenance people are very quick to take care of problems. I never had issues with pest. THE BAD: Neighbors for the most part are obnoxious so are there kids. The kids run around like animals on weekends and any other day that they are not in school (ALL SUMMER LONG) and they wake up early to do so. If anyone smokes in your building you will smell it, travels right through the walls. The garbage disposal in the kitchen is clog prone so make sure you have a plunger for your kitchen. The parking is no good people have guest all the time and you end up parking 5 minutes away from your apartment. This is a noisy community as aforementioned the kids are running around, little girls with there high pitch voices screaming for what reason I DO NOT KNOW, boys hollering. There is a dog kennel located very close by and the dogs in there just bark there heads off. THE BIRDS I know the community cannot do any thing about them but just warning you there are a lot of loud squawking birds they crank up just before the sun comes up. THE UGLY: DOGS, don't get me wrong I love dogs but not there poop. The community is good about providing bags for folks to pick up after their pets but most don't. I know there are times when a poopie cannot be picked up but the ones I have stepped in have been solid and camouflage which is why I stepped on it in the first place. The say that there are breed restrictions however there are PIT BULLS and PIT BULL MIXES in this community and I have seen the with out a leash (and other breeds as well). There are a lot of dog owners in this community. There are some that will let there animal go right on the side walk. Then you have the occasional neighbor that lets there animal go right in the house any where "Pick a spot Fido". That smell comes through the wall too. DO NOT WALK IN THE GRASS rest assured you will step in a pile and it does not come off easy in fact I threw away two pair of shoes because after getting it (poopie) cleaned off, my shoes still smelled like the stuff. Summary: If you are a negligent pet owner, have children, smoke or any two out of the three listed you will be very happy here.

7 Years strong and just signed for another 6 months..until my house is ready
The Village Apartments and the office staff have been wonderful to me. Shelly and Michelle in the office are the greatest, they are very attentive, patient and most of all they care about their tenants. The property grounds are always maintained and the property gives you a feel that you are not in the city but almost somewhere in a nice country side setting. My neighbors are quiet and friendly. The rent is a little high (but hey..... I have been here 7 years so I expected it to go up some) So if your looking for a apartment and also a community, I would recommend The Village Apartments.

Wonderful Place
I've lived here for over two years. My husband and I are planning on moving after our lease is up, but only because we're ready to move into a house of our own. This place has been fantastic. We still have close to a year left on our lease, but I feel very comfortable reviewing it now. My previous apartment has a rating of 40-something percent on this site, which I completely agree with (It was a slummy place!) When I searched for the village and saw 52% I was appalled! This place is so much better than that! I would personally give it a 92. A lot of the complaints that I've seen have to do with money/rent/breaking your lease. But this place is not any different than any other apartment complex on that matter- If you pay your rent, you will have no problems. Another frequent complaint that I've seen is maintenance/workers entering your apartment without your consent. I have never seen this happen. I always have gotten a letter stating that they will be entering and they tell you the date and timeframe. I have gotten slips that maintenance has been there, but only after I called them about something. I feel like people rating the apartments are giving the wrong impression that people are coming and going through your apartment as they please, and that is entirely untrue. They have always been great with repairs, and this is the only apartment I've ever lived in where I actually knew someone's name who worked in the office (Shelly- and she's awesome, in case they read this.) The only complaint that I have is small- I wish the closets were bigger. I would highly recommend this apartment complex to anyone. I love living here as much today as the day we moved in.

great place to live
I have lived here now for 3 months and am enjoying it very much. I relocated here aboout 4 months ago and was very nervous about finding the right place for me and my cat since we had never lived in an apartment before. The place has been nothing but great surprises since we moved in. The office people are great(Scott especially) and the maintenance guys are always on the job. I would recommend this place to anyone. A great place to live.

parking, what parking. and those barking dogs.......
I have lived here a year and a half. My husband and I have ONE car and can NEVER get a parking space. There is one tenant in our building with 3 vehicles and a garage. Needless to say, he doesn't park any of the vehicles in his garage unit. We told the management about it and of course, nothing was done. When we toured the property prior to moving in, we did notice the barking dogs and of course we were told that the barking was minimal. Every Saturday at 8 am, we awake to barking dogs. Oh, and there is nothing like the smell of smoke that comes through the apartment from the neighbor below. The lights in the stairwell are ALWAYS out!!!

I've only been here for a few months and I really enjoy it here. The management staff is nice and friendly. When I first moved in I had one issue that required a service call and within a few hours it was handled. I love the layout of my new home. Its quiet and peaceful. The neighbors are friendly as well. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thats looking for something upscale and worth the money.

Great Community for the price
I have lived here fro 3 years and have had my fair share of apartments and this has been one of the best. I just wanted to write about a recent experience that I had living here that made me feel compelled to write a review. My mother was really sick and I needed to move her here with me from up north. My apartment was to small so I wanted to transfer to a 2BR. I had to pay a transfer fee but they gave me a great deal on a 2BR. I know its not much but they really cared about helping me out and I really appreciated them making my situation feel important. Keep up the good work.

I have only been living here for about 5 months and I have read some of the comments left by people on this website. DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM. The apartments are extremely roomy, the maintenance staff has fixed any issues I have had within a day or two and the office staff always remembers my name. I have lived in plenty of apartments and this one is by far my favorite. I would recommend it to anyone who asks.
