Horrible place to call home
I currently live in Hatfield village. I“ve been there for 3 months and have had nothing but problems. I should have know it was going to be bad when the cable guy told me they call the complex the zoo. I had a problem with a leaky ceiling right above my shower and toilet. It took them 4 weeks to fix the problem even with the ceiling falling in. When i finally got the issue fixed they told me they weren“t obligated to compensate me in anyway. Then a week after they came in to spray the appartment for roaches i found one. The walls are paper thin and can hear every movement from your neighbors. Even my bank which is 45 minutes away told me to get out of the complex as soon as possible because it“s known for high crime and drugs. I wouldn“t advise renting at this complex even if they gave you free rent. It“s comforting to know that the maintaince guys when attempting to fix my celing told me that the whole complex is old and falling apart and that management is doing just what it needs to get by. Who says that to a tenent?

I just moved in and found the staff to be extremely helpful. In fact, they helped me get my renters insurance, have my eletric, cable and telephone services started and even directed me to the nearest health food store (I“m a health food nut), Freshfields at Route 309 and 63. If you never lived here as you indicated, what gives you the right to rate the entire place, i.e. noise and safety as you would have no first hand knowledge. Sounds to me like you didnt get what you wanted and this is sour grapes. For the record, your accusation of a less than proffessional atmosphere seems to only exist on your behalf, especially since you are the person who has resorted to name calling, and if the man was such a moron as you state, what exactly does that make you? I was just in the rental office, which is staffed by prodominately females and only one male all of whom have no beards, so I have to ask you, what property were you at?
And finally my last question to you is where did you attend school or did you at all? Because your spelling and grammar is ATROCIOUS!!!!!

They don“t even care about their business. Never mention yours.
Actually I didn“t live in this partment at all. I was looking for 2 bedroom apartment, and find this one from Apartmentfinder. The room is very big, and the proce is raletively fair. But the staffs in the lease office are terrible.

When we were there, they just ignored us as their customer. No one was willing to show us the model room, but chatting with each other. They just said "the model room is cross the hall, go to check by yourself". We were interested in the two bedroom because it“s very big, so we told those guys we want to take a look at a real room before we sign the lease. The moron with beard insist us paying 70$ first to make the appointment to check the real room, and this is not refundable if we don“t take the room. And refused to show us the room at that time, because he thought it was too late to do so. which BTW was just about 4:20pm. They treat their potential customer this way, I can not image how they treat their tenants. And they don“t care about if you want to sign the lease or not. It looks to me those guys were fighting with ther emplyor, just don“t want their empleyor to get more business.

Later, one friend told us, they have very bad reputation at that area. I feel very lucky not paying the apointment fee to check the room.

Nice place but be CAUTIOUS about LEASE
Nice place, clean, quiet, lots of amenities, laundry inside every apartment, nice tennis courts, and even a decent pool

Price unbeatable

The scully company is nortorious for its lease policy. If you dont tell them, 3 months before your lease is up, they will automatically renew it for another year!! The only way to get out is to live for 3 months more and pay four months of rent! That“s a $650 loss!! This happend to me because I was just 5 days late to tell them I do nt want to renew. Thats 85 days before my lease was up!!
New Homeowner
Thanks for the years. It was clean and descent and enabled me to save enough money to buy my first home. I hope my home is as hassle free as my apartment was, I“ve heard the homeownership nightmares and just recently watched the movie “The Moneypit“. Thanks to the staff for their professionalism.

Affordable clean living
For a place with over 1,000 apartments, my philosophy is gee only a few disgruntaled residents......those seem like fantastic odds to me...after all I bet those who got charged deserved it......I lived there for 5 years and never had a problem infact because it was so affordable I now reside in my dream house.....I got my security deposit back in full...MY ADVICE .....VISIT IT YOURSELF AND FORM YOUR OWN OPINION!!!!!

A Great Place to Call Home!
I“ve lived in Hatfield Village Apartments for almost 13 years and I must say that it is the greatest place to call home. I have never had a bad experience and like everywhere else in the world, no where is perfect, but they do their best to accomadate you in every way. Iv“e looked elsewhere to move because my new employment is further out, but I rather take the long trip home to Hatfield Village Apartments! The customer service is priceless! I have never seen an office with great leasing agents and managers. I just want to say that this is certainly a great place to live!
I LOVE HATFIELD VILLAGE APARTMENTS!!!

they charge you when you move out
Watch out! Your security deposit may be gone when you move out. They claimed that there were two stains on the carpet in my apartment. They actually showed me photos and the stains appeared big. However, I didn“t notice them the whole time I lived there. So I went back to my apartment to see. Both spots are of only quarter size! One of the two was almost invisible! They charged $75 per spot! The management and maintenance gave me the usual BS such as "this is our policy, we can“t do anything." So be careful while living there and moving out.

I agree!! My apartment is nice!
I moved in to a sparkling clean apartment. My kitchen was spotless, including the oven and the refrigerator! The carpet in my apt is in great condition and a week after I moved in, the hallway was painted and new carpet was put down. The only thing I had to "put up with" was the new carpet smell for about 2 weeks. My neighbor across the hall is of indian decent and believe me the white male who lives next to me makes "smellier" meals than she. I“ve had a couple of minor maintenance problems with my ac and the pipes in the bathroom, but when I contacted the maintentance department, they arrived that day and when I got home from work the problem was fixed! I“ve used the pool area and the life guards and the other residents are very friendly. The winter clean up is quick and my walkway is cleared before I leave for work at 7 am. The bug problem, I“ve seen two centipeds the entire year I lived there and they were normal sized. I squashed them and flushed them down the toilet. The rent is reasonable, the other residents in my apartment building are quiet. I“ve been there a year and I“ve "bumped" into about three people in the hallway. I do agree that some residents do drive fast, but that is not the apartment“s doing, it“s a few bad people who don“t care. The area is safe, as the police department is right next to us. I“ve never had a problem with parking or having anyone dent my car or steal anything from my car while I was unpacking it. As I said the residents in my area are very friendly and helpful. My rent was not raised $20, a year, it was however raised $10 and if you live there for more than two years, you get a discount. I never had a problem with a $75 dollar fee being charged, probably because I pay my rent on time and I make sure that when my apartment is going to be inspected, and we are notified well in advance, to make sure everything is accessible. If you are looking for an apartment ask for the AG apartment area. I live on the third floor in AG2.

Believe the reviews
I“ve lived here for 3 yrs (Thank God I“m leaving in Jan 2003)! I first month or so was nice. They even replaced the toilet right away after the base had cracked. After that, things went downhill very fast. I sustained water leaking from my ceiling in Feb 2001. It was fixed, but there still has been a hole there since (even after 5 - 6 phone calls wondering why). The sink has been leaking, which is an understatement, more like running, for 5 months, no one came to check it. Again, after repeated phone calls. During my third summer, I finally got a new air conditioner to replace the one that froze over in year #1 and blew warm air in year #2! However, that was after I threatened to contact the Hatfield Housing Authority. Expect a $20 a month rent increase every time you renew your contract. They have a habit of charging you $75 for everything (e.i. - late rent, not moving things if they are coming in to do "radom mandatory inspections", etc). I would like to charge them a $75 per month late fee for the ceiling, air-conditioner and windows that they promised to put in before I moved in. I finally got them one and a half years later (I sure do miss watching my blinds blow out on windy days when my windows are closed). If you have children or can“t walk fast, stay away. The speed limit through the complex is 50 MPH, even though the signs read 15 MPH, and you don“t have to stop anywhere because YOU don“t have the right of way...the other person ALWAYS does. Come in with a new, undented car and leave with a dented piece of crap. Just tell your kids when they are standing at the bus stop to watch out for the cars, apparently kids are 50 points if you hit them. The centipedes are a“plenty, especially if you like the 5 inch long size (NO, I“m not making this up). And, if you still decide to move in, have someone watch your vehicle as you unload it. I have already had 3 EMPTY boxes stolen off the back of my pickup. And I was only gone enough time to run up one flight of steps, open my door, put a box down and come back. If people are willing to steal an empty box...Good luck!!!!

Don“t listen to the bad reviews on this site
Hatfield Village is the first apartment for us, and so far we are satisfied. It is moderately affordable(and that“s for two kids barely out of their teenage years), in a safe suburban area, close to shopping, and nicely maintained. We checked out the ratings on this site on all the apartments we previewed and I read the complaints about the "many centipedes," but most of those people are exaggerating because they have nothing better to do but complain about things that really aren“t a big deal. True, I have seen a centipede or two before in my place once, but remember, pests is a common problem that many apartments have. My parents“ house in the country has more ants in the kitchen in summertime than bugs I“ve seen in our apartment so far. Overall, the apartment is kept very nicely. Surprisingly, the actual apartment looked exactly the same as the sample, but minus all the adornment and decoration. We entered it with new carpets, new oven, and overall a clean, neatly painted place. It isn“t perfect and it does have the floor creaks in the hallway and the chore of dragging furniture up two sets of stairs to our spot on the third floor, but for $650/month, what do people want?! It feels very new and spacious for two people. It isn“t any worse than any other place would be. Now, if you want to hear about a place that“s small, dusty, has paper-thin walls, snobby Resident Directors 4 doors down, and the price is outta its highschool-classroom-style-tiled roof, here“s a place for you: Try living in a college DORM. I lived at a dorm at Arcadia U for a whole year and that“s why I got out. Basically I paid $8300 for eight months outta the year for a tiny room shared with two other people(but originally built for only one other person), but meanwhile I sacrificed my own room at home to my 10-yr-old little sister, which was slightly bigger than the shared dorm. The living room alone in our 1-bedroom apartment is much bigger than that dorm. That means that the college made $1,000/month off each of us gullible college students, that“s $3000/month profit made off a little room complete with yes, occasional insects, poor air circulation, NO carpet, and crappy Aramark food that costed cheaper to buy the meals separately than together in a meal plan. Now comparing THAT to life at Hatfield Village, well you can see how good of a deal you“re getting. I recommend the place to college students, it“s a lot cheaper to live there year-round and commute to school than to live on the campus for only 8 months. The place is okay, don“t mind the complaints too much.

affordable housing
I have traveled extensively and found the accomodations at Hatfield Village to be both reasonable and affordable. It is a very large complex with nicely manicured grounds. I enjoyed the fitness room and pool and tennis courts on those rare days off. I found that the buildings were generally clean. You can“t beat it for the money and I shopped around. Although I only lived here for a short time I would say it“s worth the look.

Keep Away If You Can
OK, is not so bad, not the best one around but not even the worst, for the money you can find something better...
Now, lets see the bad things....
noise..too much, the walls are pratically inexistent, you can ear your neighbour talking at the phone
floor squeak too much (second floor), and is poorly finished, you can feel some “holes“ under the carpet
the walls are poorly build, some crack around the house(hope they don“t get any worse)
paint job inside the apartment could have been done a little better, especially if the ask you 50$ when u leave the apartment (3 months advice) for repainting
parking is not a big problem if u have one car and don“t come home after 9/10pm
the recyling unit (just one) is not so close to each apartment and you have to find it by yourself, no road sign for it
still have to check the pool, bu the fitness center is not too bad, just few equipment insufficient for all the tennants
laundry card (1.25 each wash machine and dryer cycle)
kitchen appliance are old but still do their job
maintenance is not too bad, they answer in almost 24 hours...
overall: is there“s nothing better around, get it, but if you have a chance for going somewhere else...well take that chance

Not too Bad
Good sized rooms (3 bedroom apartment)
Detail work, not very well done. (kitchen)
Squeaky floors.
Centipedes 5-7 from spring to summer. No other bugs, vermin.
Laudry cards, pool fee and other fees inserted after signing.

horrid
Maintenance is nearly non existent. The maintenance workers themselves are, for the most part, pleasant and would like to do a good job. However, management fails them and fails the tennant. Apartments leak, smell, and have horrible mold problems, especially on the first floor, where the apartment is partially underground. My bathroom ceiling caved in, leaving bugs and insulation all over my entire bathroom. They patched the ceiling, but never came back to finish the job. I would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone, especially anyone with children.

Maintenance
Maintenance Response is non-existant. It takes forever to get someone to look at something. My ceiling is falling in due to rain water from a leaky roof. They still havent fixed it and dont know when they can... it is a nightmare... my apartment consists of funriture piled in corners and buckets to catch the water....

Bad quality construction
Nice setting and amenities. Good maintenance. Very affordable appartments. The bad part is that you can hear everything from the other appartments. They have paperwalls. The units are humid, very bad insulation, and they get extremely hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
