One of the Best!
From someone who has moved to a new apt complex every 6 mths to a yr, 535 Brookwood, is one of the best! I've had the option of living in 2 different buildings and floor plans. The office staff are great! The grounds are well kept! The complex amenties are great and well maintained! My dislikes were the dogs of others, some people don't use a leash and others can't control their dog on a leash. Then, there are the doggy landmines from people choosing not to clean up after their dog. I'm still waiting on that luxury community that has a no-pet policy... Another thing I experienced was spiders and beetles, but this seemed to be a problem only on the bottom units. I requested pest control to combat this and did some of my own bug control also... Lastly, like most newer apartments in Greenville County, you'll hear the thuds and booms above and below you. Fortunately tho, I've had good neighbors.

Worst experience of our life
We rented this apt. short term while waiting for our house to be built. The insulation is practically non-existent in these apts. The place is crawling with dogs who bark at all hours and owners who do not pick up after their pets. The people above us had a pitbull who ran or should I say galloped all over the apt. starting at 6 am. Every weekend they had parties until 1 or 2 in the morning with guys yelling and stomping on the floor. Yes, we did complain to the management and they told them the dog did not do any of the things we complained about, so we just gave up knowing we were there short term. The parking on the weekends is horrible, no one goes anywhere and if you do, when you come back, your place is long gone. The apts. are like revolving doors, someone is always moving out. As stated in other reviews, these places look nice on the outside, but looks are deceiving. I wish we had read the other reviews before we decided to rent there.

not so great
I have to say that it looks good on the outside but not in the inside. I've lived in many apartments in my life but this is one of the worst. The people who live here are sketchy to say the least. Motorcycles rule and no one does a thing about it. If you work at night forget about sleep during the day, the noise here is absurd. As far as staff, they are rude and do nothing to fix a situation. Person in building next door got arrested for drugs. If you do not like animals stay away many owners have multiple large dogs including pitbulls. While I have personally stories that have bothered me and maybe not everyone else. I would stay clear of this place it is not what you think.

Noise is horrible
My husband and i just moved out last month, we lived on the second floor. We could hear our neighbor singing in the shower every morning even though it was funny it got old fast. We have a puppy (who we always pickedup after, unlike other people in the complex)wellpuppies run around, our downstairs neighbor came up and said the dog wasloud downstairs could we please make him stop. we did and felt like we had to walk on eggshells just to be curtious of the neighbors. However the lady that lived above us was NOT so nice. She appearantly like to wash clothes at 4a.m. with an un balanced washing machine. Not to mention stomping around all the time.it was so annoying. As for the poop all in the grass, sending an email doesnt really scare people to pick up their dogs poop so do something else. Our bathroom had a great huge tub, however by the time it was even halfay filled the water was cold. The complex is nice looking but for the price you would think the amenities were taking care of. oh well, so glad we moved some things just arent worth dealing with.

We have been currently living at Alta for almost a year. Over the past year we have had 3 different office managers and they have all been very snotty. Its like we are an inconvience if we ever have any questions or problems. We have never really had any issues with the leasing staff other then the managers. We have had several notices put on our door about picking up and disposing of dog waste which we always do pick up after our animals. I don't understand why only a few buildings get these notices and they state their going to enforce with fees but nothing is ever done. I find it interesting that people let their dogs go 2 feet away from the trash cans with the poopy bags but don't bother to pick it up(has the world become that lazy). Also the dog park area IS NOT a litter box. It is not fun walking your dog in the middle of the night and stepping in dog poop. I feel for the price of rent that we are paying Alta, they could at least have the maintance people go around and clean up the courtyard, grills, and the computer stations. We have also had issues with the sprinklers. They have been coming on 3 or 4 times a day. With all the rain we have had the ground is soft and some parts are flooded. I know grass needs water but not this much. We have been experiencing fruit flies over the pass 2 weeks. Where are they coming from. Our apartment is clean and the trash is take off...confusing.

no upkeep!
We are not negative people, but very disappointed in the upkeep of the place. Not blaming maintainence at all. Daniel is very personable and obviously running all day. We hear he may now have a "helper". Well... yea for goodness sakes! This place is huge. BUT, the dumpster overflows with trash. If someone does not comply and lets there dog poop or throws out a can on the ground or a any other piece of trash, you will look at it forever until it literally decomposes. The last place we lived, much cheaper, had someone who walked the entire grounds every day and picked up every piece of trash/dog poop. We have the same cigarette butts laying outside our patio from our neighbor upstairs for the last two months. He just keeps throwing out new ones. The banana peel finally decomposed from four months ago. If you want to do laundry, you BETTER have a very OLD $5 bill. The system only takes very old ones. NONE of the new ones. If you go up front expecting a courtesy, such as "we have $5 bills that work in the laundry area,", forget it. The standard response is, "We have nothing to do with that," even though they advertise the service. If you want to use the amenity of the gas grills..... oh, they look so handsome..... you might have gas, and you probably won't. Hundreds of people live here, but usually only have two tanks, and evidently they are not being checked for fullness on a regular basis. We can't count the times we have walked over there only to find it out of gas. Today was one of them. What a waste of our time. We were actually going to throw in the laundry and head to the grills. We could use neither ($5 bill too new and totally out of gas on both grills on an absolutely beautiful weekend. It really stunk to say the least. I have already very kindly and politely expressed my concern up front, and I felt that I was treated in a condescending say, so now I am letting everyone now how bad the amenities are here. There are way cheaper places that take care of the place and do not spend every moment just trying to sell. I can hardly call up front and get a person. They are too busy selling. Yes, they are very new and nice, but they are going to let the place go at this rate. The fax never works. I have tried to use it twice, and the same thing with the copier. No cups in exercise room for water. Heard pool gets nasty as far as vaccuuming by residents from last summer. And, they have no music playing in the background nicely at the pool, so you have unsavory characters hanging out at the pool area (not large enough for the amount of people) playing their music loudly and no one watching to see what is going on. Some seriously sleezy people who seem to dominate the place making it not so attractive for families. The staff is seriously neglecting this place, and I hope management steps in.

Love it!
I absolutely looooove living at Alta Brookwood! Best apartment complex I have lived in thus far! I honestly cannot think of anything negative to say about my experience living here. I have been here almost three months and have loved every minute of it. I have not had an issue with noise or bugs (live on the third floor), my neighbors are friendly, the grounds are well kept, the club house is great, and overall I feel very safe. Above all, I am very impressed with the office staff. From moving in to general questions, everyone I have encountered was friendly and very accomodating. They even leave residents little gifts from time to time which is great. I honestly feel like they go out of their way to show us (i.e. residents) that they care and value our service. I definitely recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a new place in the greenville area.

So Far So Good
I've been here for about 2 1/2 months now and so far my wife and I really like it. The square footage is smaller than our last place so it's a bit cozier but we are very pleased, having a storage unit included with the place really helped. We picked the top floor in one of the buildings and it has been great. We barely ever hear anything which is nice because in our last place I could hear my neighbor using the facilities, if you know what I mean. On a very rare occasion we get noise but it's nothing worth complaining about unless you have zero patience. I haven't seen the "teen thugs" that were talked about, perhaps that was in the past. It seems now there are more young couples here. I've seen a few people speed through the parking lot in their BMWs and that would be my biggest complaint about the area, otherwise it's nice. The best thing has been the staff. They've been very quick to address any issues we've had and the maintenance people have been nice and helpful also. At the very beginning the water did smell funny as someone else mentioned but I believe that was just the new construction. After running the water for a few minutes everything seemed normal to me. I haven't had any bug troubles either as someone mentioned but I haven't been here during the warmer months so I guess we'll see, I hope not. Right now this place has really suited my wife and myself and we're really happy with it. The rent is at a good price and the space is nice and open where it needs to be but I can also have privacy when I need it. One more great thing, you can do a lot with the apartment (minus knocking down a wall), wall mounted tv anyone? :-) Oh there's also free wi-fi at the leasing office / rec area. 5 MBpS for those who are worried about that. It's also out by the pool I believe so if you have an apartment facing that way you'd have free wi-fi, they even mention it as a selling point. I'm at the edge of the property so I don't benefit but someone might appreciate knowing this.

Great Family Place
Overall this is a great community, maybe it is just us but the office staff has been great. They are always helpful when I come up and have a question. We live here with our daughter and feel very safe. There is plenty of parking. And the clubhouse is nice. The other apartments in the area may be less exspensive but you get what you pay for. The only thing I can come up with to say is that the trash does pile up on the weekends at the compactor, but first thing Monday you see the staff out there trying to get it under control.

Alta Brookwood
Just a few things about this place. I actually like it a lot and can't complain overall. The layout is nice and its brand new. The pool is great and the eye candy looks tasty. The downfall is that these are the most expensive apartments in the area. The rent dropped by almost 200.00 a week after I signed the lease so I am pissed about that. Most 2 bedrooms are going for 600 to 800 and I am paying over a thousand a month. The other thing is the staff is just ok -- I would expect if I got a package that I received a phone call or a door tag but I get nothing unless its Fed Ex. I had a few issues with this apartment and they have been pretty good at fixing them.

Not worth it!
I just recently moved in and all I can say is I wish I would not have! I'm just very dissappointed with everything... The apartment walls are very thin and you can hear everything that your neighbors do. There are ALOT of shady people that are constantly hanging out in the parking lot which makes me feel very unsafe. And the office staff is almost impossible to deal with. Everyone is very snotty and rude!! I made the decision to move in here based on the fact that the community was new and the rates were low (which is obvious based on the kinds of people that are living here!) but you can guarantee that I will be moving out at the end of my lease!!!

Keep Looking
For this place to be new, I would rather be somewhere lived in... The noise here is crazy. You can hear your neighbors every foot step. Anything they do in their home, you can hear. The office staff is fake. They are nice when you move in, but after they get you there... Attitudes. There's one black female, she's helpful and pretty much the go to girl when you need something. The big busty blonde, stay away. The water is funny smelling and my apartment is infested with fruit flies. I spoke with other neighbors, and they also, have the same problems. For the money that they ask for, you would at least think they would send someone out to spray. The parking is ok... Unless you have someone that has more than 3 cars taking all the spots in the front. Other than that, it the typical apartment complex. Nothing fancy to write home about. If you can deal witht the noise go for it. Ask for the 3rd floor, that's the only way you can avoid it. I've seen a lot of little "Teen Thugs" hanging around. I guess you have to be careful if you come home at night.
