This is a great community as far as the living situation is. The grounds are beautiful, the people are friendly, and it's never loud. It's a great community for young couples and small families. The biggest drawback to living here, enough to make me never recommend this place to ANYONE, is the staff. They have been completely difficult and rude to me from day one. On my move-in day, a Saturday when my insurance companies' office is closed, I came to pick up the keys and they told me they wouldn't give them to me until I game them proof of renter's insurance with that address on the form. I hadn't even moved in yet, and I was never told this until that day. They wouldn't take my proof of insurance, which I did have and was current, until it had the address of an apartment I hadn't even moved into on it. The agent then rudely told me that I signed a document saying that I would do that, even though she didn't decide to mention it to me when I was signing a mountain of paperwork. They also were trying to charge me a full month's rent of a deposit because I couldn't show renter's history for 3 months prior to moving in. I have seven years of renter's history prior to that small gap, and they wouldn't even consider accepting it. They always spoke to me as if I was a subordinate and stupid. They never even tried to help me out at all. It's really a shame that the staff is so rude and terrible because they ruined the place for me.

We lived here for 6 months and paid out on our lease so we could move. The management is horrible and rude as can be. Always had problems with the apartment, parking sucks, and they changed the activity center hours w/out even notifying the residents despite what requires of them. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. Don't waste your time, find a better and more respectful property.

I lived at Artisan last year, and miss it!! The staff is super friendly and helpful, and unlike many properties, the manager will sit down and speak with you personally if you feel you need to. The assistant is also happy to go over charges with you and do whatever she can to make life a little easier or at least help you understand where they're coming from. The leasing agents are also wonderfully helpful. The apartments are super spacious and well laid out. I miss how much storage I had, and room to move around in there. It was also nice to have a direct access door from my room to the bathroom, but also have another door open to the public. They rent washers and dryers to fit in their connections for way cheaper than other renters, and with that they're serviced through the apartment. Maintenance is incredible! They get things done quickly and always let you know when they've been there - something I took for granted. Parking is ok. It's really great towards the front of the complex, but not so great at the back. Not sure why. Noise level - I never heard my next door neighbors, and only occasionally heard the people above me. Seems like it was only when they dropped something heavy which wasn't very often. My only complaints are the pet fees and rental rate. The pet fees are really high and non refundable (hint as to why they're called fees and not deposits like some other reviews have said. It clearly states FEE on the application which by definition is non refundable and doesn't go towards any type of cleaning). That was made clear to me before I applied, but it's still bad. I know for a fact though, that not even the management company can explain why they're that high when they don't compare to other properties in the same area. Same with rent. It's not outrageous, but you could get better quality appliances and flooring for the same rate down the road. That being said, I know they run specials on occasion so if you can get in on one of those - jump on it! But if those are my only complaints I'll take it. Artisan is awesome!

PET OWNERS BEWARE!!! If you are a lover of furry friends like myself, DO NOT RENT HERE! Plus there are several other reasons. They charge a ridiculous, non-refundable pet "deposit" and upon moving out they will charge "pet cleaning fees." One would think that would be covered in the $250 non-refundable deposit PER PET, but no, they just take that money and pocket it, and on top of the they charge pet rent! When I asked what all of these "fees" covered, duh uh uh, the stupid manager and assistant managers could not come up with any intelligible answers. They came up with that is was so the landscapers would pick up the dog crap that irresponsible dog owners left behind. I HAVE CATS!! They never went outside and never left crap ANYWHERE! And I personally saw dog crap go through all stages of natural rotting, never to be picked up by any landscaper. Seeing as I am a good renter with excellent credit, I will pay their dumb fees to keep my record clean, but for anyone looking to rent at this place, DO NOT!!! In addition to ridiculous pet fees, maintenance is a joke. I had to ask several times to get things fixed, and when it finally got done the maintenance guys left trash in my apartment. When I asked for my refrigerator to be fixed, they said that nothing was wrong with it and I had to harass them to come out and actually fix it. A refrigerator should not be so loud that it wakes you up at night through a closed bedroom door! I asked them to fix my rattling ceiling fan. After they "fixed" it, it started rattling worse. All they did was reverse the direction and left dirt everywhere in my bedroom. Also, the police were called on people who lived on the floor above me several times, yet nothing ever seemed to happen to them. They were still living happily and having arguments and fights that spilled out into the halls and parking lot whenever they pleased. True enough, I rented at this place because I needed a cheap place to live temporarily when I first moved to Austin. You will pay more at other communities, and I do believe it will be well worth it to do so. I would not recommend this property to anyone!!

This is my first time signing up for any review site. I had to because this place is the WORST place I have lived in my life, and I have lived in very ------ and badly managed apartments. I moved into Artisan a year ago even though I saw bad reviews, because I am not picky. I wish I had steered clear. ---Horrendous Customer Service/Management for big issues! Dismissive and not helpful. ---Noise level is the worst I have experienced! --- loud freeway noise - inconsiderate construction projects - hear through walls -loitering and smoking around stairwells daily. Since I was being shown a "model" apartment, I asked if the exact apartment I would be renting would be noisy. They said it would be quiet. Boy, were they lying. The apartment I was renting was right next to subway, close to the entrance. All day long there is constant road noise, the living room was bearable, but the bedroom is terrible! Single pane glass makes it louder than the living room. I couldn't sleep for months, and constantly did not feel rested because of big trucks/ ambulances/ noises from Parmer. If you think you could stand the noise, wait until the Artisan starts a huge construction project right below your apartment without giving you any notice, starting BEFORE 7am, and on a HOLIDAY Weekend!!! -Quiet Hours are 10am - 10pm -When we confronted the office they said they would talk to them. They also said project would be over in 2 weeks. -A month later and still consistently being woken up before 8am we confronted the office again. We found out they only asked the construction crew to start after 8am! Quiet hours are 10-10 this is an outrage! No other tenant would be allowed to make that noise early in the morning! -Drills, power tools, saws, hammering (no amount of earplugs/fan noise will block this as it shakes the ground and is very loud) -Two months later we went into the office again and told them they were still being woken up at 7am multiple days (8-9am tons of other days) and the crew were even using power tools AT MIDNIGHT on a few occasions!! The office lady called us a liar saying They couldn't be doing that! , said she would talk to them, and that it should be done any day. -After the discussion we still were woken up before quiet hours until I moved out. My friend is still living there and construction isn't over yet. (3 months of solid construction work with no real compensation or even "we are sorry") The only compensation my roommate and I had received was them forgoing a $100 fee when I moved out and canceled my portion of the lease, dealing with rude construction noise. I was miserable for 2.5 months with construction, it was on the weekends, early, and late at night...I want my 2.5 months of rent back. Robbery. This has cost me productivity, money (when I couldn't work at home), health (got sick from lack of sleep and I couldn't even sleep when I was home during the day because of the noise!). IN ADDITION -Artisan will send you 20 garbage/spam emails, but not have the courtesy to send an email saying they are charging me and my roommate $50 extra for utilities. -Austin Utilities screwed up and we didn't know until 6 months of living at the Artisan (because we were paying artisan for all utilities, thought this must be normal). We received no warnings from that Artisan. We showed them it wasn't our fault (note from austin utilities saying they screwed up) and Artisan said if we back pay from a certain date. They told us the wrong date, we were double charged and it took 4 months to get it sorted out. -It also took them 4 days to fix our AC completely when we had problems with it. -I had coworkers who live here and agree it is the worst place they have lived, that dealing with management is horrendous. Stating that the managers have been very mean when dealing with issues. ***Do yourself a favor and don't live here no matter how nice it may appear or the convenience of the shops. Come back and visit Amigos, Zakias, and Bang salon, but DO NOT LIVE HERE.***

I really don't know why this place seems to attract such negative reviews. I've lived here for almost two years and have nothing but nice things to say about the things that can be controlled. The maintenance crew is AWESOME (I've never had a service call take more than 24 hours and I've asked for some oddball stuff), the floor plans are huge, and the office staff are always very nice. If you want to nitpick, there are a few things that you can take with a grain of salt; 1. The walls are thick and I've never had noise bleed over from the apartment next door, strangely though, the floors/ceilings seem to be a little on the thin side (that, or my upstairs neighbors are amateur greco-roman wrestlers) 2. The parking can be a bit nightmarish. Odd because there are more than enough spaces and for some reason everyone parks to the back of the complex and leaves the front abandoned. But there are plenty of reserved spaces available (I'm just a cheap bastard and won't pay for one) 3. The carpet is a bit on the cheap side, but not at all surprising for a complex of this size and age. 4. There are occasionally little things wrong in the apartments; molding not joined in the prettiest way, weather stripping that doesn't quite seal, that sort of thing. Again, this is where their kick --- maintenance comes into play. When I first moved in, I noticed that the last tenant must have had dogs because one of the window sills looked like it had been chewed on, I put in a work order and expected them just to putty it over and repaint. Next day they replaced and repainted the WHOLE sill. Bravo guys. In short, great complex for the money. Lots of space, and great management/maintenance if you just communicate with them!

My husband and I have been living at the Artisan for the past 6 months and we absolutely love it! The layout of the apartments is what first attracted us. The price/sqf can't be beat and the apartments are open and airy. What we didn't expect was the TREMENDOUSLY friendly staff and the great community you get when you move it. The Artisan hosts community events EVERY WEEK. Things like movie night, free brunch, pool parties, potlucks, etc. You really feel part of a bigger picture and it nice to know you have caring, friendly neighbors! The management staff keeps residents informed promptly of any changes via email alerts and sends reminders about upcoming events so you don't miss any of the fun. We love it here!

My wife and I have been leaving here at the Artisan for almost two months now. I was living in California when we were going through the leasing paperwork and the leasing agents were very helping in sending the lease and answering any questions I had over the Phone. Since we have moved in we've had no complaints to date. Maintence request have been quick, and very nice people to deal with. The lady's working in the office are as well polite and very helpful. I've had to fax a couple items and they would drop what they were doing to help me out. The apartment it's self was in great condition, just had a problem with the shower heads which they fixed. I live in a third floor corner apartment so with the thin walls someone was speaking off I can't really say, although I live right next to the stairs and we haven't had any problems with hearing it. We never have a problem finding a parking spot and the parking lot is very well lite and we've noticed that a patrol car drives through just about every night. I would recommend these apartments and staff to anyone.

We just signed a new lease and I can't see living anywhere else. Love it here, love the staff. The staff has always done what is asked of them in my book. When ever I needed service, they were there immediately, within 24 hours always. They do a really good job here at the Artisan, they communicate very well with us, and we have no complaints. Very satisfied. Natasha is very professional, and helpful. Some people can never be satisfied, and they want the world to be perfect.

I lived at the Jefferson Center right before Artisan took over. I am an apartment manager and told them that upon move-in, so I kind of know the inn s & outs lol joke was on me. Since I'm in the business I know staff can change often but often was not the case, the staff changed and so did the feel good of the property. I loved staying there at first. It was such a new beautiful property in a nice part of town anyone who came to visit was like wow you stay here, how much does this cost? Well I felt like I had a great deal until new management came in and took over which happens a lot in Austin (sad face) I didn t think much of it till it started to effect me, my renewal came around now I had already been staying their for 2 years (happy) well lets just say because I know the business they wanted to weed out the old and start not only with a new staff but with new tenants (sad) so my renewal rate pushed me out the door, I would have had to move out and move right back in just to get the deal fresh meat was getting. I wasn t even that upset since that's life but after I moved out and did I say I'm an apartment manager myself so I know what to do at the time of move-out. Well I get my disposition in the mail and the fees blew my mind.(sad face again) I tried to get this cleared and to no luck. I so loved this place and will forever talk in it's favor the apartments itself are great, but who knows now how the management is and what the staff is like, could be better who knows, it was a long time ago for me happy it's almost 7 years so it can fall off my credit I refuse to give them a dime. Must love Texas laws we are a debt friendly state!!!

After reading all the reviews, I hope I didn't get trapped in a hellhole. Management at this property is horrific and I personally cannot wait to leave this place. Dreading the 6 months I have left on the lease and also after reading the reviews on how Artisan charged their clients for unreasonable reasons prior to moving out scares the heck out of me. Artisan Apartments would you please reconsider the staff you have because with that attitude and senseless beings you hired, you wont have much of a business left. Remember one bad review will lead to 10 peoples mouth and it will continue to grow.

The staff here is constantly changing! Not to mention I could hear EVERYTHING through their paper thin walls. And the no deposit policy that they seem to give everyone on move-in? Well don't worry, they will get there money on your way out.. over $1,000.00 for one year? I don't think so!! I am an extremely clean person, vacuum weekly, and yet somehow they need new carpet in my unit? HAH! Never again...

I lived here for 18 months, when they were still Jefferson Center and enjoyed my stay there. I had a friend moving down from out of state and they didn't have any 2 bedroom 1st floor apts available, so we looked elsewhere. I gave over the 60 day notice required, along with my forwarding address and made sure my apt was spotless when I left, even had the walk-through done. Almost 2 years later, I get a notice saying I owed Artisan money! The letter wasn't even from them, it was from a collection agency. Funny thing, they didn't even own the property when I moved out -the deed was filed in April2, 2007, I moved out in 06. My ratings below are for my time there when JPI owned the property, I have no other knowledge as to has Artisan is run. As far as recommending Artisan, I can only say I feel them trying to get money out of me when I left approx 8 months before they even owned the property 2 years after I left, I'd have to say no, but if JPI still owned the property, I say a definite yes!

I can't figure out what apartments the people who write these glowing review live in. My time at Artisan was nothing short of a living hell. At the conclusion of the first 12 months there was only 1 person in the office who was there the day I moved in. Trinity prefers to hire "children" instead of professional staff creating the revolving employee door. In my experience there was not one person in the front office dedicated to the needs/concerns of the residents unless you were on their "resident council" (all of which were selected by the front office). On the days they offered free breakfast tacos or free pizza, you'd better be there the minute it starts because they only purchased enough to last for about 5 minutes. Within 15 minutes of the start time, everything would be cleaned up and office staff had gone home. I recognize Trinity Property Management is a corporation and their job is to make money. Fleecing the residents of this property at move-out is not the way to honestly make money. Even though I had the carpets cleaned, at my own expense, paid a professional cleaning service to clean the apartment, at my own expense, when I moved out, they attempted to change me nearly $1100.00 to replace the carpet in a one bedroom apartment. I've re-carpeted a 1300 sq ft house for $1200 and it was a LOT higher quality carpet than apartments install. All-in-all I popped a bottle of champagne the day I left this place. I still pay nearly $900.00 for a one bedroom but not having to deal with the rude/uncaring office staff is priceless.

Have lived here for 3.5 years. Great property, good management, the size of the one bedrooms relative to price our amazing. Parking is always suspect in a large apartment community, and the rent really hasn't risen over the years only the last year due to low inventory. The grounds are always immaculate and the pool is kept as clean as humanly possible being that it is in a "jungle" in closure when it comes to pools.Very dog friendly property! Would recommend this property, thank you for your hospitality Artisan Trimity Staff!:-)

I have lived in the Artisian since april 2012. The reviews here I Just dont understand because its been three months and the staff has been wonderful and everything has been replaced if needed. I came from a huge house and kids got big and went to an apartment and was nervous about that but they made me feel at home. The place is clean and the pools are kept up. Excellent for any ages..... The staff at the office have been very pleasant. So I guess I am saying I would not change a thing. Thanks Artisian for making us feel welcome.

DON'T EVEN CONSIDER THESE APARTMENTS!
I completely agree with everything that the original poster said. Trinity Management company pays their staff by receiving a percentage (a bonus) based on income brought into the complex. So, this complex alleges you break the rules, and charges you for every charge or fee listed on the lease agreement whether it is true or not. We just had yet another turnover in personnel and the new manager puts a notice on the door saying they were going to do "inspections" on safety equipment (fire extinguishers and air filters for AC.). Well, fire extinguishers were checked within the year, and they don't change AC filters here. All of a sudden, there were notes on virtually every door in the building alleging lease violations and extra fees. In my opinion, Artisan's property management company, trinity Management company, did an illegal inspection and violated every tenants right to privacy. Another thing that happens all the time is everyone and their dog sneaks into the swimming pool and uses it for free. Residents are limited to having two guests at the swimming pool. On weekends, there are several residents out by the pool having large parties. Last time I was at the pool I saw a tenant get out of the hot tub, and urinate in the bushes. This was a female tenant. I guess you could say, at least she got out of the hot tub first. Gross. Oh, one last comment about the office staff Hardly ever answers the phone, in an emergency or in the middle of the day. The office staff are untrained and never know the answers to any questions. Most of the time the answers are rebutted the next time you talked to someone in the office. The second office staff member will say, "Who told you that?" "They were wrong." Whatever the answer is that any staff member gives you, get it in writing. When you ask them to put the answer in writing the office staff will respond with, well let me find out about that and get back to you. Then they NEVER do get back to you. I have call Thresa in the office several times, and she is never in, and never returns calls. RUN FROM THIS COMPLEX! Do not rent here.
