This place is horrible
It used to be a nice place to live at before when the property was owned and managed by the Jefferson Properties Group. Now that it has changed ownership the property has done nothing but go downhill. Repairs are not fixed in a timely manner. The caulking on the outside of the buildings is a sore sight. The amenities that were here a year ago either don't work or are non-existent. The jacuzzi has been broken for months. The lighting in the pool is broken. The BBQ grills do not work. The copy machine does not work. They will make sure they collect your rent on time though. They try to make it a live work and play property but that is not the case. They have so many vacancies and the only businesses that are here are mainly on the front side of the building. This apartment complex is being MISMANAGED. And MOST of the staff members do not care about what the residents think or need. They do not keep track of repairs. One time I had to submit a repair order almost 5 times and waited almost a year for a repair to be finished. They like to blame the problems of the property on previous management. It might look like a nice property but overall it is bad. I would live at the amli on anderson mill. It is a much better property to live at and is managed much better. The only good things about this complex is that it is safe, it has a nice gym, and it looks good for the most part.

At this place too long and have seen it all... don't let the "look" fool you
So I've been a long time resident (4 years) and thankfully buying a house at the end of the year. Overall, The Artisan (hate the new name) is HIGHLY over rated. Luckily, I locked in a pretty low price when I first moved in, but I know most people here have to be paying at least $250 more than I do. One of the things I hate the most is the location; it feels like you are literally out in the middle of nowhere. But if you like feeling secluded from the city, this may be a positive for you. The whole live, work, play concept really failed due to the lack of anything else around the complex. Construction work on a brand new neighborhood literally outside my window nicely wakes me up every morning with a giant jack hammer at 7am, a great way to start the day. Then there is the management. I had no issues at all with the previous property owners (JPI). They were actually very nice, lenient on late fees if you were a day late but haven t been in the past 12 months, actually would negotiate lease agreements with you, and really felt like their top priority was keeping their residents. The new property owners (Trinity) are all about the money. Just a couple of months ago, I was 1 day late... I know, I know, I shouldn't be late, but you would think a resident of 4 years that was NEVER late, they would be a little understanding, but no... $50 fee, no excuses at all. Then I asked if it was possible to negotiate an additional 2 months into my contract ... nope! 60-day vacation notice and I have to go months-to-month paying market rate plus an additional $150 (almost a difference of $300 difference for me)... WHAT A RIP OFF! It's all about the money, obviously because you can easily walk down the main drag and point out numerous vacant units. And seriously, how long does it really take to paint the exterior??? Since the new owners taken over, they have promised "overdue maintenance work" on the property, but the property looks like a total mess... I have no idea how they can attract new tenants with the property looking the way it does now. It has seriously looked like this since at least April... what a mess! Well, I hope this helps your decision. The place looks and feels cool when you first move in, but you quickly see that it's very over rated. Don't expect too much, and only seriously consider this place unless you get a zero down deposit and a good, lower-comp monthly rent. Good luck!

THIS PLACE SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!
SO WE MOVED IN AFTER HAVING HORRIBLE MOLD ISSUES WITH ANOTHER SISTER APARTMENT. WE RENTED A TWO BEDROOM STATING WE NEEDED A THREE BEDROOM BUT DUE TO MOLD AND NO OTHER APARTMENTS AVAILABLE WE TOOK IT KNOWING WE WERE ON THE LIST FOR A THREE BEDROOM. SINCE THEN WE HAVE HAD A HARD TIME GETTING THINGS FIXED, WAITING AROUND FOR LATE MAINTANCE CALLS, AND HORRIBLE MANAGMENT. THE WALLS ARE PAPER THIN AND EVEN AT A NEGETIVE VOLUME THE NEIGHBORS CAN HEAR EVERYTHING (INCLUDING THOSE ANNOYING IM PLEEPS YOU GET WHEN YOU RECEIVE A MSG). SOMETIME THIS YEAR THEY CHANGED MANAGMENT AND WENT FROM ONLY OK TO REALLY BAD. THEY ARE IMPERSONNAL AND COULD CARE LESS ABOUT YOUR SITUATION AND ONLY WANT A BUCK. THE PEOPLE ACROSS THE HALL FROM US VACATED THEIR THREE BEDROOM BUT MANAGMENT REFUSES TO LET US LEASE IT BEC YOU HAVE TO GIVE 60 DAY NOTICE AND THEY CANT HOLD IT THAT LONG. SO IT SIT EMPTY AT THE TIME. NOT TO MENTION THEY TOLD US THERE WERE NO THREE BEDROOMS BUT HAD THEM LISTED ON CRAIGLIST BEFORE WE REALIZED THE ONE ACROSS THE HALL WAS A THREE BEDROOM.I KNOW THEY LOOK PRETTY BUT I WOULD NEVER LEASE HERE AGAIN. BETWEEN NOICE, MANAGMENT, AND THERE INABLITLY TO KEEP AGREEMENTS I'D SAY NEVER EVER COME HERE. YOULL GET ALOT OF MISS INFORMATION AND EMPTY PROMISES.

Not so much.........
The maintenance staff takes a while to get to requests.. when they DO fix things.. it is usually done with mediocre skill. And they don't leave a note that they entered the apt. Also, with the recent management change, there is always a bulletin to tell you 'someone' will be entering your unit within the week.. Although the units look 'hip' the construction is horrible. They recently patched all the cracks in the buildings..but now they complex has had white veins on all the buildings for months. You can hear neighbors' TV's, conversation, walking around, and when the 'plumbing' is being used.. as well as fights and the makeup sessions. The complex DOES allow pets, but some owners let their dogs bark for hours. Management will tell you they send courtesy letters to loud neighbors, but even after several complaints, it's all lip service and nothing is done. With the new water billing scheme...checks need to be made out to the 'new management' and there is a minimum flat charge regardless of your individual unit's usage. The land next to the complex is now a construction site for a DR Horton housing development. So dust and loud equipment are a constant. Given the choice in apt living, and all the new developments a little further west on Parmer, there are much better choices to be made than this place. Think twice before considering Jefferson center/Artisan.

Good Job
I would like to start off by saying that since the Managemnet company has changed FOUR months ago things have been looking up. I know the apartments look different right now due to the re-paint, but I have seen where they started painting one of the buildings and I think it's going to look great. I have read other peoples complaints and I can see how frustrating it can be when things don't work but I guess having been in the business a couple of years ago I know things take time to fix and on top of that $$$$$$$. I think this place is great and the people in the office have been nothing but helpful in everything. I love it here and so do all of my neighbors around me. I wont be leaving any time soon. I have alredy renewed my lease for another year.

DON'T DO IT!
This place has had so many changes in the past 6 months that not even their own staff members know what's going on half the time. There so called "renovations" to clean up the place has been an ongoing nightmare. The buildings have all the ugly caulking on each and every building waiting for the painting to take place. They keep saying the rain is whats keeping them from finishing up. I can understand a a month or so, but not 6 months to finish! That's ridiculous! The "luxury living" they say it is looks ------, with that said - now since they are starting to lose old residents, they seem to offer the apartments out to anyone with "decent" credit, no rental history needed. So if you want to be treated like trash by their staff, by all means - go ahead and rent here. Good luck if you cross paths with ------ or ------. Between those two, they share a brain. So that should give you a mental picture of how badly the tenants are treated. You can keep calling them, and calling them when you need something repaired and/or have questions regarding various things and they NEVER call you back..they always claim they never got a message. But low and behold if your in violation of your lease (example: if someone else's bog happens to poop in your area, or cigarette butts thrown in your area) you can bet you'll get a sweet violation notice from ------ reminding you how you're in violation and will have to pay a fee of $25.00 plus! Good ridens to this place - THANK GOD we're not renewing our lease. About 6 other tenants that I've run into have all decided NOT to renew because of new management, and their inability to get anything done. What a bunch of unprofessional idiots.

Its way better NOW!
This place has changed completely now, is now called Artisan instead of Jefferson Center and before I can say this was a nighmare, it will take Maintenance over a week to complete my work request, and now is completed in the same day or the next day. Grounds are looking better and they are repairing the Hot Tub wich was out for a very long time. This is great, the maintenance supervisor came to my apartment on the weekend to repair my a/c, and he took his time to explain how the thermostat works until i was able to understand it. Also I live in building 8 and now they have repaired the parking lights wich it was very dark before, this place is getting in better shape than ever, for every day that it pass there is something more to smile about.

Most certainly NOT worth it!
OK, let's start with the positives... Curb appeal, this place has it in abundance. Coffee shop/stores are very convienent. The layouts of the apartments look cool and they do everything they can to portray a hip/cool image. The reality, sadly, is far different. First off, my car was vandalized on several occasions. On one occasion it was vandalized so badly it had to go into the shop to get repaired for a week. Next, if you're allergic to bees, DO NOT LIVE HERE! On one occasion over FIFTY bees were inside my apartment and those of every apartment in our building. It goes on... hottub doesn't work most of the time. You can hear EVERYTHING your neighbors do... and I mean EVERYTHING. There are always criminal elements (kids from the surrounding community drinking/using drugs/etc) using the pool at all hours of night. Two things to consider if you're still not convinced... First off, rents are going UP UP UP. The lease renewal raised the rent significantly. They're now priced FAR more than most comperable units in the area... cross over 620 and you will find FAR better places for the money. Second, and this is most important, THEY WILL FORCE JESUS DOWN YOUR THROATS! Yes, you read that right! Ask to see a calandar if you don't believe me, right there they will advertise their prayer meetings. Every time you see any staff member they will invite you to church/ask how your walk with the Lord is. Never in my LIFE have I ever experienced this, and I come from a small Southern Baptist town! It's almost like a creepy cult from some mega church has taken the place over... and the staff are a part of it!

*Disappointing*
I paid a $300 deposit after viewing the model of the one bedroom and i was super excited to move in!! The day i was supposed to move, i wanted to see my actual apartmeny before i signed the lease and it was a nightmare!! It was dirty and ------. The carpet/tile had big stains and the kitchen counter was busted in peices. It was nothing like the model. Also, the apartments have long, scary hallways. I refused to move in and they would only give me back 1/3 of my deposit. Its pretty on the outside but ugly on the inside.

I love it here... and I'm picky
I'm a VERY picky person when it comes to customer service and promises/leases being upheld. I have to say, I'm actually satisfied.

I came to Jefferson Center to hurry and get out of my lease at my old apartment (the manager made himself at home in my apartment where I used to live...). They told me they would have the apartment ready by August 10th and I could move in then. I later got a call and they said they were really booked so they couldn't have it ready until the 16th. I wasn't able to do that and so they contracted the work out and got my apartment ready by the 10th.

They have been very understanding and helpful as I lost my job the week before I moved in and rent was hard to come by for my fiance and I. There were two months in a row that there was either a bank error or I was late a day and the front office staff helped me keep my late fees and whatnot to a minimum. They also accepted my request to have my check returned to me (that I turned in on time but at the last minute) as long as I brought a money order in that night.

Maintenance issues have always been taken care of in a timely manner - but I haven't had but one issue. Simple fix.

HOWEVER; my neighbor is either deaf or just plain inconsiderate. He blasts his surround sound everynight until about 2 am. (I work two jobs and my fiance and I get up at 5:30 am) I have called the curtosey officer on him twice as well as left a note prior to calling the officer. The office DID COME and warned my neighbor. Next time he gets a complaint on my neighbor, he's evicted.

I've never noticed a problem with the pools or any other ameneties other than the car wash not working one night - that's all. Everything else is great.

We have a GREAT deal on our apartment. 1,023 sq ft 1 bdrm and we only pay 861/mo. My electric bills are a 1/3rd of what they were at my old apartment (loving that!!!!!!).

Parking is annoying to me - there's few spots and by my building, there's VERY FEW spots near the building, but it is well lit and I feel safe coming home late even if my fiance isn't with me.

I've never been happier with an apartment. I think we'll be here for quite some time.

NO!!! RUN THE OTHER WAY!
I highly reccomend that you do not live here. The management is not dedicated to a positive customer experience, there have been numerous maintenance issues, the apt was built poorly and with cheap product and the air conditioner is louder than a passing train.

Hell No
I dont know what to say that hasn't been already. The noise, the piss poor staffing, the routy crowds, bad parking. The whole package is an image to draw in suckers off the streets. Yet management still has the nerve to act way too high and mighty about every little deal because this is "luxury living." I didnt realize how bad I was getting screwed financially till I noticed that condos, homes, and duplexes, go for cheaper than this tin can. When my brother and friend moved out of here they left them with like a $7,000 bill over the most petty stupid things. I'm outta here in a month, not only am I gonna save $200/mo and the headaches of sloppy staffing, but gaining twice the room and size of my place. Dont wayste any time or money here.

I'M OUT!!!!!
I lived at Jefferson Center for 4 years. I have just recently moved out for a number of reasons. When I first moved in , the property was immaculate, pool area / bathrooms - ALWAYS clean, the staff always extremely helpful. In the four years, the management changed 4 times and got worse each time. My apartment had mold in it THREE TIMES (due to a tub leak) that had to be cut out and sheetrock replaced (which took 2-3 weeks to complete) not to mention the mess the maintenence team made while working on it. This property has really snow-balled. I wouldn't recommend this property to anyone!

Its not that bad....
The only real problem we have had is not being able to use the pool without coming across tons of beer cans & bottles, noise college kids that occupy every chair/space they have in the pool, and every other word out of their mouth is obscene. My kids & I can't enjoy the pool as much as we'd like. That was the biggest selling point for us when we decided to move in because we love the club house/pool & the salon idea (for me). My neighbors are great, and the community is nice. I havent encountered problems with the maintenance people, and management has been nice as well. They have periodic activities for the residents of this place and thats wonderful

Maintenace,, what a joke!!
I have called in several work orders in the past 5 months and NONE of them have been done in a timely manner. You might as well do it yourself. This place used to be ok but it has gone to hell. The exterior looks great and they put on a pretty face when you first lease but after the thirty day "trial" they have you and you cant do nothing about it. I have been waiting for a work order to be done for 3 weeks. so I called back and guess what. it was closed for reasons unknown. this is the last time Maintenance gets another call from me cause IM MOVING OUT!!

Noisy but pretty nice
I have lived here for over a year and the main complaint that I have is the noise. Every weekend the people below me play techno until 7 a.m. I have called the courtesy officer at least 10 times (not to be a party pooper but I work weekends)and nothing has ever happened. Another complaint that I have is that sometimes the maintenance people don't take problems that seriously. Other than that it is a nice place to live.

3 YEAR RESIDENT MOVING OUT
I have lived here for 3 years--it does look very nice on the outside, and for the price i couldn't have found a better place--until now when they decided to raise my rent $90 a month!! My friend, who lives in a 2-2, also got his rent raised $90!! The previous resigning of leases they did not raise the rent at all and in fact gave us half off the 1st month of the lease. As for the buildings--they are cheaply built and fall apart rather easily, the carpet is "berber" but shows stains and tears also rather easily--the maintance guys are very good at what they do but 2 of the 4 are very unfriendly--if you pay for a parking better go for the garage bc everyone will park in your spot and the courtesy cop does nothing at all--so all in all--look somewhere else

I moved out after 2 months
I had very bad experience with JFC.
Apts look nice from the outside, but this is where all the advantages end. Living in these brightly colored cardboard boxes - is very different experience.
I wanted to move out 2 weeks into my lease, and I used the 30-days "satisfaction guarantee", that turned out to be a total joke.
That 30-day satisfaction guarantee (they give you a "certicate") stated that you can move out within 30 days after your initial move-in if you are not satisfied !FOR ANY REASON! And I had a lot of reasons not to be satisfied. They did not want to let me go, until I finally threatened to sue them for the breach of promise. So they had to let me go but not after I had to spend another month there while they were figuring out how to put my leaving before the lease end in their papers - because there is NO 30-day satifaction gurantee - it's all B.S.

Anyway, here are the reasons for my move out:
1. I was promised a garage right next to my apartment, that's why I moved in. After I moved in, turned out that the garage were supposed to give me was used for their own needs (they kept garden hoses, lawnmowers, and such there), and they gave me a garage on the opposite end of the complex. Very inconvenient, corner location, entrance(exit)constantly blocked by other cars. (How stupid or inconsiderate you have to be to block a garage at 8 pm, and think that nobody would be coming because it was "too late already").
2. Very poor soundproofing and insulation. I was relatively lucky, my neighbours were quet, but you could hear and feel people walking, talking, TV, raido, etc... A lot of people with trashy cars working on them outside, revving engines working them out...

Very noisy AC, that would not cool it off enough working all day....

3. Gym was OK (I used it in the morning, when there were few people there). Using pool or club room was not an option because of too many noisy drunken punk rats there.

4. Instead of gating the community they put speed bumps every 5 yards.

5. Maintanence was awful. Never followed through on their promises.

Given the very high price I was paying for the garage and 2bdr/2bth apartment while getting all the conveniences of a doghouse I decided that I had enough.

This apt is OK if you a undergraduate college student and this is your first apartment. (Not sure though how many undergrads can afford these apts at such a price). But if you are a working professional and need some rest after a long work day, JFC would be a very poor choise for you.

P.S. Office staff was nice, but very inexperienced. If you need something serious, never waste your time with them, go directly for the manager.

I still love this place!
We moved in January of 2003 and truly love Jefferson Center! The apartments are HUGE, the people who live here are friendly, and every member of the management team is as nice as they can be! The girls in the front office are professional and caring and the manager is on top of things. The maintenance crew is fun to talk to and they always get the job done quickly and well. The onsite CARES Team makes it extra fun with events for everyone. I can't say enough good things about this place!

JC was one of the first and only apartment I looked at when moving into the city. The staff have been very personable and helpful. The CARES team is great, hosting some awesome events, and the brunch is a MUST!!! I've never encountered any problems here. You may hear a neighbor occassionally, but this is apartment style living. I'm only moving out because I'm losing roommates. Other than that JC comes highly recommended from me.

Just moved in...
When these apartments were first built I used to drive by and think "wow, that would be a great place to live". Now that I finally live here my opinion has changed tremendously. Don't get me wrong, the staff was extremely nice and helpful and I loved the floor plan. The grounds are beautiful and Seatles Best coffee was a huge perk but after only a month of living here I have had to deal with drunken, loud party types constantly. By the pool, in the activity center, and even people just standing around in the parking lot drinking until all hours. I eventually called the police one night and stayed up waiting for them to arrive which they never did. I realize they have more serious crimes to deal with so I can't blame them for not showing up for a noise complaint. This place is nice to look at but I wouldn't recommend it unless your a twenty something frat boy, hood rat, or redneck. I have a 11 more months to go...wish me luck.

Moving Out
I moved into Jefferson Center in 2004. The office staff were a dream to deal with. That has changed over the past two years.

There were lots of businesses I could use regularly (hairdresser, tanning, food, coffee, dry cleaners). Lots of the businesses are gone or moving out. Now they're putting a pizza joint that serves alcohol. I can only imagine the noise and parking nightmare that will be.

The construction is horrible. I live by the stairs and you can hear every footstep when people come or go. I can't tell you how many times I have called the courtesy officer(which is a total joke, the only time I finally got a response was when I threatened to call the cops) because the people upstairs were screaming, blaring music, yelling obscenities, throwing things on the floor, etc. If you want quiet, this is NOT the place to live.

Maintenance however is GREAT. Cedric is AWESOME. He came within 15 minutes one night at 3:30am when I called because my fridge broke and was dumping water all over the apartment.

The pool area has gone downhill. Its now full of drunks who blare their music (and the music the staff picks to play is just as bad and they refuse to change the channel or volume even if you're the only one there). Its always dirty and the smaller pool was closed down forever. I don't know how many times I went and left disguisted because of the noise and the behavior of the people there.

I got notice that it was time to renew my lease. Rent went up again. They're asking for $110 more than what I was paying when I first moved in. This place is NOT worth it.

It started out as a nice place to live but other than maintenance, the place has gone downhill.

MOVING OUT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
When we first moved into our apartments in 2003, this was a great place to live. The people who rented here were all upper class. They had pool parties with live music and gave away gift receipts for businesses in the area, etc. Now they let people in who throw trash, cigarettes, beer bottles, etc. everywhere (especially the pool area). They have a lot of so-called rules that they arbitrarily apply to everyone except their friends. They decided to put in speed bumps without consulting anyone (and they put in ugly, high ones that everyone complained about). They finally removed the ones near their office, but if you have a low-wheelbase car, it's a problem. Try getting your packages from the office that keeps cutting back the hours they stay open (plus they leave earlier than posted). The management changes every month. When "Steven" was the manager, everything was great, but he has moved on to bigger and better things and they have replaced him with bimbos who won't return messages. There are only a few good maintenance people. The older guy is a jerk. It takes months to get something repaired (be sure to send certified letters). The walls are paper thin. I think the apartment above has had weight lifters .. or it sounds like it. The carpets have to be replaced with every new tenant because they're so cheap. And they will charge you for everything when you move out, including things that should be normal wear and tear. Periodically there is an ant problem. The fire alarms go off and it is two months later before they fix the hall fire doors to open again -- try carrying in groceries and having to open those heavy doors. They no longer keep the sidewalks/hallways clean. They won't let kids into the pool area alone, but they let "adults" trash it on weekends. They come into your apartment with very little notice (or none at all). The only thing they have that's great is the CARE TEAM people. They do brunches for the tenants (on an extremely low budget) and do a nice job .. and they're a super nice couple. Nice looking apartments and floor plans, but it's not worth it. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Read all the "NO" comments.....all true.
I lived at Jefferson Center for 3.5 years. Crazy, I know, but I finally had enough and moved out last weekend. Can't wait to get a bill for what they will probably claim as damage to the apartment. It's normal wear and tear (or less than normal) but the place is obviously not high end like they claim, they will probably charge me for the cheap --- carpet they think is so great, and who knows what else. Anyway, I would NOT recommend this place at all!! Granted I had a great rent price for the size of apartment I occupied for the past 3.5 years (note: "had" I don't think they even have that going for them anymore) but then they wanted $200 more a month. NO WAY, they have nothing to offer without the cheap rent. Actually they do have something to offer and that is poor management, horrible maintenance, and you can probably pick up some kind of disease, free of charge, from all the "trash" they allow at the pool/hot tub! Good luck!
