Messed Up on EVERY level

I have only been living at Jefferson 26 for a short while, and everything that they could have messed up, they have. Before I moved in, they double signed my room to me and another girl, and forced one of us to move out: taking one for the team, after I had spent all day moving into an apartment and had finally set my stuff up, I had to move into another one, with no help or apologies from the complex. I recently just got a bill from then claiming I haven't paid my last two months of rent, even though I have turned all rent in on time, and all the checks they claim are missing, have gone through my bank account. When I first moved in, I had signed a lease for a furnished apartment, and it took them 4 days to bring me my bed, meanwhile I had to sleep on the floor, with once again, no apologies. Any time I have ever had a problem, NOBODY helps, and any time you go into the office to ask a question or anything, they ----- and moan, and look at you like you are such a hassle. I HATE IT HERE. DO NOT MOVE HERE.

    DO NOT DO IT!

This place is literally the biggest joke around. Our a/c didn't work in two of the bedrooms in August/September and it took maintenance 1 month to actually fix it. Then once it started getting hot in June/July it went out again and still has yet to be fixed. From the outside view of this place it looks amazing, especially the pool and hot tub... WRONG! The pool was closed for almost the entire month of June and July because the complex was too cheap to get it cleaned. Also, the dumpsters are the most repulsive things in this place. We live down the hall from the dumpster and we can smell it from our apartment. Our ice maker and dish washer broke and maintenace said "we can't do anything about it." The noise is another joke. There have been times where I swore someone shot a gun outside of my window, but it was actually a drunk student either setting off bottle rockets, or throwing trash cans down from the top floor. The complex is terribly built, and the people who live here destroy it every weekend. Also, I was once chased up the stairwell here, probably by the guy who was sexually assaulting girls at 26th and Nueces. All in all, if you don't mind living in a terrible dump with terrible management, no pool, no a/c, noisy people, and broken appliances, then this place is for you!

i moved in the jefferson center in july 2007. it was nice and new. the management was good also. i only did not like when camden started building their complex. my nice view was gone and the deer started to disapear. i loved the gym, pool and even the computer room. it was fun living there. and i like they had washer and dryer in the apt. i only moved because it was out of district for acc. and they towed my car because i didnt have a current inspection tags. oh yeah we had little black ants in the bathroom and kitchen.

Good place to live, but too pricey

I've lived at this apartment for 2 years and it's been fine. Rent is way to much for this complex though and you would think after living here 2 years and signing 3 lease contracts they would be grateful, but no, they were not and they RAISE RENT. So be careful if you plan on staying here for longer than one lease term. They also DO NOT CARE if you lose your job or have to transfer jobs, they're just greedy and want your money. They say this is by law, but it is not a law by passed by the Texas Legislature, it's by their own HOA contract, which means THEY DON'T REALLY CARE about tenants and just want more money. Maintenance is great however, always quick to fix anything and that's the main reason we've stayed here for so long. Keep in mind "replacing" anything is not up to the maintenance guys, it depends on how cheap the owners are, and we haven't had any problems with that yet. Last summer our AC broke, they got a completely new unit out the next morning and replaced it, while providing us a temporary cooling system until it was fixed. Every other apartment we've been at takes like a week to get a new AC during the middle of the summer. Staff has been really nice. Great community events, 3-4 every month that usually involve free "good" food. The noise here is like at any other apartment, if you live close to college kids, below overly obese tenants, or your neighbors have dogs then yes it will be noisy. That is unless your apartment walls are made of solid concrete or 3 feet of insulation, good luck finding that.

          super cool

Hahaha, I love reading apartment theese reviews:) Things have been pretty good here and for an apartment that is a great thing to say. My fridge went out and yes my groceries went bad and I was HOT mad but ,Olivia (?I think), replaced the fridge with a super cool side by side that weekend. YES, I was maaaad but I have realized "Hey, it happens" at least I dont live in a house then I would of had to buy a new fridge. I was really excited for the bar and I finally got a chance to check ot out, &. . . KAREOKE, not my cup of tea but it was packed, I met a lot of my neighbors and we all had a blast! Too bad there isnt a dart board or Golden Tee, (hint hint). Parking near my building is excellent altough I have heard building 6 isnt as great, not sure why maybe less people have car ports. Gym needs a good elyptical but the treadmills are fine and the lap pool would be more usefull if I could swim laps, but I do have to say the Water Volleyball is a hit on weekends it gets crazy! Im looking at buying a house and I will miss walking to subway, walking home from the bar, and no stress maintainance, for sure.

            Honest Review

This place is honestly not a good place to live. Yes there are nice perks like a fairly well built gym with a nice pool however the overall structure of this place is terrible. The internet is one of the most frustrating things. I cannot remember the last time I watched a streaming video without it being choppy. That is with the ethernet cord plugged in. The walls are super thin and the carpet sucks. All the YES recommendations cannot be true. I am saying this very truthfully. There is no way I could live here again unless they lowered the rates a substantial amount.

                Great place!!!

When I moved to The Artisan I was a bit hesitant because of some of the reviews on here but once I moved there it was great! There are several community events every month, fun people, great pool, and lots of spaces to walk your dog. I love my 1 br. loft style apartment and parking is NEVER an issue.

                  Bad Management

The managment is very rude, especially the top level management. They are not willing to help with any problems that you are having and don't really care if you are happy or not. They will try to argue with you for everything. It takes days to get even the smallest things get repaired and the complex has very less parking, so it is very hard to find a parking anywhere close to your building, u need to park some where else.

                    From bad to worse!

My husband and I have lived here for four years. When JPI owned the property we never had any problems with the complex. As soon as Trinity took over things started getting bad-- it took days to get even the smallest things repaired, the complex was over leased so there was never any parking anywhere close to your building, etc. The new managment has been a complete nighmare, they are generally rude and not willing to help with any problems that you are having and don't really care if you are happy here or not. We are now in the process of moving out despite the location of the complex being very convenient for both of us. We simply can not handle anymore of this place.

                        What a waste....

I was so excited when I saw the floorplans! Huge, gorgeous... new - everything that I wanted. Then I did my homework and found it took very little to find out what the problem was here - EXTREMELY POOR MANAGEMENT. Despite my misgivings about the re[utation of the complex, I was willing to give it a try anyway. I really loved the floorplans and was willing to take a risk on them. Started the paperwork and then got hit with a $450 deposit?!?! Same job for years, same aparment for years, good credit (I double checked after leaving). So much for taking a risk on them, they confirmed all of the poor ratings in one shady move. I was willing to overlook the fact that I'm pretty sure the front office chick was on drugs, and the fact that there seemed to be tourists in the pool (who takes randowm pictures of buildings in their own complex?), the fact that so many people took the time to write up a review and no one seems impressed but there was no WAY I was going to be so stupid as to give them my money for nothing. I may not have the super huge space with the fantastic windows... but I have a good place with great management - which is worth it.

Gone downhill like a snowball gaining traction

I lived there a few years ago, and I also know a current resident who moved in 4 years ago. He says it has definitely gone downhill since the new management acquired the property and the bulldozers moved in. My experience: the place was nice looking on the outside, relatively quiet on the grounds (but loud, obnoxious neighbors), with pretty walkways, and the apt. was nice, with upgrated appliances, W/D in each unit, some with garages/carports. Unfortunately, the management's attitude sucked. They were sweet as honey when you first met them but, once the ink was dried on the lease and their commission was pocketed, they morphed into stupid, rude, anorexic, little "fashionistas" who never wanted to lift a polished finger and blamed residents who reported problems, instead of taking responsibility and resolving problems. For example, they blew off/avoided resolving noise complaints (referred residents to a non-existant "courtesy officer" or blamed people making complaints, instead of holding noisemakers responsible), and they jacked up the rent every time you blinked. I paid $650 for a one-bedroom apt. when I moved in, always paid my rent on time. When my lease expired, they pulled the old "bait and switch," telling me that only larger, more expensive units were available (despite the fact that many smaller units went obviously unoccupied for months). They finally offered me another unit comparable in size to the one I occupied, but priced it at $900, and it was in a crappy location: above an archway over traffic (you could even feel the building shake as cars drove by). I said, "Not Interested". The snotty leasing agent replied, sarcastically, "Good Luck finding something at this price." Good luck indeed: I ended up renting a house for $850 off Mopac and Spicewood Springs.

Experience of a prospective resident... Saved by the bell!

My husband and I found Jefferson Center (now called The Artisan) quite a nice place with wide roads, and decent looking apartments. We signed up for an apartment at a pre-decided rate on the agreement that we will get our own washer and dryer. However, after a couple of days, I notice that the rent for the same apartment and unit was $200 lesser online on another rent site. When I went to the office, I was told that the management cannot honor the lesser rate as it was a typo. Yeah, right. A few days later, I was told that we will have to get rid of our washer and dryer as the unit has its own washer and dryer that they do not want to move due to a change in policy. Slowly and steadily, I started realizing that staying in this community is just going to cause unnecessary drama and frustration and we decided to look for another place instead. Thanks to all of y'all who have shared your experiences and have helped us avoid a major hassle.

                              It gets worse and worse.

I have lived here for 2 years now. When I first moved in, it was Jefferson Center. It is now the Artisan. It has gotten progressively worse since the management change. I really liked the way Jefferson Center ran things. The Artisan is just awful. I'll start from the management change. Every time I had a problem with something, while it was Jefferson Center, they handled it super quickly. Now, I have had tons of problems, and they just do not care. My air conditioner broke in August. I was out of town when it broke. I came back to an apartment that was 97 degrees. I called them to let them know and they said they would get on it right away. Nothing. The next day I called back. I explained my situation again. They said that all they could offer me was like a window unit. It did absolutely nothing. It was so tiny and did not even cool one room in my apartment. They told me they had to rent a crane and get my unit off of the roof. I had to wait a week, in August, for them to fix my air conditioner. It was awful. Then my dishwasher broke. They came and ran it with CLR. That did nothing. Then, my air conditioner broke again. Then, my ice breaker broke. It didn't just break. The drawer that holds the ice shot out of my freezer. I told them that I had three problems for them to fix: my air conditioner, my icemaker, and my dishwasher. The maintenance guy came out. He made me take out my ice drawer and wash all the ice out of it. I had to move my fridge and pull the ice drawer the rest of the way out. He turned on a "backup air conditioner" and told me he would be back in a few days to fix the icemaker. He never came back. That night, my air conditioner broke again. It's just the same thing over and over again. The new management is awful. They painted the complex and it looks HIDEOUS! That's all I have for now.

The Jefferson Center apartments are a place to lay my head at night. Comfortable with very attractive landscaping; but noisy, and like most apartments, constructionally just "thrown" together. Just as with any place, there are positives and negatives. Weighed against the rent price, for now the apartments are favorable. If the price changes too much, I'll have to reconsider its worthiness. See no reason to complain about anything for if it doesn't please me, all I have to do is take my business elsewhere.

This place has steeply declined since it's fallen to the new management. Most of the commercial places, like Seattle's Best and Extreme Pizza have folded recently. There is construction on both sides of the property and it is very loud for most of the day. The staff couldn't care less about complaints (i.e. barking dogs and loud music), even ones made by several residents. I wouldn't have moved here if I had known what would happen.

No issues with mold, noise or anything for that matter. Parking sucks, unless you have a garage. But I besides that, I am really enjoying my new place :)

The grounds always look great and since I have lived here everything has worked in the recreation area. It's quiet for the most part there are sometimes when I can hear my neighbors but nothing out of control. I always tell my friends to move here, besides they gave me a $300 check for having one of my freinds live here. All they did is put my name down and said thats how they herd about this place. I am not moving any time soon thats for sure.

When the shoe is on the other foot.

So i completly understand that some people get upset when things dont go as planned, its perfectly normal, but even in life, you have to alwayse put yourself in someone elses shoes. I live at the Artisan and its not perfect but what place is. I have more sq feet than my dollar knows what to do with, i LOVE my track lighting! and my maintenance issues are alwayse taken care of. I used to work in property mgmnt and believe me, if you havent been there, you have no idea what its like. I mean think of your day, you wake up, get to work, and the phone rings every 20 seconds and you have to deal with the ENTIRE spectrum of individuals on a daily basis. Pissed off people and happy people. ITS AN EMOTIONAL ROLLARCOASTER!!!. You are the face of the company and everyone expects you to know and say and do everything to their expectations and unfortunatly you cant please everyone..its a rough job. Before i started i thought it sounded easy and relaxing. ANYTHING BUT! And its hard to alwayse have a happy face on when your trying to follow guidelines and rules and people constantly want to defy you and tell you why they think your full of BS. YES THERE ARE 400 SOME UNITS AND MORE THAN DOUBLE THAT IN RESIDENTS!!! MISTAKES WILL HAPPEN WHEN YOUR DEALING WITH 800 RENT CHECKS THAT ALL HAVE TO BE ENTERED INTO A COMPUTER STAMPED AND DEPOSITED BY THE THIRD! I SUGGEST IF YOU DONT WANT TO WORRY ABOUT OVERDRAFT FEES YOU SHOULD SUBMIT YOUR CHECK ON THE FIRST WHEN ITS DUE! On top of that they offer you the ability to pay your rent ONLINE!!! Give the office a break, not only that, when you take over a property, its even harder! From what i heard Trinity (the new owner/manager) has spent over 600,000 in upgrades AFTER the initial purchase. We have all new paint! beautiful new signs! the construction is inevidable but it only goes on during business hours, but more than anything i have some piece of mind here. You hear from two or three residents that are unhappy and it creats a stigma, but there are way more happy residents here than unhappy, i know quite a few of them and we are all going to renew or have renewed. So to all you unhappy people out there, just so you know, you complain to much and need to be more forgiving. PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT!

I had a similar issue with these people as the person below me, I gave them a check for an application fee and they promised me they wouldn t deposit it till they made sure I qualified. Well they lied to me and deposited it instantly and refused to give me a refund when I didn t qualify. They told me "written words on the contract take precedence over anything that was promised to me", bullsh** excuse. So I argued with the property manager and put up with her smug attitude till finally she said she would send out a refund check that I would get in a month, well 3 months later and I haven t received a thing. The people that work there have no integrity what so ever and will say anything to you to get a buck. Take my advice and stay clear of this place, it is bad news!

                                                Still waiting on a callback

I posted the recent review regarding the rent check that was cashed significantly earlier than the first of the month. I had spoken to ----- on Friday 11/02/07 and was promised to receive a return call later that day. Just to update everyone, I still have not received a call from the office. I think this is a great avenue to report a problem in progress and have prospective residents view just how things get handled and how timely the process is. I looked and do not see my other review posted on 11/02/07. Maybe it was deleted by accident but to sum it up; I left a check ( which I turned in in person ) about 1.5 weeks before rent was due and dated the check appropriately for the 1st of the month. Well, it was cashed a considerable amount before the first and cleared my account three days prior to 11/01/07. This is a rent account and therefore did not have the funds for rent until 11/01/07. Therefore, the check bounced causing fees at my financial institution and the apartments has requested a fee. I spoke with ----- on 11/02/07 about the situation and I was told that I am one of 400 units and can't expect the office to be on top of every resident. After a lengthy discussion, she agreed to speak with the property manager and return my call the same day. I decided to post this problem and update on the resolution, if any, that occurs. In my opinion however, I feel that any entity should not cash and therefore receive interest off any money that is not rightfully theirs until a certain date and consequently am being punished for trying to get my rent in early so as to have it there on the 1st.

                                                  Rent Increase

The previous comment was talking about a rent increase and that is absolutely true. I had the same situation. I had a 2-2 for 649.00 and when my lease was up they had to raise it to 950.00. There was absolutely no negotiating and they told me also that it was an error on the behalf of past management. Pretty funny how they made an error on EVERYONE's lease. However, I chose to move to a 1 bedroom and continue renting from them because I really liked the location. The management has once again changed and Jefferson Center has been bought out completely. They are now going to be Artisan. The staff is very friendly, service in prompt, and I finally have the feeling that they want their residents to be happy and stay living there. I'm fine with what I pay in rent now because it now seems worth it.
