movin' out
i will admit these apt's are nice looking, but we've had some serious ant problems that we have complained about several times...it took the maintenance people forever to come out, when we had a leak in the laundry room, and pest control is only here 1 day a week! so the other 6 days you're screwed and you get to clean ants out of all your cabinets and sinks...the rent increase was extremely outageous, about $125 more! another apt manager told me the usual is like 25 bucks...so we will be moving to somewhere more reasonable and hopefully less ants...don't move here...oh yeah and the office staff does change like every month..everytime i go in the office it's new people..and they're all a bunch of idiots..

Pleasure becomes PAIN!
In 2003 when I first looked at Jefferson Center I thought it was way too nice, but I could not afford to live in such a great apartment complex.

A few months later I found out that they were offering Specials to people at my workplace. So we moved in. When we moved in they made us jump through hoops to get into the complex. We had to have adaquate income, good references, and no criminal history. They were very hard on us because we were 3 guys moving into a 3 bedroom and they didnt want the complex to become party central.

This was under JPI but with a different management team. The first 6 months were great, but I think I really should have paid attention to the fact that they changed office staff almost every two weeks.

Well party central It is become.

There are underage drinking "Frat Boy" and "Party/Jock" types at the pool, in the business and entertainment center at all hours.

I can not count the number of times I have come upon people having sex in the hot tub.

The noise of my neighbors wakes me up at all hours. But the woman upstairs is convinced it is us, even though the courtesy officer has come over on multiple occasions and said there was no noise in our apartment.

The stairwells and inner hallways reek of cigarett smoke and have butts everywhere on weekends.

Residents track mud and durt into the parking lot by going mudding in the fields between us and the adjacent athletic facility.

Theft, car break in's and vandalism are common.

The place is running down hill so fast that it is sad to see.

They could offer me the place at a 50% discount and I would not stay 1 day past my lease and I am considering ways to break my lease before my car gets stollen like that of 3 of my neighbors.

"STILL AN UNHAPPY TENANT"
Lets discuss the rent and management! When I first moved in, it was 2003, rented a 2-2 for 829.00 a month, the next year that I renewed my lease it was $799.00 per month, the rent went down, now THIS YEAR they have jumped my rent to $1200.00, a $400.00 increase, non-negotionable with Ms. H.P., the manager.
I am furious that any place would jump their rent by $400.00 a month, its inexcusable!!!! They are trying to push out their good tenants I'm assuming. I have talked with many apartment complexes regrading these $$$$ and nobody has seen a jumped rent hike like this since the 1990's. I have heard alot of bad things from other tenants regarding this new management, I had no problems until this rent hike. They say that it was an error that my rent was so low from the previous management company, so they are playing the "Blame Game". They handed out a flyer saying if you renew at least 2 months early you would get $250.00 off your next months rent, today I find out, its a misprint. Unbelievable!! Now I am looking for another complex to move into, I will not renew with them, they are full of words and excuses, errors and misprints. So if you plan to move into this complex, think twice about it......they will screw you eventually one way or another!!!

a cops perspective..if that matters
Either way I don't care.

Just know that the management staff are what we consider to be mentally disturbed individuals. Seriously, consider that the boss lady has a god complex and is extremely emotionally unstable. Her staff is nearly as incompetent as she is..and they aren't even nice to look at.
Completely unpleasant to deal with once they hook you with their "fabulous!" floor plans.
They're unorganized, contradicting, morons..please spare yourself the hassle.

Parking is a pain in the ---, walls are paper thin - you WILL get to know your neighbors in one way or another.

Don't let the pretty colors fool you ..
This place is a nightmare, and I am even breaking my lease to buy a house and never have to go through the ordeal of landlords like this again.

Nice Bait, Downhill Slide
I saw the apt on the front cover of one of those free apartment guides that they have everywhere. It was the highlighted one of the month or whatever. I saw it, visited and was sold. This was back when they just opened up. At first, it was great! The management helped with a lot of stuff and I negotiated a good price with a free garage. So that was a plus! ... But then, as time went by...the management got worse and worse to the point of me fuming and raging. The structure was ok until it would start raining and the so called "patio" door would start to leak. They tried to fix it numerous times but it would still leak. A lot of the things inside broke >> garbage disposal, closet rods, towel rods, microwave, and some other things. Overall, I think it's ok if you're down for driving the distance back into Austin. That's my real complaint...just so damn far from everything. Moved out this week. I don't even know how they stay in business with the management they have right now... bunch of faker chickens working the front... ugh. good luck..

I hate this place!
This is the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in! Take my advice steer clear of this property! The management is unbelieveably horrible. They love to give you very short notice that they will be entering your apartment or cleaning the building by powerwash. They don't tell you until the put a little note on your door, usually the main door that no one uses, the night before and after the office is closed of course, this giving you way less than 24 hours notice. Plus as usual they are NEVER responsible for any damages what so ever at any time no matter what they do or don't do. They make it quite clear at all times that you the resident are nothing to them. And this is only the beginning of the trouble you will have living here. The pool is unkeep and unmonitored and the complex refuses to do anything about it. Don't ask for any maintenance or security either,,,forget that. The rent is the highest ever seen for Austin and the qualifying to obtain a lease with them is more grueling than buying a house or car. I regret ever signing on to live here and will never recommend this place. Take heed the other warnings on this site, I agree with them. No joking, you will regret it.

Punk Party Central
Apartments are nice if you like paper thin walls. Bass from neighbors TV rattles the whole apartment without excessive volume.

Plenty O Parties thats for sure. Get Loaded and go swimming is the name of the game. Oh yeah and play raunchy rap music too. Who cares if there are young children around.

Don't bother the management they are too busy being away at meetings to call back unless it is to their benefit.

Fabulous!
This is a great place to live, for sure! Huge apartments and great, friendly staff is just the beginning. They have social events weekly that do a lot to help you get to know your neighbors. It's well-kept and fun to look at!

Love or hate listening to your neighbors?
I have lived here for almost a year and have grown to hate it here. Mostly because you can hear everything in the apartments around you. Paper thin walls makes living here a nightmare. Can't tell you how many times I have had to put pictures back on the wall from them falling down or have been awoken due to very late night parties.
Don't try calling the office, nobody answer's the phone, and hope you don't have a maintenance emergency because it will still takes days for them to fix it. I recomend spending your money elsewhere, their are a lot of properties on Parmer just keep looking.

It's great if you dont mind your car getting broken into or stolen.
I have lived at Jeffereson Center for about 7 months now. The apartments are nice but the management is backstabbing.
Its also great if you dont mind your car getting broken into or even stolen.

A friend of mind got his brand new car stolen from this apartment communinty. Another friend got her wheels stole and the car was lefted on bricks. This was the fifth or sixth break in this month. The aparment complex doesnt do anything about this matter. We asked several times for gates to be put up but no good.
HOW MUCH MORE DOES IT TAKE FOR SOMEONE TO BE TO GET HEARD HERE?!?!
After a year they tried to bump my rent $50 in a slow economy...after calling them two weeks prior and they said no increase is planned.

The traffic down the main entrance is very excessive and I personally have had confrontations with people I asked to slow down...both residences and peopel using the apartments to cut through from 620 to Parmer Lane.

I've asked them to add additional speed bumps but nothing yet after months of complaining.

There is no control over the pool area and is normally over run with people coming there that do not live there.

If it were not such a pain to move again after one year, I would have moved.

The office staff has changed several times since I have been here in one year's time.

Apartments are ok, but nothing that nicer than anything else I looked at...

Parking is not good.

Couldn't be happier...
Jefferson Center is really a great place to live! In spite of recent staff turnover, the new crew is wonderful and work really well together. They are always happy to see you when you walk in the office and willing to help however they can. The maintenance and ground keepers are so friendly and work hard to keep this place looking beautiful. And having a CARES Team is certainly an enjoyable amenity!

Very Over priced, Backstabbing...
This place is a joke. They require a ridiculos amount of money to live there and then expect you to keep up with them everytime they change managment and staff. You have no clue who you´re dealing with half the time because they can´t keep front office staff longer then six months. I moved in when they first opened, the place was nice but has been going downhill quickly. The trash in the parking lot and breeze way is an understatement. They only enforce parking rules when it is convient to them could care less about you and your sitiuations when you need help (unless you have a lot of money to dish out). Courtsey officer is sad. He could really care less and if it is past a certain time, too bad, he doesn´t come to help.

The consturction is poor inside the apartments. The carpets are expected to last 48 months but don´t last more than 20. I know this because I´ve been in the same apartment for more than 22 months. DON´T WASTE YOUR TIME!! Living here is clearly judging a book by its cover.

Overrated is right
I was one of the first tenants and still live at Jefferson Center...but only because I havn´t wanted to expend the cost of moving again. At first glance, the apartments appear great, however, the construction is very poor. They are great salesmen here. They even told me that the apartments were built to condo specs...ha! The maintenance dept is some of the worst I have ever encountered. Management no longer cares about you once you move in and they offer little to no assistance. The courtesy officer is a joke. This complex does not enforce parking rules. And allows trash to build up in parking lots, on the grounds and even in the breezeways. I won´t be living here much longer, and I will never reccommend them.

Great place to live
I have lived here for 2 years and love it. The staff and maintenance people are the best!! It´s like living in your own little city here. The sound proofing could be better but i can live with that because everything else in wonderful. The apartments are great, spacious & clean. They change our air conditioning filters on a regular basis (no need to ask). If you are looking for a better place to live - this is it.

Pretty nice overall
After escaping from University Heights (I´d say 99% of their reviews are accurate), this place was obviously a far cry from UH´s standards, and for me it was of comparable price.

The units are fairly well equipped, and the maintenance staff as well as the office personnel have been very attentative to my needs. The entertainment center and the swimming pools are also nicely equipped, and the onsite CAREs team tries their best to encourage community involvement with scheduled events.

Minor quibbles include thin walls (as mentioned by another reviewer), and inadequate parking enforcement. By parking enforcement I mean other people tends to like to park in front of my garage. But that´s usually caused by inconsiderate drivers more than the fault of management.

The staff is the first thing you notice at Jefferson Center and they are wonderful! So kind and friendly... The next thing is the spacious apartments. The rooms are huge! Then you get to experience all the great amenities from a Teaching Kitchen to social events planned by the on site CARES Team. This really is a great place to live!

The apartments are a nice concept but I wouldn´t trust the staff as far as I could throw them. It took them over two weeks to process my application, telling me to go ahead and make moving arrangements and then adding additional fees after I set my move-in date. They waited until after I had made moving arrangements (they knew this) to tell me I would have to pay an additional $100 non-refundable application fee, as well as doubling the deposit. Had they told me this when I initially gave them my application, I would never have moved in there.

all looks...
I´ve lived in this apartment for over a year and have found that its mostly aesthetically pleasing. The staff (for the most part) is extra friendly and willing to serve until you move in. Then, they act as if you are asking too much of them in a simple maintainence request. The walls are thinner than any other place I´ve lived & the apartments are overall shoddily made. Its as if they were just thrown together quickly. Also, they amenities are greatly exagerated.

Great place to live!
I currently rent a studio apt. for $500.00 per month. The apt. is brand new, new appliances including washer and dryer. The staff is great. I have a personal trainer that meets me at the gym at the apt. (who by the way is also very reasonable!) Any problem I have the staff take care of. I use the beauty shop located on site for hair and nails. The Seattle´s Best coffee shop,
Subway and the new tanning salon on site are also very handy. As well as the little boutique when I need a gift for a co-worker. I couldn´t be happier!

New, spacious, inexpensive
Paying $889 for about 1200 sq ft, 2 Bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment, with W/D included. I think that´s pretty cheap. The complex was just built in 2002, so we were the first to live in our apt. Nice facilities, 24 hr fitness center, gorgeous pool, some shops and businesses in the front of the complex. They´ve been promising us a Subway (sandwich/subs) for several months though it still hasn´t opened up yet. All new appliances, nice floorplans, love my kitchen island. The only problem I have is that the distribution of the central air is very bad in our apartment (not enough heat in my room, too much in my roommate´s room).

Great Place
It is a little out of the way but the apartments are great. Spacious, all new, and unique in their floor plans. The rent is not cheap but it is worth it. The staff are extremely friendly (They even call my dog by his name). I would reccomend this apartment to anyone and I have lived in many apartments.
