It is nice compared to...
It is nice compared to my last apartment, but after doing some apartment looking recently, I have found some pretty new apartments close to here that are priced the same, but with much nicer upgrades.

I moved here for about 7 months. The worst part about this place is the staffing. The two women that work at the apartments don't know what they're doing and make many errors and the assistant manager and manager are very very rude. I had a major ant problem in my apt and the ants would be everywhere. They didn't fix it. And then in moving out, they also are very very tricky and fine you for everything even cleaning and it's pretty excessive. Don't live here if you can, it's not worth the headache.

I currently live here and am fithing with them in regards to the RAT problems that I have and it was taken me 4 calls in the last almost month to get some one out here (mngr) invoved! My neighbor behind me has rats as well. I moved begining of this year and i have so many request, there's is always something wrong! Water hear, lights out, closet shelves and now RATS disgusting!!!! I think this violates our leasing contract and is a good reason to break the contract. The office staff is non responsive!

RATS
Don't move here, office staff rude, unresponsive. In order to get anything done you must contact the main office. It took a week to get someone out to look at the rat problem. I had to get traps and poison and tell the maintenance people how to keep them out. Information at leasing was wrong and misleading. Extra charges added on at move-out. Random noise in the bathroom at all hours of the night for over 2 years and never fixed. Lights in the complex are always out. People dump trash everywhere. No one picks up after their dogs. The list could go on and on...

This Place Sucks!!! Run as fast as you can, in the opposite direction!
We moved out about a month ago and we've never been happier to be out of an apartment in our lives. This was literally the worst apartment living experience EVER! The maintenance and office staff is rude and unprofessional, as well as disorganized. We shared our apartment with ants the entire time we lived there. Not just a couple, but like an ant pile. I told them several times and they never seemed to care. I finally tried to take matters into my own hands and do bug control myself. They always make money errors and never seem to know what's going on. Don't fall for the "sure deposit" either. It means nothing, apparently. It is supposed to be like an insurance policy to cover damages...I guess it doesn't cover anything. They also charge you a pet deposit, pet fee and pet rent every month...that's a lot of money for a member of your family that weighs under 20 lbs. My advice...go down the road, there are PLENTY of nice, clean and helpful apartments in the area.

Thornbury apartments
I moved her about a month ago and I really love it. The trees remind me of east Texas where I grew up. Getting used to living in an apartment wasn t as difficult as I thought it would be. I love my apartment the layout worked so well for my furniture. I looked at many places before I moved and the one thing that kept me coming back was how nice the girls in the office were to me, talk about rolling out the red carpet! I couldn t believe how helpful they were; it sure made things a lot easier knowing they had everything ready for me from start to finish. The only thing I was disappointed with was the maintenance service, I really felt I was putting him out when I was asking him question on how things worked in my apartment, and he was a bit rude. I just called the office instead and they helped me out. I m really looking forward to living in the Dallas area and lover the shopping & restaurants they have around here. My neighbor next door brought me warm cookies when I moved in and I thought that was so nice thanks Marie!

They have rats!
I found rat droppings and notified them. Nothing. I then called to remind them of me notifying them. Nothing. I then wrote them again when I heard noises (2 weeks later) and reminded them this was my 3rd request. They then sent someone out. I continued to find rat droppings in every room.

TERRIBLE PLACE-I DESPISE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT
If it didn't cost so much to end our lease early, I would have after the first month was up. We live in a 3rd floor 1 bedroom non-renovated apt. I'm not sure what others are talking about "bad insulation" because I never hear any of my neighbors but maybe mine are just quiet. Where do I begin with the list of problems this place has..the ants are a huge problem-we are clean people and still have ants and bugs, I called "maintenance" and their spray didn't seem to work so I tried my own multiple times and it still didn't kill them off. Maintenance...wow. They are so lazy and worthless. They're prompt to come look around after you submit your request, but they do nothing to fix the problem, or they say they do and it's just BS. Windows have been a huge issue-almost ALL of our cheap blinds have fell off the windows just from trying to open them &they're all bent up, when we moved in we didn't even have a screen in the living room windows &I didn't realize it til my cat was sticking her head out the window ON THE 3RD FLOOR, &windows in our bedroom have broken locks or something so our window never closes all the way and it's hard to open-however, maintence "fixed that" even though it's still broken. The flooring is terrible-the laminate is coming up in the bathroom and in the kitchen and has paint drippings all over them from the lazy maintenance. Our dishwasher always leaks and I told them and they came in and said it doesn't...I ran it again..and YES IT DOES. When we moved in we didn't even have lighting in the living room? We had to buy fixtures to update that. Our apt is so old and outdated-there's cracks in the ceiling, dents in all of the crown molding, chips&paint drippings in the kitchen counters, etc. It's so run down. AND THE "BEAUTIFUL TREES&SCENARY" ARE BULL. The trees are so annoying-don't park your car ANYWHERE near them...if you can find a spot like that. The sap and pollen just ruin your paint, the branches are always falling off and landing on the cars, when it rains the mud floods all over our sidewalks &to fix this they hire people to come blow around the leaves or cut the trees or mow..but they do it at 7-8 AM...IF U HAVE A DAY OFF N WANNA SLEEP IN THAT'S JUST TOO BAD BECAUSE THEY'RE USING CHAINSAWS LEAF BLOWERS LAWN MOWERS TRASH BINS, ETC RIGHT OUTSIDE YOUR WINDOW. Perfect example-Yesterday morning at 10 am-my first day off in a long time I was finally getting some rest until I about had a heart attack when I heard a chainsaw right outside my bedroom window-I look out and there's workers standing on my balcony. WTF? I guess they were cutting trees down. Thanks for the heads-up, office management, that there'd be people using a chainsaw on our balcony. Speaking of the managers here, THEY ARE TERRIBLE TOO!!They're so rude and snobby. We moved here from outta state and our water bill somehow is still being sent to our other address (our water ball from this address is sent to another state ? lol)..we went to the office talked to them called the company, went back to the office and it's still not fixed because now it's just sent to office and they put a notice on our door telling us we're late..if I don't receive it myself I'm not paying it. It's not my fault. OMG THE MAIL. for the first few months, all my mail was getting sent back and I would receive other peoples mail. I had to keep leaving messages in my box that my name was ___ , NOT ___ . If you are getting shipped a package, sometimes they leave a note in ur box to pick it up. If they don't, you won't know about it and they'll ship it back. The pool & fitness area=------. Pool is flooded in leaves & is always dirty, the hot tub never works-it's only worked like 3 months since we've been here and that was in the summer. Of course maintenance is "working on that". Fitness area=wow...theres like 5 machines and none of them work haha they all squeak and wobble &i'm scared to use em cuz i think they'll fall apart while i'm on em. There's no TV in there? just a plug in the wall. odd. The gates NEVER WORK. They are constantly stuck part way open. Our lease is up in 3 months and I can't wait; however, our friends just moved out of here and they said the were charged ridiculous amounts after their walk-through even though the place was clean and they didn't do any damage, so I am nervous to see what they TRY and charge us. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!! HUGE MISTAKE IF YOU DECIDE TO MOVE HERE-YOU WILL BE MISERABLE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LEASE.

Don't move here
My boyfriend and I have been for almost a year and cannot wait until our lease is up. We have had so many problems and none of them have been taken care of. I had a garage and the remote decided to work on some days and when I complained the maintenance staff just oiled it, which clearly isn't the problem it was that the remote that wasn't working properly. It continued and I complained again and they oiled it again and then I just asked for another garage and the only ones available were like miles away from my apartment. Not to mention the gates are broken 80% of the time. Parking is horrible if you get in past 10 at night don't expect to get a parking spot. Then we had problems with our lock they told us that you just had to wiggle it a little. We hear are neighbors above us with every step, every conversation, every shower. The insulation sucks. We also have either rats, squirrels, or raccoons in our ceiling. We complained and they told us they have bait traps and they just bite through the 2 by 4's and there isn't anything further they can do about it. It's the price we pay for the "beautiful trees and scenery" they said. So i just get to listen to rats crawl in my ceiling how peaceful. The caulking on our shower knob came off, we complained they never fixed it. They recently came into our apartment with request forms that weren't even for our apartment! And more recently we found mold in our pantry, talk about disgusting. I just want out of this horribly place I shouldn't be paying $900 plus for this apartment.

I lived here a few years ago, and am writing this out of frustration in being able to find an apartment complex as good as this one. I wish their rent hadn't gone up so much so I could live here again. I upgraded to a larger apartment after my first lease was up, and I lived both above and below people in this complex. I never heard a step from my upstairs neighbors, and the only sounds I ever heard from neighbors was when the kids across the hall from me would play during the day time. I never once saw a roach in either apartments. The fact that the fitness center is 24 hours was nice. The pool was cleaned daily, as I saw the pool boy cleaning it many mornings on my walk to the fitness center. Literally the only problem I had when I lived here was the parking. If you don't make it home in the middle of the day, good luck getting one of the first-come first-served covered parking. If you get home late, good luck parking close to your apartment. all in all, this is the best complex I've lived in, and I'd love to come back. Lower your rent? ;)

made HUGE money error, MUD flooding the first floor DON'T MOVE HERE!!! IT'S HORRIBLE!!
My boyfriend and I moved in about a year ago. THANK GOD OUR LEASE IS ALMOST UP! First of all, you get the cops called on you here for playing guitar hero to loud, the apartments are on a slant and so when it rains or even with the sprinkler comes on, there is mud in front of the stairs therefor, you have to literally jump across to where the grass is. The BIGGEST mistake was when I wrote a check for $100 and they cashed it in as $1,000. NOT KIDDING. For a good week and a half the manager and assistant manager were beating around the bush to give me my money back then they finally did with compensation. It doesn't matter though. IT WAS A HUGE MISTAKE AND ERROR on their part. It also takes WEEKS for things to get fixed around this dump. If i am paying you 910 a month to live in this "supposedly nice" apartment, I expect my stuff to be taken care of within at least 3 days. OH! Also, if you are late on your rent even 1 or 2 days they rape you of your money for $100. Also, the parking is HORRIBLE. DON"T MOVE HERE!!!!!!!! IT WILL BE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF YOUR LIFE!

You get what you pay for
I live in a 2 bedroom/ 2 bath second floor unit facing Chase Oaks Blvd. Compared to where I used to live, Thornbury is wonderful. Other than normal noise that you would have at any apartment complex, it is peaceful and quiet. The back of the property is on the golf course. There is a nice neighborhood behind that. You can walk about three blocks and you are on a park trail. I am paying the same amount as my previous apartment, but I am getting crown moulding, built-in microwave, separate washer/dryer room (with a door), NO popcorn ceiling, large balcony, large master bathroom with walk-in closet and separate linen closet. The second bedroom is large, but the closet is small. I only use that for visitors, so it works for me as a guest bedroom/office. It would be good for a child also. I knew about the parking, so it was not an issue for me. I have two legs that work and don't mind walking a few extra feet for the price of the apartment. The two maintenance requests I called in to the office were fixed the next day. I don't know who is having trouble with the office - they have always been nice to me. But, I approach them with a professional attitude and am not confrontational. I have lived here two years and just signed another lease. My rent has not increased in three years.

Go somewhere else
1st off parking sucks- if you have any sort of life and don't come home right after getting off work, you won't get a parking spot, and you'll have to park outside of the "security" gate. Which is broken 75% of the month. Didn't have a problem with bugs until recently- then I had water bugs, spiders, and other crawly things pop up all the time! Had several leaks from the apartment above me, one was fixed, but the other one never got fixed before I moved out and had caused damage to the bathtub. The light outside the walkway to my apartment was always out and I called several times to get it fixed... never was.

so my husband and i have been living here since about sept 08. we've had a few problems but they have always fixed them for us. I read alot of the other reviews and if yall don't mind me giving you advice this is it. Don't ask them...tell them. Anytime something was wrong i go in there and tell them it needs to be fixed. And when i did my walk through i was extremely picky because you have to be. they are going to try and stick you for every little thing when the lease is up so you have to be prepared. And i know they have been bought again by this new company and haven't had to deal with them yet so maybe they are different but the way i see it, I am paying to live here so they have no excuse to tell you no about anything. and yes parking isn't assigned but you knew that before you signed the lease and trust me it does suck from time to time but it could be much much much worse.

NO IDEA WHATS GOING ON HERE
We spent a good six to eight months looking for an apartment, and when we saw the upgraded model apartment in this complex (vaulted ceilings, BERBER CARPET, gas fireplace, stainless steel appliances, and faux granite countertops) we thought, wow, THIS is the place for us! The carpet is REALLY what sold me on this apartment, since at my last one we had the generic beige apartment complex carpet that doesn't keep well after about five vaccuumings. So we apply, put down our deposits, get all of our stuff ready to move, took off work...we all know how much of a hassle that stuff is. Well, a week before were scheduled to move in, my boyfriend calls the complex asking if we could see our particular unit so he could take measurements for the furniture. They said yes, but it's not quite finished being upgraded, but go ahead. So we go in, and guess what? No berber carpet. The first time we saw the model, we told the agent how much we LOVED the carpet, because we hated the old one, and even went into detail about it. Well guess which carpet we have? The same old beige, nasty, cheap stuff. Not to mention the sliding glass door in my bedroom that leads to the balcony was SMASHED, and there was glass everywhere. So we take both complaints to the office, and our agent says theres nothing she can do about the carpet because she didn't know they changed it. She offered us an accent wall for free (which we politely declined because we had been planning on painting ourselves and had already purchased our supplies) but other than that said there were no other options. So we move in anyway, get all the painting done...and when we go to clean the brushes...no hot water, and no water pressure either. Literally just a trickle from all the faucets, AND the shower. So we go to the office AGAIN, and they don't come to fix that for at least two days. We finish moving in, and when I went to get a glass of water from the sink...it was this weird, milky color. Never seen anything like it. So I call the emergency maintenance hotline, because it was around 10 p.m., and the guy says he'll come fix it in the morning, and to just let it run and see if it clears up. He comes the next morning, says something about the water heater, says he'll fix it. I come home from work and the water is still murky. So I call the office, and they tell me that it's Plano water and that's how it's supposed to be. Well I've lived here 20 years and NEVER seen it like that. Neither have my parents. The office refused to come out and look at it, so I called the fire department to look at my water heater...and they said someone had done a horrible job with the saudering and it needed to be redone...and that I should call the health department about the water because it definitely didn't look right. So I try talking to the office AGAIN, and AGAIN they tell me it's normal, that's how it's supposed to be, and "why do you expect everything to be perfect, this complex was built in 1996." No kidding, that's a direct quote. I don't expect perfection, but since I AM paying for this upgraded apartment, I do expect decent customer service and clean drinking water, neither of which I have gotten. So finally, about a week later, I go in and ask to talk to the manager who's been on vacation, and SHE chews me a new one for calling the fire department and the health department over "normal water"!!! She then tells me it's just air bubbles, and treats me like I'm an idiot. Even if it IS air bubbles, no one told me that, no one bothered to come look at it for at least five days, so how am I supposed to know it's okay to drink?? Maybe I caught her on a bad day or something but the way she talked to me was practically abuse, and I was extremely polite to her even though I'm really tired of dealing with this, and I've only been here about two weeks. On top of all that, I asked her about the carpet and she said since I didn't come to her before I signed the lease, it was my fault I was unhappy with it. All in all, from my perspective....if you want anything done around here you have to do it yourself, and don't expect any help from the office, because they are crazy. EDIT Okay so I wrote a previous review about how unpleasant it has been here. First off I want to state that I love my actual apartment, and besides the functionality of it, it is a beautiful apartment. However, since we moved in, every time we turn on the gas fireplace, the whole apartment smells like gas within a matter of seconds, so we just turn it off. Well the other day I got chilly and thought maybe that was just the smell it gave off when you haven't used it in a while, so I just sucked it up and turned it on and tried to wait out the smell. Then the fire alarm went off. I quickly turned off the fireplace and opened a window, and the alarm stopped. So I called the maintenance guy, and he came while I was at work, supposedly checked it out, and left a work order saying it was fine. Well, we tried the fireplace later, and it did the same thing, so I had my boyfriend poke around in the chute, and guess what he finds??? Wadded up clothes. In the chute. I don't know how the maintenance guy missed that one. Can anyone say fire hazard???

Undecided
First of all my apartment,my neighbors, maintenance and the management staff are very nice. Its got the movie theater, Chase Oaks Golf Course and Asia World Market with in walking distance. Things that I am not impressed by was A person of interest to the police was hiding out in our complex, a "birthday party" that got out of control had to have several police cars on the scene to break it up, car searches and etc. In the past I have seen several different patrol units "patrolling the area". The gates usually break several times a month, there are no regulated assigned parking so trying to park near your apt after 9:00pm is impossible. Also at times you have people who drive their cars with stereo up loud.. Also recently the apartment complex was bought up by Berkshire Properties so I don't know how that will reflect on the future of this property.. Despite the negatives I have enjoyed living here, but I am happy to be moving to a new property.

I have been staying here since Oct 07 and I've had silverfish, spiders, mosquito's, and recently two big rats came out of my Hot Water heater closet...the rats ate a hole through the walls and have been entering my kitchen at night. Okay place for temporary stay but don't want to make it permanent
When I first moved to Plano, I didn't have many choices because I had to transfer my lease when I was offered a position here. I chose Thornbury because it was the only affordable complex. Management is helpful, though they can be slow to respond sometimes. The location is great, and the trees are really beautiful as is the pool area. Maintenance does a good job when they repair things in your unit, and they always let you know when they are coming in. It is also a very dog-friendly place if you have a dog. Rent was not raised on us when we renewed, so I haven't experienced what other former resident have. I have a few deal-breaking issues with the complex, however, and I am not going to renew my lease when it comes up for renewal next Spring. First, we have had issues with bugs and rats. No rats have ever come into our unit, but they have wreaked havoc on our patio and in our patio's storage closet. I had to toss several items I had stored outside because the rats chewed through them or left feces on them. Pest control was supposed to monitor, but I have never seen them. We also have had problems with bugs--spiders, ants, flies, silverfish, and gnats. We are VERY clean people, so this is very disturbing. It doesn't matter what we do; they just keep coming in. The good thing is that management took off our rent the cost of traps and bait that we had purchased ourselves. Second, littering is an issue. Many times, there is trash just outside our front door and patio. Also, residents like to throw trash in the bed of our truck, or just leave take-out containers on the bumper. It seems kind of rude. Third, the walls are paper-thin. You can hear EVERYTHING. I have been awakened many times by not-so-G-rated activities going on in the apartment next door. Finally, some residents seem a bit questionable. I don't feel safe here, and never leave my apartment at night alone. I've seen the Plano police here many times, and a notice was placed on our door in April that a "person of interest" had been lured out and arrested. We were never given further information. I get the feeling that there are drug deals going on all the time in our complex. And, some of the residents just look a bit dodgy. I don't have any evidence to back that up, but I don't have a good feeling about this complex. I guess it is better to be safe than sorry.

Hopefully, eventually the plane will land...
I currently live in these apartments. They actually aren't bad to live in as long as nothing ever goes wrong and you don't ever need to have the Administration staff do anything. A yeas ago I tried out one of the elliptical machines in the fitness center. they sound like a Model-T Ford that's running Fred Flinestone style. I asked a year ago for them to get them fixed they said they'd get right on it. A year later, we're renewing our lease and I asked again if someone could look at the machines. They again said that they would get someone right on it. I suppose that it's my fault for only requesting that they "take a look at" the machines, for up to this point that's pretty much all that's been done.

appliance hell.
So i strongly suggest that anybody who likes to cook or even use their appliances such as the toilet, fridge, sink, & oven do not move into this complex. They are in need of an appliance overhaul. Within the first 2 wks I had TEN yes TEN at the very least maintenance problems. This does not include my water heater having to be replaced and fixed another time as it was replaced with another old water heater. Nor does it include my living room window which leaks water. OH JOY. Here's the run down. My oven doesnt work. It over cooks things the mechanism that regulates the heat is broken so it just continues to get hotter.. Which the maintenance crew replaced with another 15 year old oven.. My fridge also broke. and was replaced with another old fridge. My really spectacular linoleum bathroom floor peeled up behind my toilet. The bathtub-though it is a garden tub- is just disgusting. They need to get some caulk up in here. My sink leaks every time i turn it on out the back. .My dishwasher has leaked. Appliances here just kind of suck. I think thats it.. Oh no and I can hear my upstairs neighbors everytime they move. which by the way is more frequent after the hours of 12am. I understand you get what you pay for I also understand this is apartment living but please tell me when there will actually be a place thats worth renting for more than a year. OH & there are bugs. and boy do i hate bugs. Sorry. Just thought everyone should know the treachery that is thornbury at chase oaks. And yes I am a little bitter.

A "Person of Interest"
Everyone that lives in this complex has received a letter on their door saying that someone that lives here was allowing an "illegal occupant" wanted by several police departments including plano. I can only assume that the fact they had to lure him away is a sign that we was more than likely a violent offender or assumed armed, which would then lead me to beleive that drugs are involved. I wrote the previous review and i'm lowering the "fear for my life" thing. ---- this place

Think Twice
As with most apartments, management and neighbors make all the difference in the world. In the past 6 mos, this community has taken are real nose dive. The police have been out several times in the early a.m. hours and the clientel resembles most section 8 housing developments. The management staff is unresponsive for the most part and forget about call backs because they just don't happen. They've definitely lost sight of the fact their residents are their customers. The maintenance staff is very nice and attempt to be as accommodating as possible even if the issues don't get resolved the on first visit. Parking is an issue as the only "reserved" spots are the garages which you can rent for an additional fee. After living here for almost 2 years, I no longer feel safe. Rent may be affordable but is it worth sacrificing your personal safety? If you're going to rent here anyway, try for the south side of the community closest to Legacy Dr. - Good luck!

Horrible
Parking is horrible, staff is horrible and they increase your rent everytime your lease is up for renewal. My neighbor's rent just increased $80.00. There is a different leasing agent every week and they are very rude. I would not move to any Lincoln Properties after living here.
