great place to live

all you ------- that say negative things about this place are going to pay. This place is awesome, the staff is helpful, and i have never stepped in one dog turd. Maintenance staff are very nice and helpful and damn sexy if i might say so myself. Very prompt. The ladies at the front have been more than helpful with fixing my pipe problems. I think i might never leave. Every day i am more impressed with the courtesy, love, and attention i get. sexsexsexsexsexsexsexsexsexsexsexsexsexsexsexsexsexsexsexse word to your moms, this place is the bomb I got more love for thornbury than the bible has psalms. peace im out.

    Great Place To Live

    I've lived at Thornbury going on 3 years. Maintenance has always been prompt, the staff may sometimes be considered aloof, however, they are all young people. (maybe their ages gives the impression of aloofness) Never, at anytime, have I ever not gotten results from them when I have a request. I always give them the benefit of the doubt knowing they will take care of me as a tenant. As I have said they are young people, but run the property superbly. As for the bogus charges on move out....there are ways to protect yourself. And each tenant is responsible for following these steps upon move out. Each one should properly clean the apartment and schedule a move out walk thru with the management. This alone will protect you from surprising charges later. Management and you will then know what to expect in terms of deposit refund or any extra charges. <br>Parking can sometimes be an issue, but you know why? Because Thornbury seldom has empty apartments! Occupancy rates here are high and an apartment does not stay empty long! That alone should tell people what a great place this is. I would highly recommend this place to all of my friends!

      Bang for the Buck!

      This is a great apartment community. The apartment construction looks good from outside and it is well-constructed and new from inside. Plenty of windows, so the apartment is well lit. The area is green and there are lot of trees. <br>The best thing about the apartments is the location. I lived in the apartment that faced the Chase Oaks golf course. The view is awesome. There is lot of place to walk or just sit in the patio in the evening. <br>No problem with the security. Maintenance is prompt. <br>Negatives: <br>Staff is not the best feature of this complex. They behave like they are doing favor by renting you the apartment. <br>Second, there is no laundry facility if you need one. And with this location, you have to go far to do laundry. <br>Third, the pool is ok, but the fitness center is almost useless. But that was not a consideration to me.

        Unpleasant Apartments!

        After choosing this complex because of the beautiful location and affordable price, my roommate and I both realized the mistake we made before too long. Originally, we were told our move-in date would be on a Friday. On Friday, they said that they had said Saturday. That was no big deal, but when we got into the apartment, we realized they forgot to put on the guest bathroom door! We immediately contacted management, and it took at least a MONTH for maintenance to get out and do their job. Also, parking is terrible! I had to park very far from my apartment because the spaces are not assigned, and as a young woman, it is a scary walk alone at night. Many other problems persisted, but eventually our lease ended and we were free... except for the $830 we owed them for "damaged carpet," which was not truly damaged at all.

          STAY AWAY

          We have lived in this complex since 2002. I thought the trees and golf course were very beautiful. The apartments have certain amenities inside. But the management is immature, unprofessional, indiscreet and full of nonsense. We have had mice, roaches, mold, unfixed items, money chaged to us to replace the entire carpet area of a 1/1 apt. when we moved out because of a stain in the living area. We were told by "management" that seams would show if they only replace the LR carpet. It´s gotten even worse. The turn over rate is unbelievable here. Don´t stop to even look. There are only dumb blondes (yes, I am a blonde) who manage this place and they are not equipped or have the knowledge to do what is required The manager went off on an <br>"emotional" tirade with my husband. She later apologized but who get to scream and rant at their customers? I´ve also had bogus charges added to my rent. <br> <br>STAY AWAY

            Please contact me detailing your experience with Thornbury at Chase Oaks. I am compiling a list of past residents who have had bogus charges on moveout. Apparently the scam is to charge people for replacing a carpet on move-out, claimiing the carpet cannot be cleaned. Threatening to ruin your credit, if you don´t atleast pay half.               Bogus Charges on Moveout

              I too have been the victim of what I believe to be bogus move out charges. We lived in this apartment for over 3-1/2 years. We paid our deposit plus an additional pet deposit of $500 ($250 of which was non-refundable). We are now being told that we owe almost $700 for replacement of carpet and other miscellaneous charges (no problem with water bill and other minor charges). After speaking with the apartment complex manager, I too was offered the "kindness" of paying only half owed (she informed me that if it goes to collection, that is all they will receive if it is ever paid so they are cutting out the middleman). She informed me that apartment carpets have a 7-8 year life expectancy! That is false. The carpet was not new when we moved in - who knows how long it had been there when we moved in. Also, there is no way that a carpetýs life expectancy in an apartment is 8 YEARS! I am mulling over my options at this point. I have a feeling I am going to have to pay the half with a VERY BITTER TASTE in my mouth! The complex itself is great. The management is not. When living there, do not ever expect a call back if you leave a message, they cannot be bothered to return your call. The dwellers are lazy and rude when it comes to picking up after their animals and putting their trash in the dumpsters. The apartment manager (according to our monthly newsletter) was named the property managements manager of the year in 2003. I hate to see who the other candidates were. Anyway, if you can deal with these issues and never EVER plan on getting one spot on your carpet, feel free to live here. It is a beautiful location.

                Has anyone else been given a bill when moving out with no explanation?

                I have. I too lived at this apartment from 2000-2003. I have gone through the exact same problems with the management, as described in many of these postings. As a matter of fact, I had the exact same experience as the person whose post was titled "Management stinks more than the dog poop in the apt complex".I was sent a bill about a month or two after moving out, stating that I owed them over $600, with no explanation. I went in twice to meet and resolve the issue with the manager. They also offered to "help me out", and I could pay half. They also threatened me with turning this over to a collection agency. If anyone else has had a similar incident please post to this site, I would like to speak with you about your experience. Event if you would like to post anonymously I would appreciate the info. If there are two of us, I am sure there is more. This sounds like a SCAM !

                  Awesome place to live

                  I recently moved in to thornbury about four months ago and have always had help whenever I had a problem. The management are friendly and will keep working until any problem is solved. I highly recommend thornbury to anyone and have refered one person already.

                    Dog crap everywhere

                    There is dog crap on every green part of the lawn. The residents have repeatedly told the main office about it but nothing EVER gets done. Not even a memo to the residents as a courteous reminder. There is a $25.00 fee for not picking it up in a plastic bag.....but why would the residents pick it up if the office staff´s dog crap remains undisposed of also. <br> <br>This is an OLD issue at this apartment complex and as the residents will tell you freely... to not expect any reinforcement from the Office Staff. They look at you like you are just a "(sigh) BIG inconvenience to them".

                      Don´t Go There!... Management Is Horrific

                      I lived at this property from Nov 1998 until Nov 2003. Three years ago there was a transition in management that has been nothing but a nightmare. Their services are horrific. Communicate everything little thing in writing or look out!!! They don´t keep good accounting records, so look out for gross financial errors and the no one seems to know what the other staff member is doing, nor do they keep adequate individual apartment records, so get ready to do their job. I would say very incompetent management. The apartments are large and priced right, but is it really worth the risk, sooner or later you will have to deal with the management staff????

                          Want mold, fear and headaches?

                          Don´t let the beautiful trees and golf course views pull you in. <br>OFFICE MANAGEMENT, MAINTENANCE AND GREYSTAR MANAGEMENT COMPANY are unprofessional and do not respond to major water leaks into the apartment, even after written requests. Because of water leaks not being properly repaired in a timely manner, a number of different kinds of mold grew in our walls, under our sink and in our ceiling. We were told by several neighbors, they had the same problem. The Management offered no help to any of us. <br>Several families we met had been there for years and moved out because of management. In about 6 months time, the property went from a family and professional, career oriented place with a friendly atmosphere to a trashy, partying, beer cans in the grass, old cars being worked on in the parking lot, afraid to come home after dark atmosphere. <br><br>If you have babies, young children or have any respiratory problems, DO NOT MOVE HERE. <br><br>

                            Nice place, rude management

                            I´ve been living at Thornbury for over a year. The square footage is good, trees are great, and I have no complaints about maitenence. The managment staff, though, needs to be retrained. The managing supervisor is never available and does not return calls. She is impatient and rude. The staff does a lot of finger pointing and you get different information with each person you talk to (and you´re the idiot when you go into talk with them). There is too much turn over. I would like to see the managment start treating the residents in a more professional manner. They may end up having longer lease terms if they treated the residents like welcome guests, rather than pests.

                              Management stinks more than the dog poop in the apt complex

                              Lived in the complex for just over a year. Beautiful property but the management really is horrible. The few times we complained about some maintenance issues, the management did not care or bother to fix things on time. They always told us there were "other important and critical" things the maintenance staff was working on. When we vacated the place they gave us a bill of more than $750 with no proper explanations. When I went in person (had to go there twice) to discuss this, the person I spoke to was extremely rude. Eventually they agreed that I pay half the amount and made it sound like they are doing me a huge favor (still don´t know why I had to pay anything, the only reason I paid was because the rude person I spoke to threatened that the management will report me to the collection agency to mess up my credit). Bit of advice for anyone vacating the complex (I strongly recommend everyone to vacate as soon as possible), get someone from the management to inspect the property and get it in writing that everything is okay (it is very important). Since they are loosing all the clients, they are trying to make money like this.

                                Dog Poop is a serious problem at this complex

                                I have never been to a complex that has such a dog feces problem as this one. It is everywhere. It is so sad that the staff does not enforce the "dog poop" rule. Periodically, I go around to the dog stations to see if the staff ´ever´ puts out bags and trash cans for the dog owners. They don´t. It is often the discussion at the mail box center... how many times we have stepped in it. <br> <br>Now that the weather is warming up, you can smell the dog feces as you walk towards your apartment. There is a fine for not picking your dog´s poop up, ... no one ... is ever fined and the staff just looks the other way. <br> <br>It is also a health hazard. <br> <br>I hope this conveys my frustration with this problem. It is really very unpleasant. <br> <br>I was somewhat relieved to know from the other posts here, that I am not the only one that thinks that this is a problem.

                                    The place totally sucks!

                                    I have lived here 2.5 years and really enjoyed it at the beginning, the landscaping is great and the golf course view is excellent. However this is the only thing the place has going for it!!! <br> <br>The girls at the office should all be fired, their non existing service is substandard and below the service level you may expect in the Third world. <br> <br>I have had about 10 maintenance request during my stay, most of the time they totally forget about you, and sometimes they may appologize but very seldom. Fixes are poor and things needs to be refixed all the time. They are not very friendly and they are covering up for each other, because almost all of them are not performing at all. <br>Generally a pain to deal with. <br> <br>Leaves in the pool all the time. Unclean hot tub, people getting sick after bathng etc. <br> <br>Parking is reallly hard to get if you get home late, usually you end up 5 buildings away from your own. The cleaning of the property is not as it used to be, I see trash, beer cans even garbage bags all over the place every day. The neighboor has thrown ashes and cigaret butts from the apartment above, very discusting and poor reaction from the manager. <br> <br>Most of all this is due to the extremely stupid and sub performing people at the office that do not care to tale care of the property. I have notified Greystar, the property owner a few times now, but am tired of having to fight for every single issue. <br> <br>I can´t believe that the owners are just sitting on their butts and do not replace the entire staff. It´s really a disaster now.

                                      Is it really that hard to educate management?

                                      After 1,5 years at Thornbury I thought it might be good to let other people know what I think. <br> <br>Overall rating, upper management is really uneducated, rude and totally incompetent when it comes to customer service and how to handle the day to day work. <br> <br>The first couple of months everyone was very friendly and tried to make you happy. That is until you have something to complain about. <br> <br>Mgmt sets up notes on your door with unspecified complaint about that you owe them 11 dollars here and 18 dollars there. But they do not tell you what it is all about. When you walk up to the office and talk to them, no one from mgmt is there, and they are ´the only one´ who can talk to you about unpaid ´whatever it is´. <br>If you are so lucky that you might speak to a manager, everything is correct according ´to the computer´, and we all know that the computer is always right IF THE PEOPLE WHO USES THE COMPUTER FILLS IN THE RIGHT AMOUNT. <br>They do not even apologize if they are wrong. <br> <br>For me it is VERY surprising that our mgmt was voted as Greystars top managers of the year. <br> <br>When it comes ot the areas around the apartment complex, there is dog pupe everywhere. I have a dog myself, and I am really waiting for the waist baskets that was supposed to be available for the dog owners... that was appr. 7 months ago they promised that. <br> <br>Old construction material is still laying around the complex. I don´t know how many times I have almost walked into them when walking the dog in the night. I guess they will not do anything until someone hurt themself and file a lawsuit. I don´t think this is something ´unknown´ to the staff at Thornbury. <br> <br>Lamps around walking paths have been broken for almost 8 months now. Even though I have put in two work orders to get it fixed. <br> <br>The view from the apartment complex is wonderful. The sad thing is that there is to much junk everywhere. Old broken cars on the parking lot. <br> <br>After the storm, a lot of broken trees was left weeks without attention. <br> <br>I think that Greystar should send out an evaluation to the community asking what we think. <br> <br>I feel it is sad that such a great complex should have that many negative comments because of rud, unfriendly, uneducated people. <br> <br>I still love my apartment, but I wonder if that in the end will be enough...

                                        Spell check?

                                        I was browsing through this web site.....severall people have told me about being able to check on properties in the area. I lived at Thornbury a few months ago before I was transferred out of state. I am back now and returning to Thornbury. I was happy here and I´m sure I will continue to be happy. What gets me is that people have the audacity to write rude remarks about others when their grammar and writing skills are so obviously poor. This is 2003...we have spell check ETC please see the tools section of your task bar. I wonder are you upset b/c you were asked to move for not maying your rent? It seems as though that may be the case.....

                                          Rude Apartment Management - Sex Offenders living @ Thornburry

                                          I have lived at Thornburry for 5 years and I have seen this apartment manangement go from Super Good to Super Bad. The present one is just full of rudeness. The manager is never available to speak to. There is this dumb supervisor who lies to you straight through your teeth and tells you that the manager is off property yet, the manager is always in the back office. The girls that work there are rude and have a no care attitude. I recently did a research on this property and it is interesting to see the crime rate. <br> <br>PLEASE CALL PLANO POLICE DEPT AND ASK ON THIS COMMUNITY. IT IS BAD. CRIMES RANGING FROM ROBERIES TO SEX OFFENDERS STAYING ON PROPERTY ARE SOME OF THE HORRIBLE THINGS TO MENTION. <br> <br>The parking lot is not well lit. The pool is always dirty with leaves from a decade ago. THERE IS AMPLE PARKING BECAUSE NO BODY LIVES THERE. The people that live there have become weirdos all of a sudden. Or is it that Thornburry is approving all kinds of low class people in the community. Summers is a nightmare, coz there is alot of noise especially with drunk people around the pool. <br> <br>Maintenance has improved eversince the new maintenance guy came on board. Dog poop is still everywhere especially around the pool. <br> <br>THE GATES NEVER WORK. JUST DRIVE BY AND YOU WILL SEE THAT THE GATES ARE OPEN. Now a days there are just a lot of pot holes everywhere. Luckily I had a 4x4 so I enjoyed driving it around the property. <br> <br>The management is super sweet when you go looking for an apartment, however, once you move in, the same folks are a nightmare to deal with. <br> <br>GOOD LUCK on your ambition to live here. You are signing a bad luck charm contract once you move in.

                                            Night mare on Elmstreet is consider a better dream than this

                                            welcome to your terrible scarry worse nightmare. <br> <br>If you are planning to move in this complex , i suggest you rather not to do so. <br> <br>The apartment is large but has unwanted geust, the Roaches families lives though out the years but don´t forget Mr termite, he is there too. The bugs never recieved a eviction notice by the complex managment. <br> <br>The security of the complex is not secure at all. In stead locks of the gates are been torn out and left open at all time. <br>This means unwanted guest comes in and go as they pleases. The unwanted guest is Mr drugdealer who like to visit the property as he sales his merchendise. <br> <br>The townhomes and regular family apartments have cooling problem. The airconditioning are totaly out of date and is been poorly maintaned through out the years. <br>This give you a large utility bill every month <br> <br>The air is also very poor. <br>There are molds and fungus growing inside the vents. If you have astma or breating problem this can make you more sicker than you need to be. <br> <br> <br>The maintance of the complex is rated very poor. To many maintance people are fired or leave due of the management problem. <br> <br>The managment are very poor by assisting tentants. They are not being considerd by fixing a problem or even solving it . <br> <br>the roofing is very poor when raining comes the roof leak right through . this is one of the poor maintance that a tentant has to go through daily when this happens. <br>

                                              Very Difficult Management Team to Deal WIth

                                              I am currently live at Thornburry for the past 6 months and I can´t wait till I get out of my least in about 2 more months. My friend told me about this website so I would like to take time to warn you about this bad community. The people are good, but the property is kept bad. The management staff sucks. <br> <br>NOW YOU TAKE A MOMEMT AND READ HOW MANY ENTRIES HAVE BEEN MADE HERE AND FOR HOW LONG. 15 ENTRIES IN 2 YEARS. THAT IS PRETTY BAD ITSELF. NOT ALL PEOPLE COULD BE LYING AND REFERENCEING CASES FROM PLANO POLICE IS A TRUE SIGN OF REALITY THAT PEOPLE ARE WRITING ON THIS WEBSITE. <br> <br>The staff is really good when you come looking for an apartment, but they go really bad once you start living here. <br> <br>I shall be honest, maintence has improved but the quality of workmanship is really bad. <br> <br>All the good comments have been placed by the managemnet team, thats why they are annoymous. All the true, but bad comments have been placed by residents and they are annoymous since residents are scared that they could be suid by the management company.                                                 I love Thonrbury at Chase Oaks

                                                I have been a resident here at Thornbury at Chase Oaks for 1 and 1/2 years. I have recently had some personal problems and had to down size my apartment. The office was very helpful in this transition and treated me like they cared for my well being. I have now moved into my new apartment and love it just as much as my larger one. The office staff has always been very helpful and kind. The property has also been very well maintained. The flowers are beautiful, trees are kept maintained, and parking lot was recently restripped. I am a satisfied resident.

                                                  My mother lived at this communtiy until just recently when we had to admit her in to a resting home. Not only was she welcomed into the office everyday to read her paper and drink coffee, they took her home on the golf cart and helped her with other things such as collecting her mail. I would reccomend this property to anyone who is looking. This property has great views and will go above and beyond to help.

                                                    Q: In one of the reviews, it is mentioned that you do not hold mail/packages for your tenants at the front office if it is too big to fit into the mailbox. Is this true?

                                                    A: As a resident i can say this is true. It gets delivered to your door. However they are making head way to have a mail center where they can hold mail. But that is a work in progress.
