I have to agree with the last review, I feel like I am living in the ------...The break ins are getting really bad. There has been like 7 now, I think..Too many cars too count, windows getting busted out, and all that the office staff can tell us is keep your windows and blinds shut, I'm sorry but when you pay almost $1500.00 a month I should not have to worry about my windows nor my blinds. For this amount we should have a walking security guard patrolling the area. Oh and yes no linen closetes, you have to shove your towles and wash clothes under the bathroom cabinet. The car wash has 2 hoses and the vacuum has not worked since I moved here, they recently fixed it...the computers are always messed up and the printers NEVER work... the fitness room, yeah right you can't hardly run on the treadmills because they are so worn out...Let's see only went to the pool twice this summer because it was always dirty...The staff are extra friendly but I'm sorry doesn't make up for the rip off. They say anything to get you in,trust me the minute our lease is up I am GONE!!!!!Think twice before you move here, you will never have parking unless you have a bike in your trunk to ride the rest of the way home..The apartment was dirty when I moved in, dog hair was painted to my base boards, there is mold and mildew growing around our tubs and sinks....WHEW, I am READY TO GO!!!!!!

BEWARE!
I recently moved into Adalay Bay and I absolutely hate it here! They do an incredible job getting you in the door telling you about all the amenities until you sign the lease and then your screwed! The car wash, what car wash?? its a brick building with two hoses hanging down from the ceiling, you have to bring your own soap and rags, oh and dont forget about the vacumm which you also have to pay for..........the Bark Park is nothing but a fenced in area with patches of missing grass.........and the Business center, the computers never work and there's not even a printer.........none of the apartments even have a freakin' linen closet, I dont get it..............and parking is a nightmare, if you dont get home by 5PM you are never going to find a parking space and if you do you're going to have to walk almost a block to your own apartment............oh and one more thing, there is only one trash dumpster for the entire complex, which overflows and is nasty. And not to mention the latest apartment and car break ins, this place is just like living in the ------ only with a higher price tag!

Best Ever
My wife and I have been living at Adalay Bay on and off for 6 years plus and without doubt or reservation we can say that Adalay Bay Management, accommadations and aneminities are top knotch. The mamagements people skills and genuinue concern for there renters are above the rest. The upkeep and maintaince crew can not be matched with a staff that is understanding, caring and prompt.... We recommend this property to anyone looking for a safe, enjoyable, and respectable community to live in...

Not so great
I stayed at Adalay Bay for 6 months and was on the third floor and I hated it. There was never any parking so I always had to park a good ways away from my place. I have one lab and whenever I would walk by someone else with a dog they would pull their dog away. People there were really stuck up and rude. They are always looking for something to complain about. I had a complaint once about how there was a cup left on my patio table overnight- and I lived on the third floor! I wouldn't go back even if I had to.

Great Location & Friendly
My Husband & I lived at Adalay Bay for a little over two years till he was stationed else where. The girls in the Office were great,I want to thank you all for putting up with my visits & chatter while my husband was deployed.Maintenace was very good about taking care of any problems we had,And those were minor repairs. Parking could be better,But I've found that to be the case with all Apts.Adalay is close to shopping and the hospital.Battlefield Blvd.Makes easy access to Interstate. And I know this does not matter to a lot of people but I love a white kitchen,It just brightens things up.And they are hard to find in most Apts.I got lucky & even our german home has white. Can't wait to get back to Norfolk & Chesapeake.

Okay but not for everyone
Adalay bay is a nice place to live, if you don't live there too long. for us, we over stayed and there just comes that magic time to buy and not rent. Staff is okay. They really don't want to "ruffle" feathers by enforcing rules like parking in non-designated spaces and keeping overly loud tenants quiet "after hours". Grounds are nice and kept up well, but people don't pick up after their dogs, even when you call them out on it. The dog stations are always full and smelly in the summer. Maintance are pleasant and helpful. Parking is a nightmare. People park wherever they want and often block cars in. They do not tow, nor do they ticket as indicated in the lease agreement. There is supposed to be someone daily checking on this, but they do not. Only when you complain to the front office and then, you pretty much get an attitude. Noise is tolerable. There is noise from upstairs, and the side apts - but that is pretty much the life of an apt dweller. they focus way too much time and $$ on parties. big get togethers that always have a gift for one lucky resident of either money off of rent or one month's free rent - i conclude that is why the rent is so high there - we have to pay for someone to get free rent - at least 4 times a year with the big parties....Rent averages $1300. So, be aware that your rent monies are going to this. They do offer little ammenities when you renew your lease - often times it is something reasonable like new blinds or carpet cleaned or items such as this. For us as i said, we lived there 5 years...it was time to move on.

We love it!
I've been living in this complex for a year and a half. I absolutely love it! My husband and I feel at home here, and we'll be really sad when we need to move. What's so great about Adalay Bay? The office staff: amazing! They are on top of everything, very friendly and always ready to help you with whatever you need. The manager and the two other leasing agents are always very professional, while trying to build a real relationship with each of their residents. My little girl can't spend a day without wanting to drop by and say 'hi' (and get a piece of candy from the candy box...). The maintenance: very good, quick to help, really friendly. They even helped me baby proof my apartment when my toddler started to get into cabinets. The apartments: spacious, nice floor plan, clean, modern, with large closets, very big balconies, and an open kitchen with lots of cabinets. Overall, very good quality. There is a laundry room, but you need to buy or rent your own washer and dryer. We have had some problems with noise a couple of times, but it was quickly addressed by the staff. Parking can be an issue in the evening if you want to park right in front of your appartment. The rent is pricey, but well worth the money. Grounds and activities: it's cute, clean, safe, the pool and the playground are great. The staff organizes lots of activities and parties throughout the year (Halloween costume party, Christmas party with Santa Claus bringing presents for the kids, cook-offs, karaoke nights, Easter Egg Hunt, Summer Pool Party, etc). These activities along with the weekly Belgian Waffle Breakfast (free) at the Clubhouse have allowed us to get to know most of the residents. The staff even helped several moms start a weekly toddler playgroup. The location: I don't have access to a car during the day, and I can walk to two banks, several pharmacies, two grocery stores, all the doctors and specialists we need, a few restaurants, and two playgrounds. By car, you are within a few minute drive to two libraries, plenty of stores, a mall, a bunch of different parks and playgrounds, and a lake. Half an hour from the beach, 15 minutes from the center of Norfolk.

Excellent place to live
I lived at Adalay Bay from November 2004 through May 2007. The property was very well managed and safe. The office staff was outstanding and the maintenance staff was professional and helpful. When I moved to Florida in May 2007, I moved to another Archon managed property as a result of the wonderful experience I had at Adalay Bay. I would recommend this property for anyone who is looking for a safe, clean apartment home.

OMG- "There's No Place Like Home"
Moving into Adalay Bay- WOW!!!!I must say the experience has been one of the most effortless, pleasurable and professional encounters I have had; while I have toured many other apt. developments in the area, none have come close to the level of excellence I have received at Adalay Bay. I also would like to add the ladies in the office are not only congenial, friendly they are enjoyable to work and speak with. I never imagine such caring dedication or attention to detail of a new tenant needs; so I'm sure as for my future here it seems it will be alasting relationship. They have elevated customer service to an level that Be worthy of Distinction. I had to post because others that are looking for a place to call home..ITS a MUST..To look at Adalay Bay you will not be disappointed. Many of their competitors should take notice and step up their game!!!!!!!!

Quality Apartment Living
I moved into Adalay Bay 17 1/2 months ago and found that the complex was everything that was advertised. The staff made my move very easy and they were more than accommodating during my quest for a place to call home. They gatherings they coordinated for the community were delightful and well attended by the residents. I just feel that they did everything they could think of to get the neighbors together in a social setting to meet and enjoy each other. I would definitely recommend Adalay Bay to anyone who is looking for a more affluent lifestyle in apartment living. The layout of my unit made it a pleasant open space in which to entertain. I loved it there and will entertain returning if ever the need arises.

This place is well worth the money!
My husband, children and I moved in three months ago and have loved every minute we have spent here! The staff is fantastic, they all care so much about the tenants... they always seem to know who everyone is! The service from office staff and maintenance is the best I have ever experienced! They have wonderful parties, every month since we have lived here they have had a party. The maintenance guys work so hard and always help everyone out with anything. They even helped me move a large piece of furniture in! The inside of the apartments is beautiful, so clean and nice when we arrived! Yes, the rent is a little high for an apartment but we got a really good move in special which helped to lower it. Parking is a bit of a hassel at times but I have come to expect that living in apartments. We love our neighbors and the community, we would highly reccommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to live!

Its a gorgeous complex but not worth the trouble
Ok, let me start by saying that the staff is amazing. They're all really nice and very concerned about their residents. The apartments are nice, but the carpet sucks. It turns grey in less than a month (it s supposed to be beige/white) and shows every little stain even after being cleaned. The vinyl turns yellow from floor mats or anything with rubber on the bottom. I think the layout is a little strange since they have a computer nook in the kitchen of the two bedroom apartment, but it's very cozy to live here. Maintenance is fairly nice. I think they need more maintenance since they only have two people working for them and have over 300 residents. It's definitely a wait to get things fixed unless it s high priority (standing water, flooding, broken toilet, broken locks on front door, ect.). The grounds are gorgeous, but there is only one dumpster and it s at the very back of the complex. Most of the time I don t even want to drive over there because then my car will smell like garbage for a few days or I ll have to fight for parking when I come back. It's just too much of a hassle than it really should be. I also don't like the pet stations. there are only two, and they are always over flowing with bags of poop, and one of them has standing water in front of the bin at all times. This isn t safe for our pets since there have been a few cases of hookworm being contracted from that pet station. Not to mention your pets can get giardia from that same puddle of stagnant water. Residents don t pick up after their pet very often, and you are constantly dodging little doggy landmines every where you go. Parking is a nightmare! There is no assigned parking, but we do have parking permits. I was told that they are very strict about the permits Boy was I lied to. On average I have 3-5 cars parked in front of my building without permits, and they are never towed, not even when I call to complain about them. It s almost impossible to find parking (not matter what day of the week) after 4pm. The staff has admitted that there aren t enough parking spaces for everyone, and yet they still give everyone a parking pass for each car in family and don t enforce their own policy of one care per apartment in resident parking . The only nice thing, is there are lots of guest spaces, I just wish residents and management would enforce the rules and ask guests to park in the marked spaces. The prices here are ridiculous. A one bedroom apartment is over a grand a month, but on top of that we pay for all our own utilities, pet rent (25-30 bucks a month), a 150 security deposit, and a 400 non-refundable pet deposit. They will also charge you extra for damaged carpet that has to be replaced after you move out. What s the point of having a deposit if they are going to charge you extra? The gym is small and by no means a full gym like they claim it to be. The business center is annoying because you can t open files in email to print them out, and most of the time the computer isn t hooked up properly to the fax/printer. The laundry room is the worst part. Most of the dryers don t work, they all run, but most of them won t dry anything. You also have to get special tokens from the office to use them, and most of the time when people need tokens, the office is closed (they open late on weekends and close early also). Lastly, security doesn t exist. They claim to have a courtesy officer, but when you call in complaints, she never answers the calls. There have been fights (full on fist fighting) at night, and the complaints go unanswered. She s also in charge of the parking situation, and she never tags cars for removal. I ve never even seen her and I ve lived here almost a year! It s a nice complex, but just not worth all the grief. I wouldn t recommend renting here, I d say just buy a house. You d be paying the same amount, and would have to deal with a lot less that you put up with here.

Well Worth The Money
My girlfriend and I got a job here in Virginia late August ('06). We are both elementary teachers and from NY. We saw a picture of Adalay Bay in an apartment book and decided to look into it. Right off the bat the staff was extremely friendly and willing to help us any way they could (seeing as we just got our jobs and had to move from NY to VA in less that two weeks). We filled out the forms in NY and faxed them here. They called us and let us know that we could move in on a Tuesday. My girlfriend explained to the staff that we had to be at work on Monday and if it was possible could we move in on Sunday. The staff had absolutely no problem with this and said it would be done. We got to VA on Saturday night and arrived at Adalay Bay at 9:30 and everything was ready to go. This past year we lived here we had absolutely no problems. I had one maintenance call and they came that night and fixed my problem. I called them one other time and told them I had a funny smell from my water heater and they immediately came and inspected it. My girlfriend and I decided to look for another place to live to try and save money when our lease was up this August. This turned out to be the biggest headache ever. We had a nightmare experience with another company. If you want to know about that experience PLEASE read my review under Woodbriar Apartments with the subject being "Spend Your Money Some Place Else!!!" dated 8/14/07. we came back to Adalay Bay to ask them for advice on where to live and they were more than helpful. They told us about great places to live. In the end we decided it was worth the money to live where you feel cared about, the peope listen to your concerns, and the management wants the best for you. In the end we decided Adalay Bay is that place. In our mind, Adalay Bay's staff and management went above and beyond what they had to. They did all they could to make sure we were happy even if that meant it wasn't with their company. Not only is the management top notch, so is the maintenance, grounds, pool, work out facility, and the quality of the place. Yes the parking isn't the best but all of the other aspects of this company and community out weight the fact that you might have to walk a few extra feet if you arrive home late at night. ONE OF THE BEST PLACES I HAVE EVER LIVED. IF YOU THINK IT'S NOT FOR YOU, ATLEAST GO AND TALK TO THE STAFF TO GET MORE INFORMATION.

I loved Adalay Bay
I lived at Adalay for a year and a half. I moved to a larger apartment in the same building when I got married. The staff was fine with it and handled all of my matters very professionally. The apartment and apartment grounds were beautiful. All of my questions and concerns were handled very quickly. The girls in the office are SUPER NICE. The only reason I moved is because I wanted to own property. If I could have bought the apartment I would have. My dog was even the unofficial "resident dog"!

Too pricey for an apartment
First off let me say this is a nice complex and the staff is very friendly. However for the money you should buy a condo. They are too overpriced and parking is horrible!! If you get home after 4:30pm of if you plan to go out for dinner, you should plan on not having a place to park when you get back. My rent took a huge spike and I'm not sure for what. Keeping the grounds nice and repaving the parking lot are both nice but I don't know why the rent is so costly. No wonder there are three vacant apartments in my building. My suggestion is this... save your money and own. The *rent* here is too much. You'll NEVER get a tax break yet your basically paying a mortgage for an APARTMENT!!!!!!

Love it!!!
The staff is incredible, always very friendly and extremely accomodating. We are a military family and I feel completely safe here while my husband is away. The staff and other residents make me feel so at home! I love it! <br>I haven't had a maintenance request, but the guys are so friendly and even give my dogs treats when they see us out on walks!<br>The location is perfect, we are close to everything (food, shopping, highways) but there aren't noise or traffic problems. (And Navy Federal is within walking distance). <br>Parking isn't perfect, but it really isn't that bad. Walking a little extra to go home to a great apartment doesn't really bother me on the nights I do have to park further away, especially because of how well-lit it is.<br>The landscaping is beautiful and the pool is pristine, even in the winter!<br>I encourage all of our friends moving to the area to consider Adalay Bay. I love it here!

Not bad!
Price a little high, unless you will use the pool, fitness center, and commuinty room. I have lived here almost a year and haven't really had any problems. Parking not so good, to many cars not enought spaces, but not to bad. Pool and ground very nice at all times. There is a main road that runs right by but noise isn't really bad, the apartments sounds it out pretty well. In a good location with shopping and food all around. Very friendly staff always asking and calling or emailing you to just to make sure everything is fine. Apartments are very nicely laid out and open. I would say if you will use all the things offered then this is a good place to live with a not so bad price.

Too Expensive
I have lived here almost a year. The rent is way too expensive for the size of the apartments. <br>PARKING IS HORRIBLE! If you do not get home from work before 4:30 pm you will not be able to park near your building. Management refuses to assign parking and asks everyone nicely to please only park one car from each family in front of the building. I know of at least one family in my building that parks 2 cars in front of the building everyday. There are also many cars that only seem to move every few days. <br>There is only one place for trash, it is at the very back of the complex and usually full. <br>The staff is very nice, very friendly.

Absolutely Awesome
I love Adalay Bay. The staff is friendly, the residents are friendly & the complex is beautiful. When my husband & I moved in back in December of 2005 the staff made us feel right at home. The complex is kept in beautiful shape w/ the landscaping, the pool, the clubhouse, & even the dumpster(lol). Parking isn't a total nightmare & it's really not that hard to find a parking spot. The apartment itself is beautiful no matter what building you're in. The complex is located right in the best spot. You're close to the mall & I was even w/ in walking distance to my bank. It's very quiet & peaceful as well. All around I would say that this was the best place that I've lived at because of the wonderful people who work there. They really do care about you & do make you feel like you're right at home! <br><br>Thanks a bunch!<br><br>Colton

Very Nice
I love staying at Adalay Bay. Everyone is so friendly (staff and residents). At my old apartment complex, everyone was so stuck up and rude. Even though, everyone stays to themselves they don' mind speaking to you. The rent is a little pricy but I look at it like this, it is preparing us to own a home some day. Adalay Bay has truly been a blessing to me. I would recommend this community to anyone.

A Military Outstanding
Adalay bay is for babies, toddlers, teens, young adults and old. I say this because of the beyond friendly staff in which I have never met a friendlier group of people in my life. Parties and get togethers are a huge plus because it gives a chance for all the residents of all races to mingle and get to know each other. I have been here two years and have never complained once and if anyone has anything bad to say its because there crazy in my mind. Maintenance is on point for any minor or major problems. I have been fortunate and never had any problems. I talk to my neighbors all the time and there is always a high moral. My moral at work is poor but when I come home it is truly home because I consider the staff and maintenance part of family. Apartment structure is beautiful and the pool is beyond outstanding because it is always evenly occupied and properly treated. If I could stay here forever I would but due to my roomate leaving I am forced to downgrade but I will definitely visit on a regular basis and keep the enjoyment and the memories. Thank you Adalay Bay.
