I have been living here since Feb of 2009 myself only. Before Stuartwoods I lived in Waterside apartment and before that i lived in saint Johns wood in Reston. I must say that i love Stuartwoods and as long as I am working in Northern VA, I shall not move out. When i was looking for an apartment in 2009, all i wanted was an apartment where i will not hear my neighbours, but i must say i enjoy living here not only because of their construction, but also because the staff is very helpful-i must say. My Aircondition was not functioning completely and as soon as i called the office, they send someone over to my apartment and solve the issue right away. Whenever any of my office mates or friends move in i get $300 or $500 discount on my rent. Waterside or saint Johns wood never gave me any thing. I brought so many people with me to their apartments. I am looking forward to moving to a two bedroom apartment as soon as my wife and son join me here only.

Stuart Woods like any other apartment community has pros and cons but being a resident here for over a few years now, i can say it has more pros than cons. I enjoy my apartment and the quaint location very much. The maintenance team is quick and proffessional. Off couree things break down now and than but the management team and maintenance team is quick to response. The management office has always been very helpful. So far I am happy here and looking forward to renewing me lease this year as well. Thank you.

I have lived at this community for 2 years and am very suprised by some of the reviews. It seems that they are written by past residents who are upset because they did not properly clean their units and have been charged. I find it a shame that a wonderful community had such misleading reviews. My current lease is coming up and I have looked at other communities in the area and can tell you that Stuart Woods is by far the best when it comes to location and onsite amenities. My apartment has an amazing walk-in closet, large balcony, and full size washer/dryer. I have enjoyed the tennis court, clubhouse rental for parties, stream and walking trail, pool, and my dogs love the dog park. This is the only community that I have found that accepts dogs up to 100 pounds and will accept my Husky/German Shepherd. I have only had a few maintenance issues and they have responded either same day or the next day. The maintenance people are wonderful. The office staff is friendly and I have never had to wait to speak with someone. The community also has nice gatherings. I have attended the outdoor movie night, brunch, Halloween party, and one Valentines day they had a box of chocolates on everyone's door. All of my neighbors are very friendly and the community is peaceful. I will be signing my lease for another year.

You can see the last two/three "YES" reviews in very short-time. You will make out two are written by the same person. LOL.... :) If you see the all "Yes" review, All are same pattern and all came after ratings went down. As you see with in a day you can see 3 "Yes" to keep the ratings. Hahhaha . If my guess is correct you can see few more "Yes" is short-time, with different pattern. :) come on leasing guys, try your best to keep the ratings. But at-least maintain half of the things which you mentioned in the reviews. so people trust you and write a better and genuine "Yes" reviews.

I can't believe people....just cause someone said something good about it then they are a manager... I'm pretty happy here, yeah my rent went up a little bit but my dog and I love it here. Outback and carpool are right on the other side of my apartment. I went to the National night out thing that they did and It was a lot of fun, they had a dunk tank and one of the police officers sat on it and went in the water!!! lol. Is nice here, if you are looking for a place you will like it here very much.

Don't ever lease at this place. They keep on increasing rent every renewal. They charge unnecessarily when u leave the apartments. For me they gave me very thin and low quality carpet when I moved in. I kept asking them to replace it on every renewal but they said it is not old enough and they charged me sizable amount for stains on the same carpet when I moved out. That carpet is not livable even if there are no stains. Another problem, a guy would bring his dog to poop near the tennis court area lot of times and not pick it up. We complaint multiple times, gave photos, told guy's building number, nothing happened. It was like we wont do anything, you bring all the proofs and still nothing happened. About their staff, this is one of the worst staff I have seen. They are rude, there is a lady in their office, she wont even smile or say hello to you and even the way she looks at you, you feel she is not respecting you.

Don't ever get into these Apartments. The Staff are non-cooperative and very rude except the Lady Judy. They make false promises and at the time of leaving the apartment they will charge you with unnecessary bills. They will increase the rest abruptly and they wont give any benefits to the residents who are already living there but to those who are new comers. The staff is very rude especially the lady who sits at the left as soon as you enter the leasing office. She acts as if she owns the whole place and you are her servants. They say they have amenities but the water is not clean in the swimming pool. The fitness center equipment sometime work and sometimes they don't. The printer in the computer room never worked. If you ask them, they don't even care. Since they increased the rent, everybody started vacating the apartments and they brought the rents down. But BEWARE of these cheaters. Its like a trap and once you enter, you either have to bear all the annoying things or pay a hefty fine at the time of leaving. I would not recommend this apartment to anyone.

Stay away from Stuart Woods! I had recently started a job and was looking for a place to live. I told a coworker I was looking at Stuart Woods and she warned me to stay away. She said the place was a nightmare and that she recently moved out. I didnt take her advice and I regret it. Stuart Woods was a complete disaster. There were constant maintenance problems. Problems which the maintenance/management refused to look at, or took forever to fix. Here are just a few of the examples of the problems. The water heater worked poorly. Even during a short shower the water would turn cold. I complained, but all they said was that it was a small water heater and refused to even look. Well, as it turned out, the heating element was completely rusted out. It eventually burst and flooded my apartment and all the apartments below. All they had to do was inspect the heater and this could have been avoided. Instead, they chose to ignore it and have 3 apartments become uninhabitable for over a week. They refused to replace to carpets and padding. They opted to run large fans and dehumidifiers for 2 weeks. This meant people couldnt stay in the apartments. Another example was during a heavy rainstorm. The ceiling was leaking water into the apartment. I called maintenance and they said they would have to fix it after the rain stopped. A week after the rain stopped, the ceilings in two rooms were buckled and warped and there was no sign of maintenance. I had to go to the office and complain. Maintenance finally came out and said they would have to cut out the ceiling and put up new drywall. A week later and not a soul came by. At this time the ceiling had molded and mildewed. Basically a 20 foot diameter circle, going into 3 rooms was yellow, green, blue, and grey. I had to yell at them again to do something. A week goes by and they finally cut the moldy drywall out. However, no one ever came back to put up a new ceiling. I had 3 rooms with no ceiling. It took another trip to the office and yelling to get it fixed and painted. The list of problems goes on and on. Another example of Stuart Woods idiocy is that they let someone into my apartment without my consent. An ex-girlfriend of mine told them she lived there and forgot her key. She didnt live there, nor was she ever on the lease. Yet they let her into my apartment without even calling me. When I confronted them about it, they refused to do anything other than say "sorry." Then they had the gall to accuse me of dumping trash outside my apartment, which I did not do. They said I was a bad tenant and wasnt going to renew my lease. I told them basically that I didnt want to renew my lease in that hellhole anyway.

Nice for the Price at the Time
I rented this place because they had the nice ceramic tile floors throughout the apartment & a large MAster Bedroom which was also very important. I got the 2 months free deal for 2 yrs. After that they wanted to raise my rent to @ $1,600. At that point is was no longer worth it to me. The place is kind of old, I think 60's or 70's. They would shut down our water at times because of problems but at least they let us know the date and times. Any time I had a problem it was fixed in a 24 hour period except one time when the A/C went out over the weekend. I didn't have AC for 3 days while they ordered a replacement part. But, I did receive a rental credit. When I left they were changing the Parking policy. I had a reserved spot & 3 guests passes. So, parking wasn't an issue unless I was going to have more than a few people over. I lived on the 3rd & highest floor so noise was minimal. However, if I ever worked from home I think some lady that lived below me was runnig a daycare out of her apartment which got pretty noisy at times. However, at night is was always quite. Some man killed his wife & chopped up her body & put it in a suitcase & left it on the balcony in the building across from mine. I was in building 717. But, otherwise I thought the neighborhood was safe.

Run away
Before I moved in I was impressed by the location, the woods and the stream, the first year was OK, no complaints, second year the rent went up significantly. I still renewed as I didn't want to move so soon. This when I started observing the not so pleasant aspects of Stuart Woods. The office staff is arrogant and snooty. Folks smoke weed in the gym and business center. Gym equipment is in very poor condition. The walls of the apartment are so thin, you can hear the neighbors every single minute of the day. Major problem with Stuart woods they think they are on par with Luxury apartments like Avalon or some other in the area. The side walks are littered with dog poop. Police driving through the community every single day. Bunch of crack heads standing near the stream or the gym to get in and do their thing. I doubt how these guys are coming up with utilities charges, it is always high, you used Heat/AC or not. However there are some good thing about Stuart woods as well, the stream is nice, with fish swimming around and ducks quacking, the woods are very serene, occasional sighting of deer. Wait a minute all that is owned/maintained by city/state. You can still choose to move in if you have lots of money, OK with noisy neighbors, screaming kids, let them rip you off in the name of rent. Enjoy your stay.

Area has gone downhill - Poor office staff
This apartment complex was quite nice 5 years ago. Many changes in management and a front office which is driven more by bringing new residents in than keeping it's current residents happy results in a complex that alienates it's tenants. In addition, each summer, a new crop of oursourced lifeguards from overseas reside in a spare unit which they use to party and create a 'frat house' type atmosphere. There is no control or recourse for their disregard of the permanent residents. Instead, we all have to tolerate it. The office claims it's 'not their problem'. Parking is overcrowded due to the fact that there are no designated visitor spots. Last, but not least, the police have been a constant visitor to the complex as of late and the area no longer feels as welcoming and safe as it once did. I would hesitate to rent here for the amount of money and decaying buildings.

Used to be good, not any more
i moved to this place 3 years back. Its worth of between 1000 and 1200. If you are paying more then i do not recommend you this apartment. Since last 1 1\2 years, they become money minded. There is no rule , which applies to management. 99.99999999 % of the policies are favorable to management.(Which can change on the fly on person to person). Even for the same person the policies changes time to time (some times with in 24 hrs). They do not care how you feel(they just want make money). Now a days cops coming regularly, do not know the reason. When asked the leasing executives, there is no response. Even you are staying alone at home, you always feel at least 5 people around you, you can hear what your neighbors doing. why they are fighting every night with Cristal clear voice.

I picked the apartment because of the area. But they are here only to fool you. The day i moved in there was a leakage in storage area and was a sewage leak. maintainence people kept coming in n going out they fooled me first by saying it is previous owner's pet leak. then they said it is sewage and after coming and painting in they are saying its air freshner. But the smell is still there. they just know how to take money are making us live in unhygienic comditions. I want to complaint about this can someone help?

Very nice location
I lived here for 2 years, and I can say these were the most memorable years. I moved from a single bedroom to a 2 bedroom inside Stuart woods after my first year lease. The staff especially Judy were so helpful. I had an apartment with a view of sugarland trail. During rain it was a sight to behold. Had many nice walks with my wife there. When my wife first say the place she said it reminded her of a holiday resort. If you like nature, cycling this is the place to be. It also helps that the fitness center is open 24/7. Safety is also not an issue as all the nights I used to see a patrol car parked inside the complex, beside I felt Herndon was safe with the number of patrol cars around on the road.

Rent too High
I would continue to live here but they are raising my rent $300 if I renew my lease. Even with the incentive they offer I would still be paying too much for an apartment that is average at best. There are many other communities that charge at or below what they want for these low quality units that offer more bang for your buck.

Used to be Great
I have been renting a two bedroom, one bath apartment in Stuart Woods II. The first two years were great until they the leasing company decided to make Stuart Woods income based. My particular unit has poor parking as many of the other tenants use their guest parking passes for as many as 3 additional vehicles. This makes finding a parking spot near your building very tough especially when tenants have true guests staying with them which is perfectly fine. Did I mention they like to play musical parking spots? One week they'll designate parking spots in fron of the buiding for handicap parking and then move them the next week adjacent to the building or further away from the building. I thought the whole purpose of handicap parking was to be as close to the building door as possible. The units themselves have very outdated and cheap appliances and decor. The faucets constantly leak and even when maintenance supposedly fixes them, they still leak. Finally, since September I have had squirrels make a home in the attic of my unit. I am on the third floor. I have called maintenance many times as they are very annotying not to mention unsanitary. I can hear screaching and scratching 24/7. Management has not taken care of the problem at all. Sorry my friends but for the amount of money they charge you for these units you can find a much nicer place with better amenities.

Highly Recommended
I have been living in Stuart Woods 1 in a 2 bedroom apartment for nearly a year and I think it's great. It's a really great price with the special I got ($1275/month) for almost 900 square feet. I'm on the third floor and the balcony overlooks the woods. It's extremely quiet with thick walls. I don't think I have ever heard a neighbor while inside the apartment. Management is extremely nice and very quick to fix problems. We had some issues because the apartments are older, but they came within 24 hours to fix any problems. I would say for the price and location, you just can't beat this place! Plus, there is plenty of open parking and it is extremely safe. I have never felt uncomfortable or worried living here. My only complaint is that the kitchen in my apartment is extremely small and the washer and dryer are in the kitchen. This is difficult since I like to cook at home a lot. But, otherwise, it's great.

worst experience ever
I lost one of my guest parking stickers and they charged me $100, so hold on to your parking sticker if you are current residents, or never consider this place if you are still looking for an apartment. You can find much nicer apartments with the similar amount of rent. My current apartment is only $ 50 more and it is quite new (built 2008). My rent includes the garage and basic TV channel.

Good Apartment for Living
Stuart Woods is a good apartment for living. Everything food, grocery, supermarket, shops are near by. The Management is very friendly. They help you in all needs. The maintenance is very prompt. I love the environment. My only concern is my rent. Earlier I have paid less for large apartment, but here I am paying more. But everything based on the locality and market rent. There is huge difference in rent between Reston and Herndon. Another one this, regarding the parking. We have pay extra for herndon decal in addition to the property tax. This is new to me.

The Place has lived up beyond my expectations
Its the small things that eventually add up convert a HOUSE to a HOME, and thats what makes living at Stuart Woods an amazing experience. Their services are quick and speedy at the same time very considerate in all their dealings with the resident. At the time I moved in during the summers, they had a great promotional deal going on and the rent was very much justified considering the apartment location and facilities. At the end of the day we all want to be living in a place that our mind and pocket both agree on.

Great Staff
The staff at Stuart Woods is always extremely helpful and accommodating. The staff members who work in the front office go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable in your apartment and the maintenance staff responds to your requests immediately. I always feel confident that I will receive superior service whenever I need assistance from a staff member.

Good place
They have really good specials and offers. I've been living here now for a year, and I love it! They have great ammenities, great pool, great, friendly and responsible staff. They offer quick response to any complaint, and if you don't like your appartment, they try to settle other (with fees and procedures obiously). The only problem that I will have to say about the appartments is the bug problem in spring and summer. If you have this problem you can collect one or more bugs and present them to the leasing office and the next week you will be having a pest control crew in your house. In general the location is good and is a friendly enviroment...no noisy neigbors for now! I will have to say that is a good place to live. I almost forgot in the snow storms that we had last winter, they took care of cleaning the parkings!! You had to get your own snow from you car, but they clean the entrances and parkings.
