Look Elswhere!
My stay at Stuart Woods was one I will never forget! We were in a two bedroom bottom floor apt and the noise was worse than I have ever experience. The staff was nice but never responded to problems. They entered our apt several times without notifying us first. The pool is not on sight. We always ran out of hot water. I did not feel safe in the parking lot at night.
And don´t be fooled by there recent "face lift", it is just that. they have not changed one thing inside any of the apts!
When we gave our notice to move out (at the time that our lease was up) the took 3 weeks to respond to us and I can not even begine to tell you how much of a hassel that was. we ended up having to stay an extra month and pay $250. extra because they did not respond promptly!
And the apt was way to small!
I would never recomend Stuart Woods.

Bad Experience
Even thought the rent is cheaper, and close to the towncenter and other shopping complexes. I wouldn´t recommend this if you like to stay a pieceful life. Too Noisy due to construction, Pests all over and I has a very bad experience overall with the Ceiling leak when ther was rain.

Too damn expensive
The parking lot is dark at night. Place is safe tho´, at least Stuart Woods I is. Kids can play outside. No problem. Stuart woods II has had some burglaries I´ve heard.

Rent keeps increasing every year without reason. Other places are offering better deals. Stuart woods does not offer anything to those who want to extend leases. So you lose if you stay longer with them. Newcomers do get dome deals.

Too many foreigners around. They not a problem usually, but tend to get noisy at times.

No wonder they are an award winning community!
Well I must say when I came across this site I was very surprised to see a bad review. My stay with Stuart Woods has been nothing but enjoyable, the staff is so nice and take the time to explain everything. Matter of fact sometimes I just sit there and talk to them. Maitenance is always right on top of things, and they are always doing some sort of renovation to improve the place. In reference to rent, the apt.´s here are large and affordable (especially compared to others in area) Plus they have all the amenities you could need. Always clean etc etc... so after seeing this I had to take a minute to express my extreme happiness here.

The staff was great!!
I was relocating from Fredericksburg and needed to be closer to DC. I talked to several complexs on the phone before speaking to Nancy at Stuart Woods. It was not the best price I had come across but Nancy was very friendly and took the time to explain everything to me.

I scheduled an appointment and filled out an application the same day. The property was very scenic and had a wonderful stream running through it.

I moved into a first floor (which I normally don´t due to noise) After 9 months I am shocked that I have never heard the people above me yet. I also love the cheap electric bills I get every month.

Great place with friendly people.
Stuart Woods -- You can do a lot better
Stuart Woods, a step down in living for anybody with a decent job. The rental rates are unreasonably high, considering that the complex was built in the mid/late 1970s and has not been updated in any way. After the dot-com bust, this place was the ONLY property in Herndon that actually increased rates ($75/mo/unit).

The parking lot is not particularly well lit, and even though I was on the third floor, there was no shortage of bugs.

Initial deposits and fees are also unreasonably high, and you should expect to get screwed upon leaving. Staff tended to be friendly, but completely unhelpful. Billing practices seem to be unreliable.

If you are thinking about Stuart Woods, but have other options...move on.

Overpriced
After a year of living at Stuart Woods (we live in the lower complex off of Herndon Parkway), I can say without a doubt that it is overpriced. Unfortunately, the Herndon area is relatively new and rapidly developing so there are not many decent apartments available at reasonable prices. Our apartment is a very large one bedroom, but the size is the best thing about it.
It is aging inside and out, there is no covered parking, and don´t get me started on the roach problems.

Too expensive for what you get
When I signed up on the wait list, the price for a 1-BR was $875. Three months later when one finally became available, I was told rent had increased to $925 and I would not be offered the lower rent.

Since then, in less than 12 months, the rent has increased to $1040 for the same apartment.

This complex has a large immigrant population, and it seems as if the management comany may want to displace them in favor of higher-paid, US citizens.
