Overall the apartment community is fine. Maintenance staff is great! The unit we rented was nothing like the model we saw. The appliances were from the 70's. I have manage to get a new stove and refrigerator due to rust. The cabinets..well let's just say old. Presently there is an issue with the subflooring that was there prior to our move in and now they want us to vacate for several days in order to fix it...supposedly it is now a liability (really after three years)...but the concession they are offering is a joke. Not my fault..so I am a bit upset that they would expect me to pay for my moving expenses.....What you you do?

It was an interesting experience at Chase Gayton but I had to move out because the rent for month was not reasonable for a one bedroom. I had a few problems including an encounter with a black snake. The animal protection person said that the snake was attracted to the mulch that had been laid down. I also had to move because the parking lot had become very dangerous to back up and drive around.

The location in West End is good -- and that's the extent of the positives. The apartments are old and have been very poorly maintained. It takes multiple calls and complaints to get something fixed. I have not enjoyed living here, and would not recommend it to anyone.

The office and maintenance staff were the friendliest I met at any community while I was searching for an apartment. The apartment is huge and in decent condition--and the community seems like a nice, quiet place to live. The location is a good one and I'm glad to be here.

This is a nice place to live if you have money. They have raised my rent by $100. each and every year. The landscape needs some real professional attention. I'm having to move because I can't afford it, even the smaller ones. I've never moved into an apartment that was truly clean.

The office staff is very eager and helpful. The apartment needs some maintenance but is generally nice and meets our current needs. Neighbors are very friendly! The fitness center is small but not crowded. The pool is child-friendly and doesn't allow private parties, which makes it more accessible to all residents.

It has been a great experience, i have lived in this community since 2011. Moved into this community due as a room mate and decided to stay back renting my own apartment. It is very close to the I64 and good school zone. Every thing you need is in walking distance which great for summer time.

I've lived at 3 apartments since I moved to this area 7 years ago. This is by far the nicest apartment community I've lived in. The staff is wonderful; security is excellent, and grounds are well-maintained. I definitely would recommend this apartment community.

Extremely bad experience and unfair practices. The buildings are old & poorly maintained. The staff & the service are horrible. On top of that they keep on adding unfair fees and charges to your monthly bill. They not only make you compulsory pay $45 for cable which was never in my contract and threaten you if you dispute these charges. Also on moving out they will try every trick in the book and even illegal means to make you pay extra charges.

Really bad choice. Will not recommend at all. I have lived here for a year and I am so eager to move out. The staff has tried every trickery to prevent me from leaving as no new tenants are coming in to this pathetic apartment. This apartment is a poor choice because of 1. Old Construction 2. Old appliances that do not work. Repair & Service is extremely poor. 3. Unhelpful staff 4. Predatory practices like giving you wrong notices and then claiming it was done by mistake. 5. Making you pay a $45 for cable compulsarily, even though it was not in the contract 6. No proper upkeep of facilities

I feel sorry for the residents of C.V.a.C.G. The buildings aren't bad, but the people running the property are bottom-of-the-barrel. Cristi and Dana -- this bunch used to manage the downtown property where I live. Thank god they're gone. Things are 00 better now. This is what used to occur, as a norm: 1. Numerous break-ins, vandalisms and thefts -- WHILE the security guard was 'on duty'. 2. Trash & puke in the elevators and corridors. 3. Loud music and fights over loud music. Constantly. During weeknights! 4. Rent increases on lease renewal, on the order of $70-$150. 5. Leasing to criminals. Sure, there were background checks -- on the surface, anyway -- but apparently Cristi & Dana were friendly with a couple of these and let them come right in & create problems for other residents. This is documented, not conjecture. NONE of the above is occuring now. It's like night vs. day. And all the new owners did was take over, no special magic. The poor residents of C.V.a.C.G. should get so lucky. Avoid this place, so long as the aforementioned employees (and it's parent company, M.A.A., aka Colonial Properties) are running the place. They're only goal is to sign as many leases as possible. They can't lose, but you can.

We just moved out of this place and I implore you to look elsewhere. We had an absolutely nightmarish experience with the staff, a terrible mold issue that left me sick for a year straight with bronchitis/pneumonia, and a roach infestation from another adjacent apartment that they would not take seriously. Save yourself a year of hell and rent elsewhere. The apartments are so old, ugly, moldy & expensive. The model is nothing like what you actually get, maintenance is a joke, staff are rude and condescending.

This place is a joke. Nothing works. The staff is completely rude, not one bit of professionalism. Where do they find these idiots. Maintenance is a quick fix. Nothing ever gets fixed right resulting in you having to deal with the rude staff again and again. Rent raises for no reason. College town rentals were nicer than these places. I just can't wait to get out.

I currently live in building 15 and I have been here for 2 months. I recommened the community to a friend who will be moving in around June. I absolutely like the place. The office staff is so friendly and eager to help in any way possible. I have had one maintenance request and it was taken care of very quickly. I recommend this property to anyone looking for an apartment. I have had no problem with parkind and the fitness center which is open all the time has most of your cardio equipment and weight machines.

DO NO RENT HERE!!! Cockroaches, mice, quick fix maintenance. Bad neighbors. I've been here over 2 years, the 1st year was good despite the cockroaches. I had to constantly bug the rental management to fill in the gaps of drywall with something to prevent more infestation, fix the drywall that was knocked out, re caulk the bathroom (never done). Neighbors constantly dropping glass and beer bottles off balcony. They raised my monthly renewal by $110! For what?! Cockroaches, mice and crap maintenance. I've been a great tenant, I've never been late/missed a payment. I keep to myself and for what, only to be bullied out. The neighborhood has declined in the past 2 years. Since the pool has no one to monitor it or locked after hours, there is usually someone in the pool doing things they shouldn't in public.

I live here now! I actually just moved in about a month ago. I was told I would have an upgrded apartment and I dont. I have old appliances in my apartment. There were mutliple things wrong when I moved and the rental office claimed my apartment was so spotless that the cleaning people would think it was already cleaned and they did. Because i had to reclean my bathroom, I had mildew at the bottom of my cabinet in bathroom and my toilet seat had black stains on it. They left it like that for what ever reason thinking it was ok and it wasnt. I dont understand how you upgrade half of the property and not the other half. The trash compactor is nasty, small and creepy. I will be moving when my least is up in a year.

Great Place to Live!
I don't understand people sometimes. They complain about some of the smallest things and then blow it out of proportion when writing reviews. I never have a problem with parking, the maintenance staff has been prompt and thorough, and the management team is very courteous and helpful. This is definately a dog friendly place and their are spots where owners haven't picked up after their dogs, but is no where near as bad as the preview below has portrayed it. I personally know both the great dane and rotweiler owners and they pick up after their dogs all the time! I mainly wanted to write this review because I have had a great experience here so far and would HATE to see a couple grumpy people lie and blow things out of proportion because they have a small complaint. DON'T CHANGE A THING!

Like stepping in dog crap?
This place would be great if people cleaned up their dog crap. Great Dane? Rottweiler? Seen those guys crap everyday and no one picks it up. Have kids? Hope you like cleaning up dog crap from their shoes. Truly crappy apartments. I hope you like not having any spots to park in. Instead were just going to throw a dumpster in your spot....Enjoy! I hope you like short showers as well because your hot water will last about 8 mins if your lucky. Oh and they have fans but it sounds like nails on a chalk board so that's free of charge. Ice makers in every fridge but they don't make any ice! And you can put all this on your 1st inspection when you move in. It's wishful thinking because no one will fix it! I have lived in some crappy places but this one takes the cake. It has everything but a high crime level. That's the one good thing about it. My car hasn't been broken into yet.

Terrible customer service
My husband and I were told our apartment was on hold for 24 hours. When we returned after 3 hours it has been rented. When we asked for another available apartment at the same Rate she adamantly refused and our agent left the room and hid from us. The staff was rude, unprofessional and poorly trained.

Unjustly tries to charge you after you move out.
I moved out and left everything sparkling clean. Before moving out, I asked for inspection. Manager found spots in the closet on the carpet and wanted to charge me over $500 for it. I was able to easily wash away the spots and showed it again. They said it's fine, but when I moved out the manager said I had spots in the living room. Management is dishonest, they will try to charge you $ on top of your security deposit when you move away. If you don't pay, they will hurt your credit score. Stay away!

Everything's Fine Until You Have Any Issue
The following is a copy of my letter of intent to not renew my lease (it's worth noting I submitted this to our corporate office a few weeks ago, but no one ever cared to respond): The staff's lack of concern for their tenants' issues is unnerving. We have lived here for 2 and a half years, so obviously there were some aspects of the living situation that kept us here. The main reason was the price and that the tenants are generally quiet and polite. However, we have had a fair share of issues. From our first day moving in to our first apartment, there was major water damage in the bathroom. This was such an issue that the property manager had to make arrangements for us to use a bathroom in the adjacement building in a guest unit. The repair took a little over a week to finish. That particular unit didn't have much else in the way of problems, but we only lived in that one for about 7 months. We have been in this current unit for 21 months. In that amount of time, we have encountered several issues. Water came up through the carpet around the utility closet on two occasions. The first incident was fixed relatively fast and didn't cause much damage. The second time, a large amount of the carpet had to be cut up and replaced. You can see defined lines where the new carpet was put in. Maintenance informed us that both issues were caused by the same thing. It seems like all they had to do both times was snake the outside drain. We had to make a suggestion to the property manager that there be preventative maintenance to stop this from happening again. In addition to that, the refrigerator has had a consistent slow leak for what has been over a year now. We have called maintenance out to repair this a few times, but a solution was never reached. On the last visit, the maintenance guy said that some fridges just do that; all we have to do is wipe it up every now and again. A while back, we had an issue where our AC stopped working. We called the front office at about 4:55 (still during business hours), but were told maintenance was gone for the day and they would be out the next morning. The staff member who took the call told us to just open a window. We live on the bottom floor with a toddler. Not a very smart thing to do overnight. In addition to that, we had made complaints about our neighbor letting his dog poop outside the back door and never clean it up. They never followed up on this situation, so if we were to open our window, we would have to deal with the smell of dog feces. We called back and demanded someone be sent out. When he reached us, he said that we should have called before 5 (the maintenance staff is often short and sometimes rude). We did, but were told that everyone was gone. They reluctantly came out and fixed it. I believe it was a few months later where we ran in to the same issue. The first time the guy came out, he said there was just a stick in the unit outside. Turns out, something inside the unit needed to be replaced. The next morning the AC was out and we had to call maintenance to come out and do the replacement. The most frustrating issue of all has been the excessive amount of house centipedes we have encountered in this unit. The exterminator has come out on several occasions to spray and has even tried stronger solutions, but nothing has kept them away. The front office has offered us no alternative solutions to this matter. To make matters even worse, in the past few days we have seen a jump in the number of centipedes. When we put in a maintenance request asking for this issue to be resolved within 24 hours, we received no response. After the 24 hour period passed, we contacted the office directly. They said their contract only has the exterminator come out on Tuesdays. The lady at the office stated that they would not come out for just one apartment. When we requested that they contact them and possibly even pay them so they could come out and handle this issue, the woman still refused. She said maybe her maintenance people had something they could spray around the apartment. It has been over three hours since this call was made, but still no response (not included in original letter: no one ever called back and no one came out for 5 days). We have encountered several other issues, but they won't all be mentioned as all apartment complexes (especially older ones like this) are entitled to their share of maintenance issues. These issues are all severe problems that should have been handled in a much better manner. We sincerely hope the front office treats the rest of their tenants better than this, as our tenure here can only be viewed as inconvenient and the staff's actions are nothing short of completely unacceptable. Please do not view this as a retaliation for recent events, as we have intended to vacate for several months. This review has been coming. We want you to read over this and use it to improve your management. It is apparent that our leaving will not affect your operation much, if at all, but there are serious improvements that need to be made in order for your property to be well liked by the tenants. If you don't believe that people are upset, please check your rating on apartmentratings.com. It seems as if your rating has dropped in the past few years and you could stand to improve.

Horrible !!!!
Please Stay Away!! Live there for 4 years. During last year snow storm the parking lot looked like a war zone since management refused to remove snow. Lots of damaged vehicles, while their parking was clean. They even did not clean handicapped parking spots. The manager is very rude, keeps hanging up the phone when you ask her to explain sudden phantom charges on your bill which she cannot explain. Although we paid our rent regularly for all those 4 years, they kept us hostage not letting us leave even when our contract expired. We had to pay additional one month of rent 25% addition since we did not inform them of moving in writing two months ahead (did I say that our lease expired!!). They keep sending us unexplained bills. The apartment was so drafty that the heating bill was much higher for the one bedroom apartment that it is now for our 3 bedroom, 3 stories house. You have been warned !!!!

highly do not recommend this plac
The maintenance people don't know how to fix anything and the office staff/manager is no better. I had heating issues the whole winter i rented from them and my electric bill spiked 150% than normal. All they extended my way to help "fix" he issue was to give me a $100 off one months rent. Which obviously did not compensate for the 5 months i had to run emergency heat and my energy bill was through the roof! When i tried to contact the staff they never wanted to contact me back. I tried to take it above there heads to corporate and they never got back to me either. I called them 4 or 5 times and they always said the district manager would return my call in a few days. Yea it is 7 months later and i am still waiting on hearing from him/her. The people that live there are all old and do not welcome "younger" people into there territory very nicely. I would not recommend this to any young couple that likes to have people over and watch movies or play video games. Great location but not worth all the trouble and BS that they put you through.

Nice place to live
My wife and I have lived here for about two years now. We had to move out of our last apartment/town home do to noise. We live on the 3rd (top) floor. Noise is never a problem. I can hear my neighbor's music when walking in the hall way but as soon as I close my door and go into my apartment, I cannot hear a thing. The apartments are very nice. The area is safe and the apartment complex is very safe as well. The other tenants seem to be very nice or just keep to themselves. The management staff is fine and the maintenance staff has been very good. They usually come the day of your request. If you want a nice apartment home with nice, safe neighbors and at a good price, then this is a good place.
