Lakecrest at Gateway park is a nice place to live. It is peaceful, safe and clean. I love the walking trail around the lake and how my unit faces the mountains. Beautiful sunsets! Repairs are usually done as soon as requested and there is plenty of parking. My rent has gone up with each lease, but not too high- still I wish they would reward good tenants by not raising prices. You have to pay a small fee to share the community wifi and the signal is not very strong. Also, utilities have doubled but by no fault of the complex. Overall, the positives outweigh the negatives which is why we've stayed for over 2 years

DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place was the worst apartment I have ever lived in. Like the other review they take you for every penny. The $12 wifi charge is ridiculous when we never used it, nor asked for it. The walls are terrible we could hear our neighbors arguing every night. We even had 2 attempted break ins but the office could care less about it. We had to move out of state and were charged $104 for utilities during a month we were not there... how did that happen????? They are definitely running a scam they do everything to get money from you and treat you like ----. Luke, Megan and the other weasel in the office are a pitiful excuse of a management team. We were lied to upon move in and their management didn't seem to want to fix the situation. The maintenance staff just seems to let themselves into your apartment whenever they see fit, with or without notice and definitely do what they can to find "violations" to get more money. Seriously there are MUCH better apartments for a lower price. I'd give anything to go back and NEVER sign a lease here it was the biggest mistake I have ever made. Good luck if you move in here!

Lakecrest is a COMPLETE JOKE!!!!! I have had more issues at this place. The manager..COMPLETLY worthless! They have all these hidden fee's they do not tell you about until a month later when you recieve your water bill. My water bill was about 36.00 a month.. BUT WITH ALL THE OTHER fee's, it was about 101.00 a month on TOP of my rent! i was quoted 965.00 for rent, and currently pay 1086.00 for rent! When you put in a request from maintance.. It takes them.. 5 days MAYBE..if your lucky. There has been requests that i have put in and still havent been fixed. My friend came right after me and was going to move into a 1 bedroom, when she came to pick up her keys, they told her, her aparment was rented to someone else. They said sorry, and she would have to pick a different apartment AND pay more money! Half of the time the office staff is completly dumb founded and have no idea whats going on. The manager.. complete DING BAT!! I could go on and on about this worthless apartment complex. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! I got 1 more month and i can tell them goodbye and never never look back!! My nightmare will be over!

This place looks nice on the outside but once you sign your life away, you start to realize how you screwed yourself. 1. Lots of low-lifes live in the complex 2. Can be very loud; people blasting car stereos at 3am is frequent 3. GEESE are very loud in the fall, goo luck falling asleep (in addition to neighbors) 4. Gates are a false sense of security 5. Car break-in's occur even with security patrols 6. Utilities are through the roof, you pay for watering the lawns in the summer 7. Internet you are FORCED to pay for is TERRIBLE and extremely unreliable 8. Bird nets they put up do not really keep birds out, they keep them in the balconies once the birds figure out the simple net. 9. Fire doors in corridors slam when neighbors close them, very loud 10. Management just knows how to screw you over, they raise your rent and refuse to negotiate 11. If you get a package be prepared to wait a while to get it 12. Pet rent is outrageous and the deposit is $400 per pet, $200 NON-refundable 13. When I moved in the heat broke, took a week to fix in the coldest week of the year. Did NOT compensate me. For the price they charge for an apartment you could be making payments on a house these days!

Terrible apartments, poor customer service, ridiculous mandatory fees. When I first moved in, there was a hole in one of the doors. They put in a work order for it, 8 months later when I moved out (thankfully a deployment got me out of this place,) it was not fixed and they tried to charge me for it saying I damaged their property. Thankfully I kept all the paperwork and was not charged. There is a "mandatory" $12/month fee for the poor excuse they call internet. Barely able to get on any website due to the poor bandwidth when it was up. There are pigeons everywhere, they will lay eggs and leave droppings all over your patio (which I was charged for them "having to clean". Even after complaining multiple times asking for them to do something about the annoyance of the birds.) Also, this place does not allow you to have a reptile due to them being "more destructive then dogs and cats." How is this possible when they are kept in cages all day? The lake outside? Terrible as well. Not only is it not maintained like everything else here, the smell is horrid. Suffice it to say, I will not be returning and will not reccomend this place to anyone.

First and foremost, I am not an employee of LakeCrest!!!!!! However I understand, from my experience working at a call center, that people are more inclined to share their more negative feelings then their true day to day experiences. With that said, this is my opinion. All and all my rent pays for the amenities described. I love the path around the lake, adore the landscaping, and above all the pool! Is there room for improvement?? Yes I think so, however it's nothing more then any other property deals with. The front office has gone through changes, but I think for the better! And I also feel that the property manager Megan is doing a fantastic job!! Maintainace is quick to respond, lawn always looks great, and parking is available! Do I get my own parking space?? No. Do I get my own butler?? No. Do I get my own personal "front desk" personal to cater to my every need??? No. Again my rent pays for the amenities described. I, personally am satisfied!

I go back and forth everyday about if I like this place or not. Pros: Very close to my work and the airport Our apartment is gorgeous and huge which I love. We always have space to park right near our building. The maintainence team is AWESOME! They are so quick to respond if there is a problem. The gym is convenient if you have your own magnet for the treadmills, otherwise you have to check in to get one (only works if the leasing office is open). Cons: The gates are always open and if they are closed, people tailgate through them all day and night. The pool is always full of rude teenagers and no parents. Our water bill skyrocketed this month, when we moved in our building was pretty empty. Now that it is filling up, our water bill has increased even though our personal use has not. It seems like every other day the hot tub is broken. The wifi is a joke. We are required to pay 12 dollars for it every month and we cannot even connect to it in our apartment. If we can, it is not fast enough to do anything and it is an unsecure connection. It is $85 a month for a garage. There is a guy that goes through the trash cans everyday. All in all, I like where we are but the "perks" could be better for what we pay.

Horrible Manager
I moved in the end of Feb 2012 and everything seemed to be good until I had to speak with the manager about an issue we were having. Well to begin I believe the Manager (Meagan)had a problem with me for some unknown reason from day 1. She is very very rude. She WILL NOT apologize for any mistakes made by her or her staff but will repeat over and over that unfortunately you will have to deal with it. She does not return phone calls either. I really like this community and the staff (except her) although the rent is kind of pricy. Dealing with her unpleaseant demeanor ultimitely is having me think seriously about breaking my lease. There is no way a company should let a rude, judgemental, unsympathetic person run any sort of business dealing with people. The maintenance people are lazy seemed to be very rushed. As stated before the major reason I would not recommend the apts is because of Meagan the manager. What is sad is when we were signing the lease the leasing agent warned us of her behavior, about a month later he was let go. Then just recently a different leasing agent pretty much stated the same thing about her and her abruptness. I have also spoken to other tenents and they also have complaints about this women. One other thing that totally boggled my mind is since Feb our water bill has been no more than $6.00 then we received the bill for May's usage in June and the amount was $39 and some change. How the heck to you get a sudden increase like that?? I ask the asst manager and he explains you are charged water by the buildings usage not your individual usage. So all this time you mean to tell me I'm trying to preserve the amount of water we use to keep our bill down to only have to pick up the slack of others in this building. NO GOOD!!! This is also something that needs to be discussed before signing the lease. So now my utility bill paid to Lakecrest is $96 and some change, the Xcel bill is $80 and some change, and rent is $875 for a 2 bd, 1ba. About $1051 for just me and a 8 year old. This is insane I really regret this move! AND you have to pay $12 a month for WiFi even if you don't use it and half the time we can get a signal in the living room we have to be in the master bedroom. Just thinking about all of this makes me hate it more and more.

people should stop lying
I have been staying here for 2 months and I must say that before i had moved in and read the reviews on here,I was really worried cos i had already made paymens before i read the reviews but after staying here for 2 months,a lot of the reviews on here are bloody lies, some say the place is filthy, lies,i see a man(--------) every morning with a bucket and a trash picker picking whatever he could find, the gate I do have a concern about cos I came in at 1 in the morning on a monday and the gate was wide opened, that shocked me,the wifi,i believe is a stupid idea but I bet to people who dont have internet its a vey nice idea,i do have mine and have no need for their wifi but when i go to the pool and take my laptop,i definately cant connect to my personal connection,in that sense, their wifi charges can be understood but i would prefer they get rid of it. they seem to be on the "need your money" side which is kinda scary but cant say yet till I watch them further but all in all,it has been a very very decent experience for me so far and oh about the staff, have dealt with 5 of them,3 ladies and 2 men,i know lynett is very helpful and always willing to help and smiles too much, some other guy always in a suit is also a nice help, the other guy(--------,i think) is too full of himself, while some lady with a scowl face got kicked out, glad about that

worst place ever - do not waste your money
Lakecrest is the absolute worst place to live. There is no security gate, but they will charge you if you lose the security key. They charge you for wi-fi even if you don't use it. You are threatened with eviction for everything, but when you ask for an explanation none is offered. Basically, this establishment is managed by inept people of low intelligence. Unless you want to defined by the company you keep, steer clear of Lakecrest.

Great place
My husband and I just renewed our lease at Lakecrest for a second year. We have really enjoyed living here so far. The grounds are really beautiful, and I love the huge lake with a walking path around it. They have done a good job of making the place aesthetically appealing. The inside of our apartment has been renovated and appliances are fairly new, so the interior is as beautiful as the outside. Overall, it's a great deal for how nice the places are. A few things we don't like are the $12/month wi-fi fee which doesn't work very well. Most people end up purchasing their own internet package on top of it. Also, the parking lot was recently repainted and we had to move our cars or they would be towed, which is fine but I don't feel that we were given much notice in advance. Despite the couple negative things I listed, we really like the place and would recommend it.

Worst Renting Experience, Ever.
I would not recommend living here. Looks can be deceiving. Sure, the actual apartments are nice but the office staff is some of the worst I've ever experienced. I've received unwarranted notices regarding balances that I've never owed, had packages delivered to the office without being notified of them being received, and every time I have an issue with something, I spend more time trying to track down the appropriate person to handle the situation rather than actually rectifying it. I've also received a number of unlawful noise complaints, some left on my door when I hadn't even been home in over 24 hours. I will definitely not renew my lease once it's up, and would not recommend living here. The amenities are far over priced, and rarely are in working order (ie. the entry gates, exercise equipment, etc..)

Office Manager cannot do her Job!!
I lived at Lakecrest for over three years. The apartments themselves were pretty awesome, and the grounds were pretty and it was nice to take a walk around the lake. The grounds were usually kept up on but they did not keep doggy bags stocked well and so dog feces would pile up some times and they did not get rid of the ice on the sidewalk very well. Often the patch of concrete right at the base of my stairs was an ice rink. We got in before the prices started skyrocketting and so it was at a resonable rate. I always had roomates and started in a 3 brdm 2 bath but downsized a year late to a 2 bdrm 2 bath. Over all the staff is pleasent but generally nothing gets done, and when it finally gets done it is usually wrong. I needed to add a storage unit so I called the office they said they would find one I could use and get back to me so I could pick up the keys, 2 weeks later I have heard nothing I call back in and am told the same thing... with the same result. It took me 3 months to finally get a storage unit, it turn out they hire a lot of temps so I was talking with a different person each time who was making a note somewhere and never giving it to the manager who apparently is the only on that can look at list and see which storage units are available. Then several time a year with each of my 3 leases someone from the office would call and ask us to come down and resign the leases becasue they forgot to put a page in when we signed it originally. I could be wrong but if you do this for a living maybe you should know how to put the lease together right the first time. The 3rd year they asked me I refused, told them I would not sign anything not originally in the lease. They also seem to loose track of who is living in the apartments, randomly my name, or my roomates name would suddenly be misspelled, or the wrong roomate completely would be listed. I only changed roomates once and it was when I downsized, but they continued to put old roomates down as tennets. Then when I finally got out of there they sent us a bill saying we owed money for cleaning and such, but they sent out 2 bills one says we owe about $100 the other said we owed nothing. So my roomates and I called the office and only Desiree could help us figure it out, so we left her 6 voicemails between the two of us... None of which she claims to have gotten. Then a month later i get a letter saying this is the final notice before our account goes to collections...I never recieved the first 2 at all...She claims she did not have any forwarding address(we gave it to them with our keys), so where did she send the first 2 notices supposedly, and how did she finally figure it out and send us the last notice. Anyway trying to shorten this story up some I am now dealing with lawyers and debt collectors to try and despute the debt, because she is an idiot. Oh and they sent our collection notices to people that I have not lived with since the first apartment and have damaged their credit too, and they were never in the apartment in question. Also they never gave me back my pet deposit, and never explained why they were keeping it... and my pets did not ruin anything. No damage was done to our apartments above normal wear and tear. I lived in the same unit for 2 and half years... of course the carpet needed cleaning, and the walls needed to be painted! But that has nothing to do with my pets so why did I not get my pet deposit. The really short version is it is not worth it, it is not worth dealing with the staff for the grounds and the apartments!! If they ever change management maybe try then.

Love it!
I just renewed my lease here for another year and absolutely love it! Beautiful scenery and the office staff are always helpful and friendly. My only complaint is that you are charged $12 a month for wi-fi service whether or not you already have internet service with another provider. Seems redundant. Otherwise, love it here!

Could not PAY me to live here again!
Awful! Just awful. Management is terrible. We were lied to about amenities to get us to move in. They use the key to your apt. just to drop flyers off without notice. I was walked in on three times despite my numerous requests for notice before entry. The charges for water etc. are extremely high. Even when we were out of town for a month our electric Bill for a 600 sq ft apt was over $200 dollars. They charge. you monthly for internet that does not work. I worked with them repeatedly to have it fixed but nothing changed and they charged us anyway. All this and much more has made me SO happy to get out of that hellhole.

WORST PLACE EVER!!!!
Lakecrest is by far the worst place I have ever rented from! From the moment I signed the lease the apartment complex told my husband and I we couldn t see our unit because it was getting fixed up for us so to call in a few days. This was fine until we tried calling a few days later, ALL DAY, only to keep having the phones ring. When we went in the next day they had claimed that their phones had been down the past few days. Which we understand that things like this happen. Finally when it was time to see our unit, my husband and I noticed it was not the floor plan that they had told us we were getting. Once back in the office the manager rudely gave us keys to units we could walk around to and pick from. All the floor plans had been the same as the unit they assigned us to. Just an FYI the nice show room apartment they show doesn t exist!!!So my husband and I got stuck with a floor plan that we did not want. They also claimed that they would change the carpet and such, but comes move in day we have red stains in on the living room carpet, and blue stains everywhere in the master bed room. Not to mention there maintenance staff there SUCK!!!! All the orders we put in for from broken cabinets , a broken sink, cracked tiles and mold behind the tiles in the bathroom, my husband has had to fix!! The maintenance staff has no manners or respect. After telling the office to have them knock they still barge in. I was in the shower and my daughter was playing when a maintenance man came into my home. You would think he would have said sorry and left, but no he tried to still do his half --- job that had to be redone by my husband and played off his stupidity. Not to mention all the orders we put in for only get a response left on the counter of all is fine . This is not just the maintenance staff. The management is just as bad. Every time you go into the office after you have signed a lease they are very rude to you and act as if they are better than you and like you are wasting their time. My husband and I have requested a meeting with the manger of the office and a month latter we have yet to hear from her. Moving in we were told that we had to pay $40 a piece for gate access cards to get in past 6pm. Since living here since May the gates have NEVER worked. The office always gives an excuse that they are working on it but they never are. We have also talked to neighbors who have lived here over a year and say that the gates have never worked. When you also sign your lease they tell you that they have wifi included in rent for $12 a month. The wifi is a joke. It s worse than dial up speed and most websites wont load on there wifi. Sadly you are forced to pay for a wifi you don t use or that doesn t work. Come onto the property and you will laugh at how many people have to pay for internet through other companies while paying the complex for this scam. This is just the beginning of our problems. All our outlets/switches in the apartment short out or cause a spark to fly from them. Now I see why this cheap place wants you to have renters insurance. Between rent, utilities and Excel bill this place is not worth the cost of $1300 a month!!! Before this place when I lived Downtown my rent was cheaper! SAD!!!Also I would gladly open up my home to let you hear the LOUD neighbors above us. I blame this partially on horrible building material, but mostly on bad property management! Don t bother calling the office if you run into this problem. They are worth less. We ve tried. So if you want to save yourself a nightmare that we have to live in until May of 2012 STEAR CLAEAR OF LACKCREST!!!!!!!

great property, nice amenities, nice staff
its seems the below was written by the same disgruntalled person. i actually really enjoy the current staff. it seems they finally got it right after swaping out 4 managers (or was it 3? i get them confused now), a few assistants, and lord knows how many leasing agents. i haven't seen any of the negative listed below other than the gates. the manager goes out of her way to make sure you're happy with your apartment and i've always felt very welcomed by her when i walk through the door. i have experienced the rudeness with previous managers but this one is really very nice and helpful. the assistant made an error on my account twice and sent me notices even though i've never paid late a day in my life, but she's always very friendly, appologetic, and fixes things right away. nubina (sp?) is a little too outgoing for me but overall a very nice person. lisa and melissa are both incredibley sweet and very helpfull. it will be refreshing when melissa comes back from maternity leave, she is probably my favorite. and the new guy is just quiet but very respectful and welcoming as well although i've never delt with him directly he has said hello when i walk through the door. i don't have problems in my apartment so i don't know the maintenance staff very well but the groundskeeper is very pleasant. she makes a point to be friendly and will go out of her way to do so. its a very nice property. my only complaint is that the gates aren't working but they do a great job of keeping us informed as to what is going on and it doesn't seem to be their fault. but who knows. there has been someone working on them a few times in the past month or two that i've seen. hopefully that will be done soon. other than that it is a nice place to live. i think this staff is just what we needed. it was getting a little weird for a while to see a new face every few months even if the change was a good thing. it's not the best nicest i've ever lived but it's over all very nice and i personally really enjoy the conversations i have with the staff members. but like i said, i dont have problems with my apartment so i only speak to them when paying rent and it's usually a pleasant experience.

Not bad, not great...
Lets start with the good: I really do like my apartment. For the price, it is hard to find a better, larger apartment for the price. For me, it is convenient to work but miles from anything. I've been here 2 years (almost) and I'm generally happy. The grounds are well maintained in summer, but could use a little more care in the winter... like plowing before people go to work, or getting the snow and ice off the walkways instead of waiting for it to melt. I disagree with some of these reviews that the walls are thin. I actually never hear anything through the walls. I hear my neighbor downstairs when his stereo is up and I hear people in the hallways, but never through the walls themselves. The bad: The office staff changes every time I go there to pay rent (no automatic or electronic rent payment system... what is this, the 90's??) I work a lot and I occasionally travel for work, paying rent is actually a big hassle for me. The WiFi is a waste of money. I have one of their transmitters right outside my balcony and it still won't connect. Yet, we still have to pay the mandatory fee. Trash is usually overflowing at the dumpsters so there are either too few dumpsters or too few pickups during the week. It seems like they gave up on fixing the gates, which are now open all the time. Yes the birds are bad. Geese in the winter, pigeons in the summer. Door insulation is non-existent. One day the wind was blowing and it was moving papers in my living room despite the door being closed. I just fixed it myself. Easier than dealing with the front desk. Oh, and the office is usually closed 15 minutes before their posted closing time. Not very convenient for people to pick up packages after work. The worst: Over the last few months, several of my neighbors have left. Most of the vacancies seem to stay vacant. If they are filled, the new residents are not as 'neighborly' shall we say. I am not worried for my safety here, but I keep my head up. You will see people loitering near buildings, but I have not witnessed any trouble. This is new within the last few months. I had great neighbors for the first year. In summary: I haven't personally had any problems here in 2 years. But the problems others have cited don't seem unreasonable. It really is a nice apartment at a reasonable price in what is not an otherwise attractive neighborhood (Montbello). My lease is up for renewal and they want 20% more for the next year. I am still undecided if I will renew for nearly $800.

Worst apartment experience EVER
I am not hard to please but this apartment complex is a new level of TERRIBLE. The management is RUDE, slow, and not helpful! You would think that they would try to please new tenants and get them excited about a new relationship. They simply don't care. They promised we could move on a certain day at a certain time and then the apartment was not ready until the NEXT day. When we showed up with our movers the apartment was destroyed: mud on the walls, cigarette butts smashed into the carpet, etc. Apparently they received the key from the preveous tenant on a Tuesday. We were supposed to move in on Saturday. They waited until Friday to even look at the unit. The grounds (lake, pool) is beautiful here but don't be fooled!!! RUN from this place!!! I called to speak to management numerous times and my calls were never returned. I had to drive all the way back there to speak with someone. Customer service is dead at this place.
