You need to read this before renting
While this place may appear to be very good, looks were deceiving to me. I lost my job in 2009 with 4 months left on the lease. I could have broken the lease, but found the money each month to pay and pay on time. I then got a job and moved, with 2 weeks left on my lease, but I was all paid up and merely vacating a fully paid for apartment with 2 weeks left. I offered to turn in the key to Lakecrest and turn over ownership of the unit to them then so they could re-rent it earlier than planned in exchange for absolutely nothing. A winning deal for them, or so I thought. They accused me of trying to break the lease so I took the easier path and just mailed them the key 2 weeks later. I don't need to be treated like that. I thought that was the end of it, but no, they not only didnt return my deposit but they tried to charge me a small sum on top of the deposit for "cleaning" although I returned it in better condition than they gave it to me. Perhaps if they had accepted my offer of leaving 2 weeks early they and I could have done a walk through and found no problems. I recommend taking pictures on move in and move out. Luckily I did that, but now they have hired some guy who sounds like a thug to get the $40 or so out of me that they are wrongly accusing me of owing. The truth of the matter is they still owe me my deposit and I will be taking action to get it back. They would be far better off spending their efforts repairing the gate for the "gated" community that never worked the entire time I was there rather than going out of their way to treat their former residents in this manner. I will continue to post until they stop harrassing me. Please note I left in 2009, it is now 2011, these people will never leave you alone.

Warning!!!!!! Find somewhere else to move to!!!!!!!!
There is so many things wrong with this place i prob. will not have enough space to write it, so i will keep it short and sweet. We need people in the office that know what there doing, no one knows how to lease to anyone. I had three different office staff tell me three different things when i renewed my lease i still have no idea what has happened to my old deposit, my prorated money where i switched apartments early and i have been in my new apartment for about 5 months and no one still knows anything!!! The pool is a disgrace! I think they need to hire a professional to keep the pool clean, because its always cloudy, according to the office staff the pool is usually closed because chemicals aren't right. Theres people that don't even live here that brings in a lot of people to the pool, they have had food in the pool, dirty diapers, kids swimming in diapers, all the pool furniture thrown in the pool. Office staff has a pool party, and watches kids in the hot tub(that does not even suppose to be in there at all) watched kids pushing other kids in(kids almost hit their head on side of pool) young kids at pool with no parents(office staff suppose to keep check on that and don't, thats why they had a infant drown about 3 years ago in the hot tub, no supervision!!!!!!!! I could go on and on, please look elsewhere it will save you a big headache!!!!!!! Oh 1 more thing, if you want to get a parking spot at your complex, better make it appoint to be at your apartments by 4:00p.m or you will be parking at another building, probably a long way from yours!!!!!

STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS POSSIBLE!!!!!
We don't even know where to start with the problems of this place. PROCEED WITH CAUTION IF YOU SIGN A LEASE HERE! It s very deceiving and first impressions leave you thinking you ve found a great place, but this place is nothing but trouble! For parking: our CAR was BROKEN INTO and the thieves attempted to steal our stereo, and management did nothing to ensure our future safety at the time. For noise: the WALLS ARE PAPER THIN and you can hear the conversations neighbors are having at a normal tone of voice. We could hear the dogs above us running around and howling when the owners left. Not good when you have a baby! For grounds: the PIGEONS HAVE TAKEN OVER every single porch and roof (the screens they provide for free don t prevent the pigeons from making a nest on your back porch)! Pigeon poop is everywhere and they do not have control over them at all! Pigeons seek higher grounds, so that s why the apartment complex across the lake doesn t have a pigeon problem- Lakecrest has higher roofs. TRASH was always overflowing from the bins, our garage was infested with MICE, our apartment always had ANTS (even after exterminating and we are not messy people), DOG POOP was always found in the commons area (not reinforced to be picked up) and during the winter the WALKWAYS are NOT SHOVELED in a timely manner. The COPY MACHINE in the business center was always BROKEN and kids of the employees were always on the computers. For safety: Every single week we see the COPS OUT HERE arresting someone or intervening. We have witnessed more people with ANKLE BRACELETS on at the pool in the summer, and SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR (i.e. what looked like drug dealing). When we first signed our lease we were told we would have gate access (and paid extra money each month due to 'increased safety') but waited 10 months before they put them in. They DO NOT ENFORCE dog breed restrictions because our neighbor had 2 pitbull puppies that almost bit our child. For construction: the place has CHEAP fixtures and appliances. For maintenance: Our first winter there, when the temperature was in the negative digits, they made us WAIT ALL NIGHT WITHOUT HEAT when we reported it, and we had a 6 month old at the time that was freezing. When asked to fix things in the apartment they would NEVER GET IT RIGHT the first time. We asked once for our shower to be fixed and they came in and said they fixed our toilet (which had nothing wrong with it). And the weather stripping on the doors was NEVER FIXED fully during our entire stay there (you could see light coming though at night from the bottom). The PIPES ARE BAD leading to the faucets which causes the water to taste like sewage. For staff: If I had to option of rating them with no stars I would have! They are HORRIBLE, HEARTLESS people! Make sure you get everything in writing! They tell you what you want to hear and then don t follow through. They make it very difficult to get a hold of to discuss any problems you have. Make sure to do the final walk through with them or they will SCAM you out of everything! Make sure to TAKE PICTURES of everything when you arrive and when you leave so you have proof of how you left it and any damages that were not caused by you. Basically I cannot recommend this place to anyone. My recommendation is to keep looking and save yourself the headache of dealing with this place!!!

3 Years and Counting! Thanks to the new staff!
We just signed on for our 3rd year here and we are very happy to call this place our home! The staff is amazingly helpful, kind, and welcoming. We've seen a LOT of turn over at this property and we can understand why. But the new staff is great! We especially like Raqel! She has been a delight to speak to any time we go to the office. The rest of the staff is great too! Melissa is always easy to talk to and very friendly. The manager actually came to our house last week to thank us for renewing!! We couldn't be happier! Thanks Lakecrest employees! For once we have a reason to renew other than just that we like our apartment!

We LOVE the new manager!!
We have had multiple issues with our apartment since we moved in. They told us the wrong amount to pay, they didn't have the apartment ready, there was always trash everywhere, the grounds looked horrible, the office felt stuffy and completely unwelcoming, no one would take the time to talk to you unless you set up an appointment, and worst of all they were rude. They made you feel like you were a constant inconvenience. The new staff is great! For once, they actually cares about our happiness! Even the leasing agents seem to be happy. They go out of their way to prove that they care about us and truly show they enjoy their jobs. We had an issue back in January and not only did the manager herself call us back to ensure everything had been completed but she left her desk (which no one would have EVER done before) to come to our apartment personally to see the issue. She did a follow-up last week to make sure we were happy and everything was good. We referred a friend to live here back in December and they are unbelievably happy as well. The manager even walked over to their apartment to introduce herself. We are SO glad she showed up before our lease expired in March or there would've been no way we would've stayed. For anyone who has had issues, talk to the manager. She'll get them fixed for you.

Love it here!
I highly recommend it here at Lakecrest. My apartment is beatiful....worth every penny, not only that but the staff is very nice. They are quick to answer any questions you may have, and make you feel this is truly your home. For all the apartments they are having to take care of, I think they are doing a great job in making you feel special.

Rip off
I just received my supplemental utility bill from the billing company. In 6 months water has gone up $888 and sewer 90%. They never maintain the sprinkler system so that most of the water either goes onto sidewalks or into the lake instead of on the grass, leading to dead grass and almost a 900 percent increase in water costs. Trash service went up 35% and service fee (where we pay them to do the jobs they are already paid to do) 41%. In addition they added pest control (which is normally the job of the complex) and two years ago they added a wi-fi which is only semi functional and were not given permission to add. in addition I gave up my garage as of May 1 and had $155 deposit on garage door openers which they refused to return. The place is convienent if you work in the neighborhood, well built and laid out, too bad management is a bunch of thieves and should be avoided.

Where do I begin?
1. The "security" gate at the entrances is ALWAYS open. 2. Annual party...office staff is present while residents and other hoodliums off the street do whatever they want. Food in pool. Infants in hot tub. Children swimming in diapers. And what do they do to rectify all this rule breaking?? Relax in their chair. The following day the pool had to be closed because a resident found a diaper floating in the pool. Do you have any idea the problems associated swimming in pools that have had diapers in it? E.Coli and other stomach related issues. I called the following same day to find out why it was closed and they said it was the chemicals. This is far from the truth. They were going to let people swim until maintanence staff had been notified there was a diaper in it. Maybe if you would tell people the real reason maybe they would stop letting their kids swim in their crappy diapers. 3. People in the pool that don't live here. Don't have a key? No problem. Just stand at the gate long enough and someone will let you in. 4. Paddle boats: the last time I walked by one of them was sinking into the water...SAFE? 5. Animals: breed restrictions not enforced. Period. 6. Park: horrible. Does anyone maintain this part of the property?? A few weeks ago there was a LARGE hole dug into the ground with no caution tape or any warning around this hole. There is also another large hole that the kids have dug and no one has bothered to fill it. Also a swing has been broken since I have been here and it has been secured with some sort of steel wire. How about we just fix it alright? 7. Birds: everywhere. Poop everywhere. This also goes back to the pool area; poop everywhere. Do you think you could clean the pool deck up once in a while. 8. Spa rarely works. Jets are either broken or water is cold. 9. Amenities: the pool table and movie room is a great idea, but you can only use those during office hours. The business center is a joke. There are either a bunch of kids playing on the computers, or the computers aren't working. 10. Office staff....what.a.freaking.joke. The staff changes monthly and no one knows what is going on half the time. Our paperwork was accidently shredded and had to re fax everything over while we were still living in a different state. There was no sense of urgency to get anything approved. 11. Apartment: poor construction and/or construction materials. Two of my doors have just fallen off the hinges with normal usage. Tiles in the entry way and door leading to patio cracking. Walls are paper thin. I can hear my upstairs neighbor peeing in the toilet if I happen to be in the bathroom the same time he is. Birds galore building nests on the fire sprinklers. And you know that money you pay each month for pest control?? Maybe they could have pest control come around monthly and spray for ant hills EVERYWHERE. 12. WIFI: What a rip off. I don't get a signal anywhere in my apartment but I have to be forced into paying for it each month. I don't even use it. I had to buy a wireless router to catch a signal. And finally what REALLY TICKS ME OFF... I go to use the pool today with my kids. We walk all the way there only to be told by someone from landscaping that the pool is closed. I call the office and I am told it is closed until the end of the week because they are treating the pool. Not even a shred of decency to send out a notice to the residents that the pool will be closed for 4 days. And I have a hard time believing that they are shocking the pool. All the lies they tell, there is probably something else wrong that they won't admit to. BTW. It doesn't take 4 days to shock the pool. As you can see this list is fairly long, and is hardly all the problems that are going on with this place. What KILLS me, is that the apartment leasing office staff is here during the day and can't even enforce the pool rules while they are here. The pool and office are right next to each other. It has only been open a few weeks and is constantly over ran with children who are unsupervised ( much like other places of the property because parents don't watch their kids because they are lazy, or at work )

Staff is still rude!
I have never lived in these apartments and I never will. I contacted a woman named Melissa and she was very nice when I talked to her. I was so excited about moving into the apartments and seeing how they really were. After Melissa got my deposit she didn't talk to me anymore. My husband and I live in Germany right now and wanted to move into the apartments in June. I had so many questions and concerns about the apartment, location, being away, and rent payments. I never got any questions answered. Maybe I should have asked before I gave her my money. I wouldn't move in here and live around these rude people if you gave me a million dollars. If I could give a negative star for staff I would.

Pretty Good
These apartments were just fine! Sometimes maintenance took a few days to get something fixed, but that was my only complaint. The office people were friendly and helpful, the complex was clean and nice - oh, except the gates NEVER worked. I really only used my pass maybe 5 times in the year and a half I lived there. You can hear your neighbors, but it's an apartment! I was in a 3 bedroom, and the heat/air conditioning didn't really get into my room/come through my vents, but they fixed it and then it was ok. I also had some friends who lived in 2 other apartments in the complex, and they liked it just fine also. I felt totally safe walking from my car at night. The lake is beautiful.

Meh at best
Field mice in apartment around August through the winter, exterminator and hole sealing later and my cat is still the best deterrent of them. My building is ok, just slow cars with loud bass going by at all times. Dropped all sorts of money in redoing the office, even built a huge fountain out front, but just because the leasing office is nice, it is no reason for the huge rent increase, nothing changed in my place. Gates used to close and I would have to wave my access thingy around for a few minutes before they would open and let me in, them a year ago they just stayed open for good. Halls are never cleaned and grounds crew is useless, it took 5 -------- to plant a tree sapling right outside the building. The guy that fixed my dryer and then later my water heater is top notch, he's the best thing about this place since he really takes pride in his work. Leasing staff is worthless, best example: I had a large package in their mail room for 3 weeks and I was never notified. I had to pick up something else and found it sitting there, with a correct address, name, and apartment # and it looked like it had been through a tour of duty in the Middle East.

I have lived here for almost 1 year now we work at DIA so needed to be very close. Have had no problems with management maintenance came out both times we called them within a day. Since we are facing the nature preserve we do not have noise problems from the parking lot but do have critter problems at times but call the office and they send them out to spray the next day so not a big deal. Love the apartment especially for the price. I do not hear my neighbors on the side but you do hear walking above you which I have had in almost every apartment I have been in.

Love it. Recommend!
I must live in the best building because I have none of the issues people are ranting about. I don't even hear a peep in my unit from other people's apartment. The service I've gotten thus far has been wonderful. I love how nice and big my place is and my neighbors mind their own business.

O.k. place, Staff blew.
I lived here while I was in the U.S. Army. I lived here from September 2005-January 2007. The place itself was pretty nice and the apartments were decent. The staff there really was horrible. I seemed to have dealt with God's Perfect B*tch all the time. Her name was Judy, or Julie. She was the one that showed me around at first and was as nice as can be. Once I signed the lease and moved in, things changed. I would go in the offices and turn in work orders and she was a rude as could be, or would completely ignore me. The other ladies in the office were never there or available to help. All in all, I think there are better places in the area. Security sucks there too. They gave me a card to go through the gate and in the 1.5 years I lived there, IT NEVER WORKED. I even told Judy and she gave me another BS one that did not work either. Security was crappy there because they lock the front/Main gate but leave the back one open, for anyone to drive in. Lots of car burglaries.

I Love it here...
I moved here from Kansas. I have never been To Colorado. I just got a job at DIA airport. Being unfamiliar to the area, I wanted to live close to work. I called the leasing office to get some information about the Lakecrest. I spoke with the Assistant Manager. She was very helpful, and answered all of my questions. I planned a trip to Denver before moving. My first stop was Gateway Park, the apartments just before Lakecrest. The Leasing Agent there was rude and pushy. I knew within five minutes, that this was a place I would not like to live. After surviving the golf cart ride, and tour I went to Lakecrest. I was greeted pleasantly. I felt like I was important. The staff was informative and gave me information about the restaurants, and thing s to do in the area. I left my deposit the same day. I really wanted a Lakeview apartment even though there was none left available. I flew back to Kansas to move all of my things. The lakecrest staff called me a few days later to let me know a Lakeview apartment became available. When I came to sign my lease the office was very busy, I had to wait a brief moment, but they told me they would be right with me. The apartment was very nice and clean. There was a problem with the toilet, but when I called to have maintenance take care of it. They were out to my apartment right away. I really like it here, and it is close to my job. I recommend Lakecrest and I had a good experience. Whenever I stop by the office the staff is very polite.

Terrible New Management!!!
if you ever want anything fixed in your apartment. you call and they say they will try and get someone there that day. they never come, and don't call you. you call them and they have what seems to be a scripted response, "there were emergencies, we will be there tomorrow". so you end up wasting two days instead of one. when they could have just told you a time for the next day. and this is the same scenario all the time. i have been through it at least 3 times. they are not respectful of your time. but the actual guy who does the repairs is great and friendly and efficient. if you call and complain about the neighbors music so loud it shakes your place all the time. they don't care and they don't do anything. no matter how many times it happens. no matter how many times security has to do a report. the management doesn't enforce anything. cigarette smoke fills our apartment from the neighbors, where it is so bad we have to leave sometimes. and again, they won't do anything about it. pool is supposed to be open on memorial day. when it has already been sunny for at least a few weeks. we had guest in town, excited for the pool. well it never opened and it was actually a couple more weeks, even though every day they said, "tomorrow". hot tub is supposed to be open year round, it usually isn't. they re-did the gym...supposedly...its terrible. it is supposedly a secured apartment complex. the gates have NEVER been closed. our neighbors car has been broken into.

If you like loud noises and a rude staff, gateway is the place for you!
I just moved out and it could not be soon enough! At all hours of the night there were cars that would "cruise" very slowly thru the parking lots playing extremely loud music. As for the apartment, yeah, its super nice! BUT, if something breaks then you are SOL. My hot water went out in Dec and it took them 2.5 weeks to get it fixed! After about 2 weeks I complained again and was told, "what do you want me to do about it?!?!" Then about a month later, in January, my heat went out...It took them 2 attempts to fix it over the week. Other then that I have never seen a grounds keeper out of the golf cart working. Someone actually vommited on the side walk outside my apartment back in November and its still there. (It is funny though if you think about it). Do not think that you will have a close commute to anything except the airport like they advertise. Also, make sure you make copies of any kind of payment you offer in for rent. I had an eviction notice pop up on my door 4 days after I paid my rent in full. I pulled up my online banking and found that Yes, that my checked had been cashed by Lakecrest on time. When I asked the staff where my check was, they had no record of it, when I showed them my bank statement it seemed that they couldnt get their feet out of their mouths fast enough. I understand simple mistakes....fine in fast food, but not with someones hard earned rent money! So, head the advise of all the reviews posted and do your research. I am sure plenty of people have good things to say about this place,unfortunatly, they are probably the same people that work there and get paid to do so. (;

It is not the same
I have been at Lakecrest since they opened in 2001. The whole complex has changed. If you want to be valued, don't move here. I will move as soon as I can, and will never look back. Greystar, the current management company-gets a "Gray" Star from me in satisfaction. The complex looks good, but we are facing a lot of insect and critter concerns. Not to mention the loud folks upstairs!!

Only If.....
I used to love this place. Never a problem with neighbors, good location, relatively cheap rent, but it is getting ridiculous now. For some reason, after living here for almost 2 years, a new neighbor(s) has decided it would be great if they continuously file noise complaints against me to the new staff. Unfortunately there is tenant in this building who is responsible for the noise, but now if there is a single complaint filed from this point on, I will be asked to leave the premises. The staff is somewhat understanding regarding the problem, I try to explain these noises do not come from my apartment, the staff seems to comprehend my arguments, but my file still contains every noise complaint possible. I don't own an apartment complex, but if I continuously received noise complaints, I would actually investigate them in some way instead of relying on a tenant to attempt to locate the noise. This is pretty much the only problem I've had here, in fact I've had three of my close friends move into this complex. But none of that matters, as these unfounded noise complaints will continue to be filed against me. Good luck in your apartment search, it seems this place has made many tenants upset, if this problem did not exist I would probably give it a good rating overall. Also, the pool is ridiculously busy every weekend.

Very Nice Place
I have lived at Lakecrest going on 3 years now. I love the apartment as well as the Location. New Management took over in September of last year and alot of good things are happening. It's nice to see the place getting some extra attention. I have not had many maintenance request but when I have the have been resolved immediately. Even when this place is under construction it seems like the office people have been very caring about the needs of the tenants. I have really enjoyed my stay and look forward to seeing the finished product. Keep up the good work!!!!!

I am real satisfied with the community. I have found that in any apartment community there are gonna be issues can't make everyone happy. But I find that Lakecrest is great because of its convience I love being right by the airport and I am close to downtown as well I just take I-70 to Brighton Blvd. I found that whenever I have any type of maintenence issue it gets resolved in a short time frame. Now I can understand where some people are comming from with their own issues with the property and everyone is entitled to their opinions. I have everything I need here.

In the gheeeetttttooooo
I've lived here for 1 1/2 years and like everyone else has said... they don't follow their own rules here. This gated community is not gated at all. The gates are always broken. The nice hot tub never works. It's either empty, cold, the jets don't work, or there's a bunch of crap in it. It sounds like my upstairs neighbor weighs 400 pounds, which I'm sure they don't, but they are very loud and you can hear everything. The complex won't do a thing about that either. This place used to be an airport community which was fine. Now it's an extension of Montbello. More and more trashy people are moving in here all the time. I was sleeping one night when my car alarm had gone off. This "kid" set off 3 car alarms that night trying to steal what he could. It's just one thing after another here! Oh... there's a "volleyball" pit too... but it's more like a litter box for the birds. They have never kept that up. They offer a pool table, with all crooked sticks. There's a dart board but they have one decent dart. There's never water in the workout room. The blinds are so cheap that if you touch them, they break and then the complex charges you 3 times as much as what they're worth. Hmmmm what else. I hate this place!!!

Staff and rules
I have only been here a short time but I'm not impressed! 1. Being a gated community for me was safety it never works! 2. I was told you could only have 4 guests at a time here in the pool that is never enforced and when you do complain about people that are there that don't live there, their so called security comes out and tells them to tame it down and they can stay! I pay rent for this, in my opinion and I'm checking with my attorney if this is a break in the lease! I want my deposit back and will find a place who follows their own rules. The staff has a lot to be desired you walk in and a maintence man is rubbing another employees shoulders and everyone is laughing and carrying on in their like it is a big party. 3. Doors are supposed to be locked so that people cant get in where the pool and bathrooms are that door is never locked. Why don't they make the pool and that door card access like the computer room that could help. It is very disturbing to watch people put their hand through the gate and get into the pool. I have never witnessed the actions of the staff like I have here. When you are coming in they preach this and that to get you in here and then it's all a big joke. 4. The security is a joke you see him in the office feet up on the desk chewing tobacco and spit cup on the desk and surfing the internet. I've never seen a more unproffessional group of individuals supposedly running a complex in my life! Now looking for who the owner is my top priority.
