So far, so good.
Just recently moved in and it's been good (so far). I've yet to find anything to really complain about it. I expected the model apt to have a better appearance than the actual apts did. It's what a lot of places tend to do to lure people in. Yes, it sucks, but the apt that they gave me is still fairly nice (decent price as well). Although the cabinets and some of the utilities look old, they work just fine. The walls are quite thin, I can hear pretty much everything outside. It's a good thing it's fairly quiet around my apt, though. I've searched all around Denton (nearest to UNT/TWU) for apts and so far, this place was one of the cheaper ones from my school. Not to mention one of the nicer looking ones, with less noise. My neighbors are wonderful people (always a plus). I take into consideration the environment and the type of people living in it (as well as the price, of course). Now that I think about it, my only real complaint would be the private cable/internet company (you are required to pay for cable). One, I do not watch T.V., I'm usually occupied with studying or I watch specific things through the internet, but Timberlinks requires you to pay for cable, regardless. Two, the internet company is a joke, and super overpriced for the various speeds (MB) available. It would have been perfect if I could have chosen not to have the cable nor their mediocre internet provider. Since I haven't been here very long, I will come back and edit if anything comes up!

Scared from reviews, but a GOOD experience so far!
I just moved in less than a month ago, and was scared after reading all the bad reviews. I did have a couple of billing issues, but they resolved them very quickly. I also had trouble with Primecast installation, but they came out and corrected the problem. It is very quiet here at night, which I love. Maintenance came and took care of some minor issues right away. So far, they have been wonderful and very responsive to take care of any needs I had. Parking is very easy and very close to my door. There is no one at the pool after 9pm as security makes sure everyone leaves, it's very safe here and well lit. I rented a 2 bedroom, and there are no bugs, no issues whatsoever. I recommend this property to anyone and I am an extremely picky person and quite demanding. The staff has been wonderful and very professional!! I'm not sure why so many people gave this property such bad reviews. I am pretty happy!

Enjoyed my time there
I really liked living at the Timberlinks. The manager is very helpful and courteous. The building I lived in was quiet and the golf course makes for great scenery. There was plenty of room for going on walks with my dog. The location is great! 5 minutes from the loop shopping area but removed enough that you feel like you are in the country.

Didn't know what they were doing. Stay away.
I lived in this apartment for about 5 months and then broke my lease and left. When we put down our deposit we had seen a beautiful model with vinyl wood flooring in the kitchen and bathroom and told that the majority of the units had this. We loved it! We put money down and then when it came time to sign the lease I asked to see the specific unit I would be living in before I signed the lease. They did NOT want to show it to. I told them I would not sign until I saw it so they showed it to me. It was a first floor unit and wheelchair accessible. However, to them "wheelchair accessible" also means horrible. There were no cabinets in the bathroom, stains ALL over the carpet, and the apartment itself smelled and was very dark. When I told them this was nothing like what I had seen previously they assured me all bathrooms lacked this cabinetry and had linoleum flooring. When I asked what units had the vinyl wood flooring, they told us none that only the model unit had it to make it look nicer. Hmm. Obviously, I demanded a new unit and they once again wanted me to sign a lease without seeing the new apartment. The new unit was brighter, had the regular cheap, apartment cabinetry and linoleum. When deciding I would accept this unit I signed my lease, and when we went back to move in we found mold in the bathroom cabinets and in the vent in the bathroom. When telling management about it, they responded with "We don't use the 'm' word," looked at the very obvious mold a insisted it was nothing. Finally they agreed to clean the vents. This is when the experience was good. The maintenance is excellent. When you call the maintenance line it send you to a calling center and that's no good, but the maintenance man is amazing and gives you his cell phone number. He is very efficient and always goes the extra mile. The apartment had a serious wasp problem and that was finally fixed by my husband who sprayed the nest outside on our stairs. They don't enforce the pet rules either (our neighbor had about 10 weasels or something running around his apartment). Lastly, when I had to break my lease because I became so ill, had to quit my job and my husband had to quit his to take care of me, they showed no sympathy and charged us all of these extra charges that were not disclosed to us when we originally said we had to break the lease. All in all a bad experience. Don't move here. They try to sell you a beautiful unit and promise a well maintained property, but it fails. The staff will basically tell you anything to get you to move in to. Very, very, very unprofessional.

lived here almost 2.5 years and love it
I have lived at the timberlinks two separate times. Moved away once only because it was closer to campus. The apartments are fairly priced compared to others in Denton and are very large. I have never had any problem with appliances. The only complaint I would have about the apartment is the Primecast cable and internet... but I have lived at several other apartments in Denton and I came back to the timberlinks.

Meh . . . .
I've been here about 5 months. The apartment units themselves are not too bad. Like most apartments, the fixtures, doors, cabinets are cheaply made. The walls and floors are thin. Having the washer and dryer provided is nice. Watch out for the "promotional items." It took me 3 1/2 months to get mine. The office staff seems to have quite a bit of turnover. Maintenance seems pretty good except for the time I caught them using one of my butter knives to work on the toilet. The worst thing is the cable company. Phone, internet and cable are outsourced to a third party company called Primecast. This company is an absolute joke. We had an outage where the entire complex was without service for about a week. Some people were out for 9 days (I was one of these) Primecast couldn't get their story straight to save their life. Even when their service is working, the television is mediocre at best. It got to the point a few months ago that it cut in and out so bad that it was unwatchable. If tv or internet is a high priority, I highly suggest going somewhere that lets you choose your own provider. Overall, I would say this place is not worth the extra $. Go somewhere is in town that is a little cheaper and lets you get your own cable provider.

If you really care about other's opinions...
Then please take the time to read this. After three years, I have seen management change every few months and new leasing agents every other week. Everything in the apartment is SO outdated. White carpet, cheap laminate tile and tiny refrigerators. I stayed as long as I did only because I had paid a ridiculous pet deposit fee ($350) and a regular deposit ($250), as well as a transfer fee for moving into a larger apartment ($250). Just two days ago, I recieved a $300 bill for a "deep clean" and small area of my roommate's CLOSET to be painted. I guess $850 just wasn't enough. There is a trailer park in walking distance of the complex, where tons of kids (supervised or not) come over and take over the pool throughout the summer. If you want to wait until the kids leave, then your outta luck since the pool closes at 9 p.m (they actually have a cop escort everyone out). If you're a student, this isn't a convenient place to live. You might as well find a place on campus, which will probably be much cheaper and convenient. Also, don't let your friends stay overnight or they'll tape a giant orange sticker on their car, which is pretty much impossible to tear off. There's only one person at that place who is helpful and has been there throughout my stay there - Curtis, one of the maintenence guys. Oh, and after a $350 pet deposit, there is a $25/month "pet rent." One more thing - don't watch your TV too loud or the neighbors may call the cops on you. This happened multiple times when I watched my television at a normal volume level in the living room. I went ahead and just started watching TV in my bedroom.

terrible
It took the leasing maintenance people well over two hours to come fix our door. If there had been a a fire we would have been hurt because we had no escape route. We called then three times to get someone to come out, and apparently he was at "lunch". In my idea thats a long lunch!!! They also are terrible at keeping the outside exterior of the aparments looking nice. You also pay money to use the amenities and they won't allow you to use them even when there is 30 minutes left before they close. I figured I paid money to live there then why can't I use the amenities till closing? They also have odd billing online and u end up getting notices on your door when it was there fault for not posting the full charges online for you to pay. Overall, its just terrible management and long lease agreements. If the service was good then I'd stay but overall its not worth it. I'd rather go pay extra money for good customer service. I can't wait to leave these apartments!

I Like It
I really like it here. Only leaving because I got a job in Georgia. The staff is awesome, quick to respond. Love Cedric, he's the best maintenance I have ever had in any apartment I lived in. Gym is great and never very many people there. I recommend you check it out if you are looking for a new place to live.

Overall a nice place to be...
I've been here for about 6 months and I have really liked these apartments. I came from a complex across town, and I have never looked back. I LOVE the maintenance guys, they are always very helpful and get my stuff done quickly. The grass has been tall around my building but that never lasts more than a few days, so I can't really say that I've had a big problem with it. OH and I LOVE the parties that they have had this summer because it's free food for me and my two best friends, haha! All in all, I like it here and plan to stay.

Pros: This apartment complex is very safe. There are no theft problems that I am aware of and the community is very nice. The grounds are kept fairly decent and the apartments themselves are nice. Cons: You can't choose who your cable/internet provider is. You are required to use who they have a contract with. The internet is overpriced and I am certain you can find a better deal for cable. In addition neither the apartment complex nor the cable/internet provider is good with keeping track their records. Two stories: 1. When you first start receiving your cable/ internet service, you may not receive a bill ever. I literally had to call in and request them to send me a bill. The same thing happened to my friend as well except he never called in. He received a bill three months later with all the previous months included. 2. The apartment complex is bad about keeping records as well. My original contract was set to expire in June 2010. I went into their office and asked what type of deal they could give me. The person I talked to informed me I could have $1200 off rent if I renewed my contract in March, which I did of course because its a great deal. He stated I would receive half the discount rent in July and half in August. In July I only paid 202 for rent and everything was fine. In August 1st I payed 202 again. On August 5th I received a notice slid in my door threatening to evict me for unpaid rent totaling $515 and I needed to pay the rent and move out by August 8th. I was pissed because they didn't pay attention to their own records and threatened to evict me without even checking first. The next day I went into the office and all they could say was oh sorry..... My rent is $809 per month.... This includes a $10 per pet charge you will be required to pay. In addition, you are required to place a $250 non- refundable deposit for your pet and a $250 pet deposit you may receive again. Oh and each additional pet will cost you $100 initially up front. The apartment complexes are nice; however, I would not recommend living here. The management is awful and everything is a little overprice.

spacious but AWFUL management
it's a nice complex that has spacious apartments but the managment is the absolute worse. i've lived there with my roommate for about a year now and they have only gotten our monthly bill correctly twice during our entire year here. the maintance staff is much more friendly than the office staff but only fixed things about half the time the other half the problems were ignored. at one point i had a problem so i spoke to the general manager and he said he would look into it and get back to me... he didn't get back to me at all and when i approached him again he had completely forgot who i was. at the same time i moved in so did three of my friends into different buildings and we all have the same complaints and are all moving our very disappointed. i have already steered other people away from living there and they are much happier for it. good luck to all of you potentional people looking for apartments and i hope you find somewhere with better management becuase they truely made living there a horrible ordeal.

"Staff" Infection
The employees in the leasing office are arrogant, uneducated, and lazy. Complaints rarely get a response, and if there is a response, it is never timely. The "exclusive" pool and facilities are basically public because the leasing office states "we can only randomly enforce rules, and we don't have the staff to monitor facilities". So come one, come all. Despite pool rules being outlined in the lease contract, and being posted at the pool, they are not enforced. Thus, anyone from the nearby trailerpark who drinks and smokes drops by to fight/play loud music/and let babies in diapers in the pool. It is disgusting. Service requests rarely get done. There is trash and dog poop EVERYWHERE. If you have an inoperable vehicle, drop it off here. It won't get towed, and you can leave it indefinitely. These new trends in service started occuring in the past few months. It wasn't always like this. There are still a few good employees here. Leah in the leasing office is helpful and attentive, the Pro Shop employees do their jobs, the Maintenance/Service guys are TERRIFIC, but I don't think any concerns ever get passed on to them. This place would be AWESOME if STAFF ENFORCED EXISTING POLICIES. Sadly, staff in the leasing office choose to sit around all day doing nothing... with attitude.

Run Away!
Sadly, this place used to be pretty nice. Ever since Lynd bought this property, it has gone downhill steadily. They don't take care of the grounds that you won't see on a tour. They didn't mow behind my apartment once last summer and the weeds were up to my knees. You wouldn't see that on a tour, though, so I guess they figured it was ok. Only residents would have to see. They don't fix things quickly. They let dog owners "walk" their dogs all over the grounds and no one EVER cleans up after their dog, so it's a minefield.

SUPER LOUD
I live in the bottom floor and my upstairs neighbors CONSTANTLY sound like they're about to come through my roof. I can hear every footstep, every conversation, everything that they do. SO annoying and the management won't even ask them to be quiet despite the fact that their activities shake my walls and rattle my windows. Don't live here.

Did anyone get their deposit back?
I moved out in July. I cleaned the apartment fairly well. I had a $400 Pet deposit and the regulare deposit, I think it was $250. I just got a bill from Timberlinks saying I owed them $50 for Patching? whatever that is???? The bill did not say what else was wrong with apartment, that cost the total deposit plus me having to pay an additional $50. Has anyone else had a problem with the deposit...I have gotten back at least 50% of my deposit from every other apartment I have lived at...

Why do I have to call Jamaica to get my AC fixed?!
My AC keeps breaking down because it's too small to adequately cool my apartment. Instead of handling maintenance requests directly, the people in the front office will tell you that you have to call the Lynd Company's 800 number and talk to a customer service rep in Jamaica if you want to get anything fixed. It's like they go out of their way here to make everything 10 times more complicated than it needs to be.

Basically get over it......
Okay, if this site would let me I would gladly give out my name, but it won't let me...I lived at the Timber Links for 2 years and I can honestly say I wouldn't have left if it wasn't for the fact that we needed a 3 bedroom...Now honestly when they switched management companies it was a big mess...But it is one of those things that is to be expected when something changes management...Changes happen, that is what makes the world go round...We were paying 120 dollars for cable there and now that I have moved out I am paying 140...so see they are cheaper...Primecast, God yes it sucks...but that isn't the Timber Links fault...it just ridiculous that anyone can expect, everything to be perfect...Now about the golfing...i never used the golf course so I could really care less they started charging...but anywhere else you live they charge for that stuff too...and 50 dollars a year? really?? that is super cheap for golf...most places charge you 50 dollars for one round...so stop complaining...now about the office staff...i never had ANY issues with them...they have been nothing but nice to me...and were always willing to work with me...and the maintenance crew was amazing ESPECIALLY Cedric...he was always there and willing to fix anything we needed, and always knew what he was doing..so in my opinion i would totally recommend living at the Timber Links...and i have to two friends who live there now and have no issues...nothing is ever perfect and people are going to find reasons to complain...but get over it and realize you have a nice apartment to live in and a roof over your head where a lot of people would love to...so again GET OVER IT...

Beware---HORRIBLE Apt Mgmt!!!
Hello-- I just moved from The Timberlinks at Denton and it's the BEST decision I've ever made. When I first moved in, I really liked it (this was 4 YEARS ago, though). We were under Lindsey Mgmt. Well, last August LYND took over and every resident who lived there (or lives there still) has had their lives change for the worst! When I first moved in, we didn't pay for cable, golf, pest control or the renting of washer/dryers! In Aug of '08, that all changed! Residents now pay for all of the above. One of the worst things is that if you want TV reception of any kind, you must pay $45 to The Timberlinks/month! Then of course, you have to pay PrimeCast for Direct TV. I think Verizon take care of internet--which you pay, of course. Verizon gives you 3 option plans. The thing is if you live anywhere else, Direct TV has a special of $29.99/month so why couldn't we get that deal??? Oh, and internet prices went up by $15/month or so even for basic service (that's according to my neighbor there---I never had internet there). If you want to play golf, you pay an extra $50/month! It used to be free for residents...a PERK! Let me tell you, LYND doesn't believe in perks for the residents!! Oh, and might I add that when I first moved in, I paid $650/month for my 2 BR/1 Bath apt and now the rent is $850 for that floorplan and I was told by a former neighbor it's going up another $25!!!! RIP OFF!!! One thing that happened to me was appauling. I had a 19 yr old college guy that lived above me and partied ALL the time! I am a 30 yr old nurse and I work in Plano so I have to get up at 5am and leave by 5:30am to get to work. I also work with babies who fight for their lives in the NICU as well as Newborns! He wouldn't even go to bed 'til 4 a.m. and he would be blaring his TV and/or stereo. I confronted him multiple times about this (in the middle of the night) and eventually the apt complex told me I had to start calling the Denton PD. So, I did just that. I have a record in which I called them (Denton PD) 8 times and our "security officers" 8 times as well! I have times/dates documented and I showed this to the mgmt b/c supposedly there is a "3 strikes you're out" policy but that's BS!!! Everyone in my building had their lives ruined for a year by this kid and nobody did anything. Then when LYND took over, I was told, "Oh, well now the procedure has to start all over and he gets ANOTHER 3 chances." My jaw still hurts from it dropping to the floor that day---I couldn't believe what they were telling me! It's sad that I know his move in date was Oct 5, 2007 b/c that's when my life became hell. Who ever knows a neighbors move in date (let alone thier own move in date? LOL). Also, about their "security officers", I was told by the "answering service" (which sux too, we'll get to that later), that the officers are employed by Denton PD and they're often not on the grounds b/c the DPD is short staffed and they're often called to work!!!!! I feel like that's a scam to present the idea of "on site security officers" when nobody is every there--except when they're sleeping after their shifts! Don't be fooled! As I mentioned above, The Timberlinks has a 1-800 # that you have to call to report any repairs, issues, questions/concerns, etc. It's VERY RARE that you can actually get through to the office. They usually have the phones forwarded. You can usually always find the office workers in the office doing nothing after you've tried to reach them via the phone. I know b/c I would call and be told nobody is available in the office and then walk out my door, be there in 30 secs and there would be people just hanging out and talking! Lazy, lazy and RUDE staff! Every person I have ever known to live there always talks about how rude the staff are there, particularly Leah (although I never had a prob with her personally). I've read that people have had probs with how thin the walls are and that's very true (see my story about the loud neighbor above). I will say that my electric bill was very cheap there but I'm super careful with my electicity use! :) I knew that I couldn't have such a horrible experience at an apt complex and NOT post anything. I usually live in place for a long time once I'm settled. I don't have issues with people and don't gripe about picky little things. However, if I can save one person from moving there, then I've done my job. Please, please, please, don't be taken in by how pretty the model apt's are and the ammenities.....your life will be HELL if you live there. Many petitions circulated when I lived there over the last year (since LYND's take over). It's not worth the stress of all that. Blessings as you try to find a new place to live!

PLEASE!! Beware....
You should know before reenting that: If you have a problem w/ your apartment: 1) You Must contact a toll free number managed by the Lynd company to initiate repair. No longer can you contact the management at the office. I have tried, they curtly respond to call the toll free number. i.e. they do not care. 2) Units are poorly insulated. Plan on 25-75% increase in necessary utilities, e.g. electricity. 3) Lynd has convienently "arranged" to scam you for a MANDATORY 45 dollar fee for cable services. This is in addition to the cable fee you will pay to PRIMECAST who has additionally poor customer service reports. So.. to get internet YOU have to pay LYND 45 per month. Then, Primecast 50-75 per month, then DIRECTV 20-27 per month. Assuming you would like HD capability. Yes, we are talking 120-145 per month for cable/tv and telephone. Which used to cost ONLY 65 per month under the previous owner. 4) Bottom Line: Lynd 20's and 50's you to DEATH AND POVERTY. They do not care about you. Period. Office staff DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU!! You are a mere annoiance to them. However, I must say that Janet the manager was pleasant. The peebs... TRASH: Only Don't waste your time. Good luck, and hope you can find a place to live where you are NOT a cash COW for the corporation, i.e. LYND.

I hope you have a car alarm.
Car break-ins have been an ongoing problem here. Part of this is because some areas of the parking lot aren't very well lit at night and because we don't have a gate or anything to deter people from outside from coming in any time they feel like it.

DO NOT RENT HERE
The staff is extremely rude and not helpful in anyway shape or form. Many days they sit outside cussing and yelling at one another. You can never get a hold of anyone to report a problem, and when you leave a message, they NEVER call you back. They are always too busy to help you or treat you with any type of respect. My guess is because they are trying to handle all of the complaints that are pouring in!!! Cars have been broken into, the smell of the landfill is overwhelming, and trash is everywhere. They are way more worried about the damn golf course to worry anything about the actual apartments. They try to double charge the residence for cable which is SUPPOSED to be free... and forget about trying to get anything fixed, like the bug infestation. The pool was always locked, including the hot-tub even when the hours posted said they were supposed to be open. The dryer provided would not dry our clothes, we had to dry everything twice making out bills outrageous, we would report the problem over and over, but it was NEVER fixed!!! Like I said before, DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!!!

COMPLETE INCOMPETENCE
I have read all reviews on this apartment complex, and could not agree more with all of the complaints listed. The office staff could not be more useless. Endless problems with billing issues, bugs, maintenance needing to be done, and quality (or rather lack of) with the only cable/internet option available to residents. Terrible.
