Nice for the price but someone needs to send the staff back to business school!

I have lived at the Timberlinks for almost 7 month now and I love it. Wait, I love it except for the staff that couldn't even manage a lemonade stand if they were given control of one. I have a 2 bedroom apartment and it is huge for the price we pay. Yes, it;s a 10 minute drive to campus but we are living in luxury here because we are able to afford some of the nicer things we want because we save on rent. There is always parking at our building and I couldn't be happier with the maintenance staff. Ced is always such a helpful guy and he tends to get things sone that day. If he can't he makes sure he let's you know with either a little note on your door or a phone call. He is the best.

    The New Cable And Internet Provider Sucks!

    This apartment complex recently switched to a new cable and internet service provider (Primecast) and their internet service is nowhere near as fast as advertised. The brochure from Primecast said that the Internet speed was supposed to be 10 mgps (or 10,000 kbps) for downloads and 2 mgps for uploads. My average download speed is more like 5000 kbps and my average upload speed is about 2500 kbps. Sure it's faster than the old service from Lindsey Communications, but their service was almost as slow as a dial-up connection. Another problem that I've had with Primecast is that the service is really unreliable and it cuts out all of the time. I've only had my cable and internet subscription for about a month now and I've lost my internet connection several times. Usually it comes back within a few minutes, but there have been three times where it's been out for several hours. Once, it was out for almost a whole day. I have called Primecast's customer service line repeatedly, but all they can do is tell me that their people were working on it and that someone will be out to fix the problem as soon as the next technician is available. I've had some issues with the cable too (for example, the TV freezes on certain channels for several minutes and then you end up missing a big chunk out of whatever show you were trying to watch). The worst part is that Primecast is the only service provider that residents are allowed to use at this apartment complex. If we could choose our own provider, we could get much faster and much more consistent service for a better price. I know this from experience because I've rented at other apartments in Denton before.

      Timber Links Stinks - Literally

      The Denton Municipal Landfill is right next door and when the wind blows just right, the stench is overpowering. The apartments look nice on the outside, but the interiors are made from the cheapest materials possible. You can hear the wind whistling in all of the cracks because the buildings are so poorly constructed. Some of the amenities are nice, but the Clubhouse's hours are inconvenient (especially since the new management company, the Lynd Company, has taken over) for most people. This is especially true if you work a normal 9-to-5 job. Also, even if you try to visit the Clubhouse during their regularly-scheduled business hours, the staff has a bad habit of leaving early. You'll find that the doors are locked and everyone has already gone home for the day. Several other reviewers have already mentioned the billing problems (the $45 convenience fee, the fact that the water bills have gone up, the fact that renters are no longer able to golf for free etc.) and the other issues here. Living here is more trouble than it's worth and I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. Move here at your own risk - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

        If you're a UNT student, you can get free legal help to fight back against the Lynd Co.

        Several other Timberlinks residents have already visited the Student Legal Services office on campus to complain about their experiences with the Lynd Company. If you're unhappy about being double-billed for cable service or if you have been having any other problems with them, then go talk to the Student Legal Services office. Their lawyers will give you advice about what your options are. If you want to move out because of all of the recent problems here, then they can even help you break your lease without having to pay hundreds of dollars in fees. Talking to them will only take a few minutes of your time and it's free. Their office is located in room 322aa in the University Union.           Do you like bugs? I mean do you REALLY like bugs?

Whether you're a professional entomologist or just a garden-variety insectophile, then the Timber Links is simply the place to be! They have red bugs, green bugs, brown bugs and black bugs too - this place is a veritable United Nations of insect life. It's perfect if you've always dreamed of having your own special insectapalooza filled with a who's who of charming vermin in all shapes, sizes and colors. Americans spend millions of dollars per year to visit museums and zoos that feature these fascinating creepy crawlies - if you take up residence here, then you can have a whole patio full of wee beasties to gawk at for hours on end! Just think about how wonderful it will be! You will never be lonely - the day you move in, your apartment will come furnished with scads of 6 and 8-legged freewheeling, freeloading roommates who just can't wait to make your acquaintance (don't expect them to help you with the rent though...). As an added service, if you have trouble deciding how to spend your own money, then the good people at the Lynd Company will be more than happy to decide how to spend it for you through a never-ending parade of surprise fees and mysterious charges. Why, every day will be an exciting new adventure and you'll never know what kind of random bill they'll be scotch-taping on your door next! If this all sounds like a blast to you, then by all means, stop by the leasing office today and someone (assuming that they're not on break and that they aren't busily ignoring the current tenants...) will be simply elated to show you around!

            Lynd company will try and scam you

            They Lynd company as well as the Timberlink apartment complex has continually been inconsistant with information regarding billing. For example, our water bill was doubled one month due to a "change in service" and a mistake made, we were assured that the amount would be refunded the following month in reflection of a much lower water bill-that never happened. They appolagized, but never fixed the problem. Next, was the scam with the cable bill. To sum up a LONG story, Timberlinks is now double billing us for cable after sending out a letter that the cable would be free. We then received a follow up letter stating our rent would be going up a mandatory $45 regardless of if you even have cable, to cover the new contract they signed with Primecast. We are not paying Primecast a cable bill, as well as $45 to Timberlinks.......DOUBLE BILLING. The front office is of no help. They are not concerned in any way when you make a complaint, and the blame is consistantly shifted from one source to another. No one ever takes responsibily, and what is worse, the problem is never corrected or made right.

              Don't live here

              I'm not going to go into too much detail because i know there are tons of other complaints that will say the same thing. in a nut shell, ever since the Lynd company took ownership of this complex, everything has gone down the toilet. There is a legal issue going on right now and I hope it uncovers and i hope it works out to where i can legally break my lease because i want to move out AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

                Cable Television Contract is a Scam

                Residents of The Timberlinks at Denton have been scammed under a new cable TV contract! The apartment complex manager, Jeannie Lomelo, with The Lynd Company stated she made a mistake by communicating in writing on two different occasions that basic cable service with Prime Cast (Direct TV Satellite provider) would be free. Instead, The Lynd Company in now charging $45.00 per month for each apartment in addition to what Prime Cast is charging for services. The Lynd Company took over management of The Timberlinks at Denton on 4-01-08 from Lindsey Management. The Lynd Company disbursed notices on all resident doors that they would be changing TV cable service providers, and they outlined the different companies making proposals to include the cost of services for each. The residents voted on Direct TV provided through Prime Cast based on a pricing proposal that basic service would be free and residents would only pay Prime Cast for the premium services and special viewing packages. Residents previously paid $27.00 per month for the prior cable service that included as many outlets as you wanted. Once Timberlinks officially converted over to Prime Cast, The Lynd Company notified all residents that they had made a mistake and residents would be required to pay The Lynd Company $45.00 for basic service in addition to any charges paid directly to Prime Cast for premium services (DVR & HD) and special packages (movie, sports and special viewing programs). Under the new TV contract with Prime Cast, basic services only includes one TV outlet. If you want services to other outlets in your apartment, it cost an additional $21.00 per outlet for basic programming. In other words, what originally cost residents $27.00 for basic cable service, now cost $87.00 ($45 $21 $21) for a two bedroom apartment plus any charges for premium services or special TV packages paid directly to Prime Cast. Some residents are having to pay $150 per month for special packages. I only subscribe to basic service, and I am being charged $45.00 per month for one outlet in my living room, and I no longer have TV service to my bedroom outlets. I requested Jeannie Lomelo let me out of my lease contract since they changed the terms of my cable service without proper notice or without my approval, but she would not allow me to do so. I renewed my lease contract in August 2008 with the understanding that my basic TV services would be free. Not only is it not free, but I now would have to pay $87.00 per month just to have the same services I originally was paying $27.00 for. The Lynd Company will also not allow residents to contract independently for cable or satellite services. The entire apartment community is up in arms and management simply dismisses the problem as a mistake. The staff as a whole is good, but the property manager and management company is indifferent to resident issues.

                  Greedy scam artists!

                  Do NOT fall for the facade that the Lynd company put up here. They are now trying to scam all the residents out of $45 a month, that equals about $21,000 per month! This is supposibly for tv service (the first 150 channels) But really they are trying to raise rent without raising rent. They are lying about their contract with Primecast, and Primecast admits it. Primecast is sorry that they got involved with Lynd in the first place. They said that they have never had a company charge their customers an extra fee for THEIR services! What will they think of next? Don't come and find out! They are extremely rude, do not return calls, do not take care of anything except the clubhouse! Guess what..the only ones who see the clubhouse are the new people walking in! It is closed more that it is open. All the wonderful amenities you get here...you can't use but maybe 10% of the time if that. The list goes on and on...

                    This Company is a SCAM!

                    First of all, I moved in September and noticed I had a bump on my arm which later turned into a spider bite that swole bad. The bite caused me to seek medical attention and get all kinds of shots. Then I found a nest of spiders in our apartment and ordered them to get an exterminator over there, it took them awhile. By the way, this was all in September! My rent went up, I had to fight that over with new management that gave me $15 off. The girls in the front office do not COMMUNICATE so they never have any idea what is going on. They hired a new girl who told me all I needed to do to renew my lease was to sign this paper they put on everyone's door so I did, the next day the apartment manager called me and told me they were giving away my apartment! I was furious! SO they never know what is going on..DO NOT MOVE HERE! Bad company, bad management..and horrible INSECT problem! They worry about cathching people who shouldnt have dogs than worrying about major issues! Thanks LYND Company I appreciate everything you DO! P.S. There was even a time when this crazy guy put up a sign threatening to shoot people who went into his property...SAFE..REAL SAFE!

                      This company is a rip off!!!

                      Whatever you do, do not move here! It is one of the worst apartements ever. Their main goal is to take your money without telling you. First, they increased our rent about $60 and we have been living there for over a year. However, a new resident who just signed their lease this past summer are paying the amount we used to pay. Secondly, our electric and water bill have skyrocketed after the company change. Then, the method of payment is very inconvenient for residents. They don't take checks or cash and they charge over 20 dollars to use a credit card. So you have to go out of your way to get a money order to pay for the rent. They changed the cable company recently and we are forced to used this company. None of these changes were stated before we renewed our lease. They get you to sign the lease first then change everything so they can take our money. They are charging us 45 dollars a month for cable when we already pay the cable company. We haven't installed the cable and they were charging us this amount for no reason. When we asked about the charge they couldn't give us a straight answer. We are forced to use their choice of cable and internet companies when we can get better deals elsewhere. We are living in a communist society at these apartments. It's nice on the outside but crappy on the inside. The walls are so thin you can hear everything that is going on in your neighbor's apartment. The outside light in our building all of a sudden never works and maintenance never comes to fix it. So we are forced to use our own outside light from our own electricity.

                        We need to make a class action suit against this company

                        This is a true rip off company. I should have known from the start. I was to move in May 10th, they gave me the keys I went to apartment and there where people still living there (I could have been shot). Then when I moved in on June 1st the carpet had not been cleaned. The windows have problems locking. Golf we where told was free to residents before I signed the lease now they say we have to pay. Then we where told free basic cable came with the apartment now it is $45.00 for basic. I ask them how they can change this before the lease is up they said we told you that but it's not in the lease so we can do it. A verbal is binding if we all stick together and fight this we can win.The Management is terrible. Then I was told that even tho I only signed a 6 months lease that I have to give them 60 days notice (which my lease is up Nov.30th) I said no becaude then it is month to month and I will not sign another lease with this company.                           Expect to be Nickel and Dimed by Lynd

                          The apartments look nice from the outside, but on the inside, they are cheaply made. For example, the cabinets are made from the same kind of low-end wood laminate that you'd expect to see in a trailer park. The paint on the walls is also very low quality. The carpet is a pale beige or ivory color and we constantly have to shampoo it or else it shows every little spot. The walls are very thin, so expect to hear EVERYTHING that your neighbor does (especially if you live in a downstairs apartment). One of the things that had initially appealed to me about living at Timber Links is that the apartment complex is located next to a golf course. When I first started living here, the residents could play for free. Since Lynd Co. has taken over, they've started charging the residents here to play on our own golf course. There have been several other unexpected fees as well. After I had first moved in, my water bill was between $10-$20 per month. Now, the water bill is split between everybody in the apartment complex and my bill has gone up to over $35 per month. I believe that one of the reasons for this is because Lynd Co. wastes so much water. Some of the sprinkler heads look like they're broken but they continue to water with them anyway. More water ends up in the parking lot than ends up on the grass but the Lynd Co. people don't care because they aren't paying the bills we are. I think that they are also making the residents pay to water the golf course now too (which is really unfair if you think about it because we can no longer use the golf course for free like we could with the previous management company). In the past month, they've started charging everyone a monthly $45 'convenience fee' for having cable. We are already paying the cable company (Primecast) for service, so I don't understand how Lynd can justify double-billing everyone like this. There has also been talk of them charging $15 per vehicle per month just to park in our own parking lot. Understandably, there are quite a few residents here who are upset with Lynd right now because they keep dumping all of these costs on us and then they expect us to just happily pay for everything, no questions asked. Complaining to the office staff does absolutely no good - most of them have no idea what's going on or if they do have an answer for you, they'll all tell you something different. I haven't been able to get any answers from Lynd's regional manager either. Because of all of these billing issues and because of several other problems that I've had with this new this management company, I will not be renewing my lease. I can't wait to get as far away from these people as possible.

                          Do NOT do it!

                          They are terrible.Nice looking apartment, but manipulative staff. Good luck getting any of your deposit back, even if you leave the place cleaner than you got it (which was not very clean at all!) I am at the moment looking for a lawyer to help me get my deposit back. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE!

                            Horrible Horrible Place

                            I moved into Timberlinks in May, seemed nice enough at the time, the office help pretended to be friendly and they all told you a different thing. I remember when we went in to sign the lease the girl simply went behind a glass wall and her and the manager were just standing there looking at us, not doing anything productive, just standing there like our time was of no importance. Since I have moved in they have jumped the rent up twice. I currently pay $785 now (in a 2 bed 2 bath), but if we were to resign it would go up to $935!!! That is INSANE. We have ant problems and you can hear water running through the pipes at night, there are cracks in the wall from the foundation shifting and there are these huge dents on the door. The place isn't the worst I've seen, but its definitley not worth $935/m. Did I mention that you'd still get the joy of paying utilities even with this major price jump. My advice: DO NOT LIVE HERE! The staff is unfriendly and unhelpful, they talk in circles and noone has any idea what they're talking about. It's just horrible

                              Horrible-Don't Live here!

                              To make a long story short, my roommate needed to break the lease and I was going to move into a one bedroom. Judy told us that we could do it and not have to resign the lease and do the whole deposit thing again. Before I know it, I was locked into the whole situation, my roommate was out money and so was I just because Judy (the ------ manager) lied and went back on her word, but I should have gotten this in writing. My dishwasher leaked and didn't get hot enough and I complained about it, by refrigerator had a huge ugly dent in it and and made horrible noises and the ice wouldn't stay frozen it just got wet and all stuck together in the tray. My food didn't stay frozen either. They put the cheapest appliances that they could find in this place. My clothes always stunk, my boyfriend thought it was because of the washer but I think it was because the apartment stunk because of the person before me being a smoker. They're supposed to spray and do something to it but it just stunk, you can't get the stink of smoke out of anything. Also, my next door neighbor got mad at them because we lived on the side by the golf course and she was told they didn't clean the apt doors and porches of bugs, spider webs and whatnot because no one who didn't live there could see it, if you were driving by, you couldn't see it. So, our apts outside were just gross, we had dirt dobber nests and spider webs everywhere, it was nasty. We had ants like no other all in the bathroom and kitchen, I had to spray myself. There was also a ton of hairwig bugs, they're black bugs with pinchers, they're nasty. I ended up having to break my lease because I was relocating, they charged my 1487.50 and I had to give up my deposit. These butts had my apt for show before I even moved out, you know it wouldn't take 3 months to rent it out. Just ridiculous. They charge way too much and you get alot less. The only consolation is, these apartments are not made well at all, they will start looking horrible before too long. They weren't constructed well, they used pieces of plywood instead of a whole beam (my dad said something like that). Anyway, they'll fall down around their knees from the wear and tear. Anyway, I just wouldn't move there ever again. I did feel safe though, that's the only good thing.

                                Meh...

                                The first year I lived here was a nightmare simply because of my roommates. I never had a problem with maintenance, the grounds were always kept very well, and noise was never really an issue. The property is under new management now and it is a joke. The lady with short hair in the office is the -----. Don't deal with her because she will lie to you to get you out of the office so she can get back on the phone with her friends. They jacked up the price of our building, and they used the extra money to remodel the front office. Some new appliances that aren't a fire hazard or a refrigerator that holds more than a gallon of milk would be great. The spiders and ants should pay rent here. My sister's car got broken into, as well as two of my neighbors IN BROAD DAYLIGHT, and the complex did nothing to try to prevent this in the future. I am ready to move out.

                                  I love my apartment

                                  I really don't understand all these bad reviews. I love my apartment. I have lived in a lot of apartments and this one has been the best by far. Sure, there was a little confusion when the new managment took over, but it they seem to have it all together now. The apartment itself is great. It is well insulated and the only time I can hear the neighbors is if they standing right by the windows on the patio. Overall it is a quiet, beautiful complex and is a very good value.

                                    We broke our lease because for some reason they could not rid the ants from our apartment. They quote 'What do you expect when you live on a golf course?' How about After spray, spray and spray and us practically packing up the place for them to spray enough was enough. They were tired of me on them everyday about the problem with no solution so we decided to terminate the lease. They gave us a day and a half to have the keys to them and the apartment cleaned up- just crazy. We packed all of that night and we were out in a day. Everyone who works for this company is just their for their paycheck and not for the sake of the residents. If your job is that bad, move on! They then take continue to take out the rent for the apartment over a month after we moved out. The main office is no helpful then the leasing office. Just for the sake of your sanity- don't move here. Bad help, bad management- just don't get involved. Also, all that they care about is the golf course and never actually take care of your flower beds.

                                      I just wanted to sincerely thank everyone for saving me, i was an inch away from signing a lease here at the timberlinks and my mother got online, showed me these reviews and you guys totally turned me around. i loved the apartments but they're obviously fooling people because i wouldnt be able to handle these problems. I now have a wonderful apartment at the fountains!! so THANK YOU!! :-)

                                        Identity theft is a possibility

                                        i loved these apartments when it was owned by Lindsey what not now its owned by Lynd. Me and my roommate had little things that happened with the apartment like leaky toilets and spider problems and so on and it was fixed right away. The amenities are great and its nice to have a washer and dryer. My problems all come down to new management. Back in april we first hear that we have a new apartment when we are given notice that own deposit has been transfered to a new bank. Then with in the week we are told that our cable and internet is changing as well as a rent increase. well the increase made me have to move cause it was out of my budget, which is fine and it happens all the time. I took me almost a month to get a straight answer of what i needed to do in providing notice that i was leaving and that my roommate was staying. It was hard to have anyone in that office to give you the time of day but i did eventually get an answer when i slapped on a "i am so friggin pissed" face. later that week me and my roomates "renewal" lease is slapped on our door. they took our old lease and auto filled it with all our private information and just shoved it in the door leaving it up for grabs. along with it a new water bill that we had no idea we were getting. There was no notice that there was a change and the bill would be more expensive. every time i would go up there to ask more questions about our new management the office would be closed. every other week the office hours seemed to change so i had no idea what was going on. So i finally move out in june and today i found out that they took rent out of my bank account, made me overdraft and every other bill that went through after it overdrafted so i was in the red and my overdraft protection on my credit card made me max my card. Also my roommate had a similar problem i think 4 months ago and she still doesn't have her money. So today when i (the only one there in the office) stood there for 15 20 minutes and watched the manager in her office (its glass so dur i can see you) completely ignore me and kept gabbing with her employee. finaly they told me that I had to do this and that and what not to fix their mistake. I also don't get my part of the deposit back even though i wrote a separate check just because my roommate is still living there. there excuse today like it was 4 or 5 months ago was... "well we have new management and blah blah blah" well i'm sorry thats effing --------. they are soooo freaking lucky that i didn't follow through with a lawsuit about having my information slapped on my front door exposed for anyone that wanted to be me. oh yeah and hearing my neighbors talk, pee, open and close doors, having sex was an absolute joy..not.. although it did turn into a game for me and my roommate. "i bet they are watching.. transformer! i love that movie. holy crap that person has peed way to much they need to back up the movie. hey they forgot to close their laundry doors. woops"

                                          These apartments are TERRIBLE!

                                          As everyone else has already stated, the management here is terrible and the apartments are very cheaply built. We have been in 2 different apartments at this community and in both of them we have had to smell everything that our neighbors cook or do. The first apartment smelled so bad that we had to fight with management and the up and up to get into a new apt. Now the current apt, that we are so glad that the lease expires now, we can smell smoke all day long because our next door neighbor smokes like a freight train and that is all we smell every day. It is downright awful, especially is smoke bothers you. I have nothing else to say except I am ecstatic that we are moving out this weekend and I am sure we will not get any deposit back even though we did not tear anything up. DO NOT LIVE HERE! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

                                            Horrible

                                            Stay away from these apartment and any owned by the corporate office. They will nickle and dime you to death when you leave. Don't worry about cleaning your apartment when you leave, you will not get your security deposit back period. $125 comes off immediately for cleaning and they will find enough problems (i.e. toilet seat needs replacing, scratch on doorknob, etc.) to justify keeping to remaining security deposit. They obviously know that most prior tenant will not take the time to dispute a bunch of little charges. The maintenance guy is very nice but it will take time to get service. As these apartments are by far the cheapest I have ever lived in, the maintenance guy is busy. You will hear everything your neighbor does.

                                              new management company is horrible

                                              Everything was great about this community until a new management company took over, Lynd Management. They closed the office on the sundays and sometimes they are open on saturday sometimes they are not. (They have three sheets of paper in a sheet protector on the door, each has different hours.) And when they do open on saturdays they close 45 minutues before the time says they close. Haven't picked up the phone the last 3 days I called, and got a new water company that raised everyones water bill. Our water bill is now $30 more a month, when they told us rates would not change. They now take EVERYONES water usage and divide up based on the number of people in our unit and the SF instead of the actual amount you use. So watch out. if you have two people in a 1000 SF apartment it's going to cost more than two people in an 800 SF apartment. strange. I'm glad we are moving out of here. I think they are raising the rents too.

                                                So far so good...

                                                I moved in, in august and honestly, so far I love it. We have nothing but good things to say about the office staff, they have been nice to us. The only thing I could say is that the walls are a little thin, but that is apartment life for ya. No place you live is going to be perfect but we couldn't wait to move in here and like I said so far we love it. Try going to Campus Park and then come here, you would love it to.
