I am a former resident of Star Ranch and while I llived there I was very happy with the community, however it has seriously taken a turn for the worst. The current management company is a waste of space. I have requested my rental history and even though I lived in the community (in amazing standing) for 2 1/2 years they say that they have no record of this and are unwilling to aid. I have taken this matter to the management headquarters and they are alike in saying that they will not look for my files, because they are in a box. Do not mover here under Bassham Properties.

    First of all..do not be fooled by the old name. This is no longer an Alexan property. It has been taken over by some company for the 3rd time in 2 years that is not of the professional appearance. Tonight 4/30 the dumpster was overflowing. The outside walk in space of the dumpster was halfway full of all of the trash bags the nightly service picks up door to door from Tues and trash spilling out onto the sidewalk. I suspect they haven't paid the refuse bill. The grounds in front of the office are neatly manicured to lure people in. Behind the gates...starting to look bad. And no show from the new ripoff lawn company they hired, this week. Should be here twice a week. Whatever they are paying this new company, they are paying way too much and we the residents are paying for this garbage. They fired the other company as did they on the maintenance staff. I overheard one of those conversations when I was in the office that day and finally figured it out when I saw what a bad incomplete and unprofessional job they did. We are screwed and I just signed a lease. May need to break it if we turn into a getto complex. It is ruined until we get a better professional management company.         Nice and quiet place to live!

        I have lived here for the past year and have had a great experience. The community has been very quiet which is hard to find. I have loved it! Also, I have never had any major issues as far as maintenance goes. Any maintenance orders I did have were taken care of immediately. The maintenance man is very nice and followed up with everything. The office staff is also very friendly and helpful. Great customer service! I loved the location and the views as well. I highly recommend this property!

          Maintenance requests

          The lead maintenance person (GT), has consistently responded in a timely and courteous manner to requests for repairs and preventative maintenance. Examples of repairs include the toilet flushing mechanism, water leakage from a walk-in shower stall, and an interior door latch. Preventative maintenance included adjusting exterior door clearances to minimize drafts, and insulating the hot water heater to reduce operating time during cold weather periods. All work was completed with a level of quality that required no follow-up action, and which resulted in substantial cost savings with regard to electric consumption. Based on my experience, this individual should be recognized for his commitment and professionalism in providing resident services.

            I think it is very funny that 3 positive reviews have shown up in the past 2 days and almost all the ones posted previously were very negative. I'm getting the feeling that the leasing management is doctoring some fake reviews and posting them to get their rating up. I lived here in the past and there definitely were dog poop and trash problems. Take these reviews with a grain of salt.

              I love my Home!

              From the first visit to Alexan Star Ranch, I felt like I was "home." I was shown a beautiful model apartment and moved in not long after. The staff is amazing here! From making sure I got the exact apartment to fit my needs, to offering to help me move in because I was new to Texas, they have gone out of their way to keep me comfortable. The maintenance crew keeps the area beautiful and responds very quickly to any problems, no matter how small. As a single female living far away from my family, knowing that someone is always available to help is very comforting. I feel very safe here; the property is secure and the gates stay locked, the parking lot is well lit and has plenty of parking next to each building, and I have wonderful neighbors who are very friendly and courteous. Alexan Star Ranch is very dog friendly and the residents take pride in keeping the apartment grounds clean. I love that every time I drive through the gates I feel like I'm "home."

                Great place

                I don't get a lot of the rating some people have written on here, some of them are out right lies. I've never seen trash anywhere on the grounds and they even have pet waste bags for cleaning up after your animals. The only things I can think of that aren't great are having to pay for the valet trash since it's half my total water bill but I've never spent more than like $45 a month for my water/trash bill. The other issue would just be distance if you work in Austin but the price is right so I'll take the extra 200 sq. ft. I get here. Staff have been very nice and hold any packages I have shipped here. The work out area is nice, a little bit small but always clean and well maintained. Overall a nice place to live.

                  Like residing in heaven

                  I have been living at Star Ranch for a little over 2 years (since they 1st opened in 2009)and if it wasnt for my job transfer to Dallas I would still be there! Let me tell you... I have lived here longer than anybody else has and it is NOT what people are saying at all! The apts are WAY nicer than the one I'm in now. Cherry wood cabinets, black appliances, brushed nickel.How fast maintence responded to my needs and how helpful the office staff was.... I really miss the little stuff that most people dopn't realize when getting into a new lease. Recently with the new faces they have been doing some really great things with the property for the residents. I was honestly sad to go. They always helped me with any problems or corncerns I had. I really miss that compared to where I am now. Thats why I was just wanting to take the time to fill this out as quickly as possible to help anyone who is looking. I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone who is apartment shopping in th Austin area.

                    Dont move here!!!!

                    I moved here this year in the summer everything was fine at 1st. I went on a tour everything was nice Until i moved in the unit im in now its very LOUD and to top it off the manager Ivonne shouldnt be a property manager it takes her forever to call back and if you try to call her shes never available the ladies in the office say she will call back but she never does. I had to call her everyday during the week to let her know about the noise in the building. She rush you when you are talking to her. The maintenance crew is horrible as well i requested pest control for spiders and one of the ladies in the office said someone will be out the next day no one showed. I had a leak from my sink the maintenance guy didnt handle the problem the 1st time he came out he did a half --- job and had to come back a 2nd time i was so pissed off at that point because the leak got worst within a few hours.They dont keep the property clean like they should since i been here and the valet trash cost a month is crazy it goes up every month what a joke they dont even pick up the trash on fridays or saturdays when you need it the most. The water bill is over $70 dollars a month i wasnt even paying that in a 4 bedroom house. Please think long and hard before you move in its not worth it. I wish i would of looked at the reviews before i moved in.I cant wait til my lease is up.

                      Run away Fast!

                      I came to the apartment because I needed something quick and safe. I was greatly impressed with the tour and so were my kids. They loved all of the "perks" of living in the apartment. However, that quickly turned out to be a smoke screen. The outside grill has not worked in over a year, and it has not been cleaned in about just as long. The gym stinks and not just of sweat, it stinks of the sewages smell from the bathroon next door. The club house is only available during working hours and if you would like to rent it for a meeting you must jump through a ton of red tape. Valet trash pick up.. ha! what a joke. They do pick up the trash but you can see the trail of trash from your building all the way to the dumpster. And don't think of taking our your own trash on on pick up days, you can't even get close to throw away your trash as you wade through the mountains of trash and furniture that is being trhown away. Don't forget about the water bill. I have lived in a house and NEVER paid more than $50 for water a month, but here you are guaranteed to pay at least $80 or MORE! The icing on the cake.. The managment team. There is a new manager Evonne. Talking to her is like talking to a brick wall. Let caution be your guide!

                        Horrible Management!

                        When I first moved in things were fine and dandy, but they have gone down hill and fast. This place has gone through 3 management teams and they still haven't gotten it right. The new property manager Evonne is the WORST. Having a conversation with her is next to impossible, she tries to rush you off the phone and talk over you, REALLY?!?!? It seems like nobody in the office knows anything, Getting a hold of the courtesy officer after-hours takes an act of congress, good luck with that. If somebody is parked under YOUR covered parking spot you can't have them towed!!! So basically you are paying each month for somebody else to have to luxury of covered parking. This place is ridiculous, rent here if you want to but it will be the worst mistake you ever make!

                          disapointed

                          I was really excited to move into this complex after touring. My husband and I came back the next day to place a deposit and get the application process started. Even that was a nightmare and we should have turned and ran then. Because I recently started a new job, the leasing agent (now assistant manager) would not accept the wages stated in a certified letter by my employer (which is what is required by the leasing office if you are a new employee with no check stubs.) She also would not consider my husband's income claiming it was not a valid employer or something. So even though we were a married couple with more than enough proof of income to pay for a one bedroom apartment, she asked that we get a co-signer. My husband wanted to end the application process then but I really loved the brand new "nice looking" apartments so we got a co-signer. We went back again (at this point it has taken over a week) and our original leasing agent was on break. Her supervisor said she would help us so we sat down at her desk. When we pulled out the stacks of papers (bank statements, tax info, co-signer's info etc...) she asked what it was all for. She looked over it and said in no way did we need a co-signer... She entered our info into her computer and we were approved instantly. So what should have taken about 5 min the first day took a week. Not a great start. We lived on the third floor so we figured our unit would be quiet. Wrong. The exterior walls are so thin, you can hear every step anyone makes on the staircase but I guess you get that at any apt complex. The valet trash service is really nice and we have never had problems with it. However, on the two days (friday and saturday)they don't pick up, the area around the trash compactor is overflowing with garbage bags, old furniture, boxes and other random junk... you can't even get within 20 feet of the actual dumpster. The complex has nice amenities as long as they're actually working. I don't think the fire pit has worked since I've lived here and just recently, they cut off the gas lines to the grills. We read before moving in that the water bills were a little crazy but never in my life did I expect to be paying a $70 water bill for a one bedroom apt. The more people who move out due to poor management, the higher the water bill gets for the remaining tenants. There was a fire in our building one afternoon and we had to evacuate. A unit on the third floor caught on fire because a cooler on the balcony exploded. If that's not suspicious, I don't know what is. It was hours before we were allowed back into the building. Even though that unit was only 2 doors down from us, no one was ever given any kind of explanation, compensation, or apology... All they did was place flyers on everyone's doors promoting fire safety. That unit has never been cleaned up. there are black smoke stains all over the exterior wall and the window screen is busted. It is very much an eye sore. The last problem we faced was turning in our move-out notice. We were out of town on the first of the month when it was due so we turned it in on the 4th when we got back. They said because it was not exactly 60 days, our move-out date could not be the first. They would pro rate our rent based on the month-to-month price and we would move out on the 4th. Fine. However, on the morning of the 2nd I was woken up by a knock on the door... It was the head of maintenance checking to see if we were moved out yet. I would have happily been out on the first had I not received a note on our door a few weeks prior clearly stating our move out date as the 4th. After discussing this issue with the assistant manager, she adjusted our pro-rated rent down from the month-to-month rate to our current rate. We completed our move out on the 2nd to ease the confusion. I was pleased with her efforts to resolve that issue and finally feel like we are leaving on a good note.

                            Beautiful Property

                            I have lived at Alexan Star Ranch for almost a year now. I have always been greeted courteously by all of the staff, whether it be in the office or the maintenance staff. The leasing agent that put my lease together remembers my name and what apartment I live in which really impressed me. They come and change your lightbulbs here when they go out. I change my own accept for the garage and the kitchen since I don't have a ladder. Whenever I have put in a work request they have been in the very next day to take care of it. I enjoy living here. It is quiet and my teenage son wouldn't live anywhere else. He tells me that the grounds make him feel like he is always relaxed and on vacation.

                              Alexan is GREAT!

                              I've lived here since February 2010 and have found it to be a really wonderful living experience. My apartment is absolutely lovely. Well constructed with upgraded fixtures and appliances. I've been treated very well by the office staff, and the courtesy officer. Yes, I've had to call the courtesy officer because of inconsiderate neighbors, but the problem has been resolved and life goes on. Any problems I've had here have been due to people who don't know how to live in multi-family communities. The lady who walks her dog and looks in windows is somewhat disabled and harmless. She's very sweet and likes to make friends. Dog poop is an issue, but that's due to inconsiderate and irresponsible tenants, not the management. If the management is contacted, they will send out reminders to tenants to be mindful of picking up after their animals. If the management doesn't know who violates the rules, they're not really able to do much about it. Communicating with management is the only way bad situations are turned around. As to parties, reasonable parties are certainly allowed. My family often gathers at the pool and grill area for parties without objection. There is a reasonable objection to 20 or 30 young people gathering there for drinking and rowdy partying where tenants and their families are expecting to comfortably and safely enjoy themselves. If you want rowdy parties, live down by The University or party on 6th street. Attempting to host loud, raucous parties in an area intended for comfortable, gracious living will only be disappointing to you and your neighbors. When choosing an apartment, you have to consider your lifestyle as compared to the lifestyle intended for the community.

                                Wasted my time

                                I was recommended to take a look at these apartments since they were close to work. I researched online the night before I went and was impressed with the rates I saw online. I could hardly wait to go visit because the website and amenities listed on the website looked nice. When I got to the property to take a tour, I was informed they had no apartments to show, the rates were much higher than what was listed on the internet, and the staff didn't even take the time of day to try and interest me. I was told the reason the prices were lower on the website was because they were short staffed and didn't have time to update the site. I found out that these apartments are ran by Riverstone Management. I have lived with this management company before and it was a complete wreck! They didn't even type my lease up correctly. This was a big red flag for me. The apartments I lived in previously actually hired on a completely different management company while I was there and everything completely changed for the better. I am disappointed terribly with my experience at these apartments and truly hope that Alexan will be able to change things for the better soon!! I would love to come back and take a look again when the office staff is more organized and cares a little about people who are interested in touring.

                                  I did the tour, saw the nicest unit and filled out the paper and gave them $100 money order. I even told them my credit wasnt that great but im more than capable to pay thier rent. Oh yeah they have a $20 a month concierge garbage pick up charge. How stupid is that? After being denied they asked me to bring in another check/money order for $50 then they will refund me $50 with a mailed check. WTF is that? They also wanted to give me back my money order -which you cant return and get your money back. So be careful renting there. LOTS of nickel and dime charges.

                                    Not Very Happy

                                    I've lived here for a few months now. I like to think I am low-maintenance, but it seems like getting anything done here is really tough. The concrete floor outside the doors on my hallway has all kinds of goopy bubble-gum glops on it. Hard to believe the building is little more than a year old. Valet trash is mandatory. There is no dumpster. The valet trash pick-up person is not very nice and won't always take the trash away. So you might have old garbage on your hands for a few days. The maintenance hotline (I have a door that sticks) is staffed by a condescending, overworked rude girl. I called in one maintenance request and no one ever called me back or came to fix it. That was a month ago. There are snakes everywhere here, too. There was a rattlesnake at the bottom of our stairs one time. The location is ok. There is Target, Randalls, HEB, and WalMart nearby. Looks like they recently had a major overhaul of staff in the front office. I don't recognize anyone who works in the office anymore. The grounds are pretty (this place is on a golf course) and the pool is pretty. The interiors of the apartments are updated and clean.

                                      Just Say No to Alexan at Star Ranch

                                      Well I should have known this Apartment was going to be a bad idea the minute all the wrong information kept being given to me. We can not wait until our lease is up in the next couple of months. We will definately be moving out. First off, the gate is ALWAYS broke, secondly people do not pick up after their animals. Which I can sometimes say that is simply because they do not keep the doggy stations full. It will be out for more then a week, by then more and more poop appears on the grounds. Thirdly, is the water bill. Our water bill for a unit of two is outrageous. I didn't even pay this much in our previous 3 bedroon 2 bath house. We didn't receive a bill for over a month and then receive them back to back within a weeks time. That to me is not right. I also have to mention how I have witness someone putting their dog in the pool. Disgusting. Alot of rules that are constantly sent out as a reminders aren't even followed by the staff, in my opinion. If you ever try and use the business center, be prepared to wait behind unsupervised kids playing on the computer. The walls are so thin and you can hear the pipes dripping in the wall anytime the shower, washer, dishwasher, or any faucet is running. There is only one trash compactor on the entire grounds and is not well kept. It smells so bad!!!

                                        Just say "NO" to Alexan Star Ranch

                                        We cannot wait until our lease is up. This looks like a beautiful place to live from the outside, but trust me, once you live hear for a few months you will regret it. Like everyone else has said, the utilities are outrageous. When I moved in to my apartment in Sep 2009, I was told the trash would cost $10 monthly. Obviously the person from the office that told me this, didn't know what they were talking about. It started out at about $16 in Sep 2009 and now in Apr 2010 it is $22. Never have received a regular monthly water bill. Usually go a month without one and then receive 2 within a week. They never give out lease violations, because if they did there wouldn't be dog crap all over stinking up the grounds. I've watched people walk dogs right out in front of my apartment and never pick up after them. If you complain about the dog crap, they send out a blanket flier but nobody cares because management doesn't do anything about it anyway. Don't bother complaining about the noise, because it will take days before anyone gets back in contact with you. If you have children, definitely don't move here. People drive through the parking lot like they are on the highway. I'm surprised no one has been hit and killed as fast as some people drive through here. DON'T MAKE ALEXAN STAR RANCH YOUR HOME!! You will regret it unless you don't mind walking in and smelling dog crap.

                                          So far, so good...

                                          I have lived here for about 8 months now and I love my apartment. My apartment is gorgeous, brand new, and I got a great deal on it. The maintenance staff is amazing! They fix your stuff within a day. The office staff is very nice. I leased with Brianna and she was very helpful. There are certain things that I do not like but some of them just come with apartment living I suppose. I hate the williamson county charge on my water bill, and that people aren't considerate enough to pick up after their dogs. So far, I really like living here.

                                            Don't Do It, Don't Move Here!

                                            So, we are waiting eagerly to move out in June. Our lease is up June 30th, but rest assure we are moving out June 1st! The water bill is outrageous, the electric bills are outrageous (they like to switch people inadvertedly to TXU, whether you want them or not), The staff is rude (expecially the Manager!!!!!!), You are not allowed to have more than 3 guests with you at the pool (there is no place to rent out for a birthday party)..... Short, sweet and to the point- DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! This whole lease has given me and my roomies a headache; we will be overjoyed when this lease is up. Between the water, electricity, HAVING NO PRIVACY, Ant problems, dog poop and this crazy old woman with a dog that just loves to stare into our apartment every chance she gets- WE ARE DONE! And, if you are wondering WTF the deal is with the old lady I mentioned... well, it gets better. The old woman is an Aunt to one of the girls in the office. So, basically complaining on her got us NO WHERE! I hope this review truly does stop you from leasing with The Alexan Star Ranch! And if it doesn't, don't say you weren't warned. I WISH I WOULD HAVE BEEN!

                                              Wish I moved someplace else...

                                              This complex is not so bad when looking at just the ammenities provided, but when you actually move in there are a lot of things they don't tell you about the complex. Most pet owner's do not clean up after their pet and it's awful when I have to go out at night to walk my dog. There is pet waste EVERYWHERE! The water bill is outrageous...we pay more than a 4 person household does. The apartments are charging everybody a base charge of $43.65 for what I have no clue and have busted my butt trying to call whomever I need to figure it out. On top of that charge we pay for trash (ok fine), pest control (again ok fine), and the water we acutally use. The maintenance isn't so bad, they are actually usually pretty fast at fixing things, but if you have an emergency (like apt flooding because the washer doesn't drain the water properly) they will not respond until the next day. We have lived there less than 4 months and already had mold growing on our window sill because they didn't properly treat them in the first place.

                                                This is a great place to live!

                                                I have lived in this complex for 7 months and have very little to complain about. The water bill is outrageous and the electricity bill is quite high, but the apartments are very nice. I've never had a problem with noise, and the management is terrific. In fact, I've never had a problem that wasn't answered by them in a timely manner. They have even addressed the pet waste issue pretty quickly. My only complaint is that it is so far east of Round Rock. However, I knew that going in. Overall, I've been extremely satisfied with this complex.

                                                  Review: Alexan Star Ranch I ve lived at Alexan Star Ranch in Hutto, TX (built March 2009) for about 2 months (moved in Dec. 2009) and have been very satisfied. I live in a one-bedroom, 825 square foot apartment. If this review is helpful, please list me (Tricia Rosetty) as a referral so I can get a rent discount. ☺ Pros: - Fantastic staff/management if you ve lived in an apartment complex before, you know how important this is! The leasing associates Maddy and Briana are very friendly and helpful. They work hard to make living here a good experience. Very professional. The maintenance staff is also prompt and efficient. - Pet friendly, including large dogs. Each home can have up to two pets, dogs up to 85 pounds. - Who knew crown molding could actually make things homier, but it does. Venetian blinds are great too. - Spacious linen closet in the bathroom, great shelf space in the laundry closet, good coat closet. - The shelves in the huge Hollywood-style closet, the coat closet, and laundry room are the kind that are wire coated I m not sure what to call it but they re not simple rails. - Built-in bookshelves (two in my apartment) - Energy efficient appliances refrigerator/freezer with ice maker (no dispenser), microwave, stove, oven, and dishwasher. - Studio lighting in dining room area and soft lighting with fans in bedroom, living room, and foyer. - Neutral painted, lightly textured walls. No restrictions on painting as long as you paint it back before moving out. - Lots of electrical outlets - Even in my small apartment, I have a balcony, which is great for growing a small garden. There s also a bit of outdoor storage in the water closet (with light). - Sprinkler system got me a discount on renter s insurance (which is required). - Gorgeous three-tier pool with fire pit and outdoor grilling can t wait for summer! Putting green and sand volleyball right next to that. - Access to business office 24/7 printing (bring paper), three computers, and WiFi. - Nice gym open 24/7 two elliptical machines, two treadmills, weight machines. Also has two TVs, iPod hook-up (doesn t work with iPhone), radio, etc. Fob-protected access. - Laminate hardwood floor in kitchen and bathroom are easy to clean and look nice. - Valet trash pick-up with provided can Sunday through Thursday evenings. Trash compacter on site. - Gate can be opened for guests via a box call to your cell phone and the touch of a button. - Hutto will be getting a new YMCA that will be about 5 minutes away from the complex. - There is an animal hospital right off FM 685, minutes away. - Well-lit parking lot I walk my dog late at night and feel safe. - Double locks on the front door with peep hole. - Office will hold packages for you to pick up. Very nice office with free newspapers, coffee, TV, lounge area, etc. - AT&T gets great service here full bars and 3G coverage. - Diverse community young single professionals, retired couples, families, white, black, -------- all kinds of people! - Monthly social events (free so far). Cons These aren t really cons so much as potential improvements. - You could probably find lower rent in Hutto or Taylor, but you really get what you pay for here high quality management and units. - Only long term leases available when I moved in, the shortest lease available for my unit was 15 months. Income must be 2.8 times the rent. - Not really near anything besides 130. Hutto doesn t have a grocery store! - If you have an animal phobia, this may not be the right place for you. Most people own pets. Also, with pet ownership comes irresponsible pet ownership some owners are bad about adhering to leash laws and cleaning up after their pets despite the fact that clean-up stations are available throughout the complex. - Pet deposit is $250 (refundable minus damages) plus a $250 one-time fee. Goes to $100 deposit, $100 fee for the second animal. Some breed restrictions. - The carpets are so new that they shed quite a bit. My Hoover tends to get clogged from the fibers. I feel like I could make a sweater from the amount of carpet I get up when I vacuum. - My apartment didn t come with a washer and drier, just the hook-ups but I think some apartments have them. - It would be nice if I could set the thermostat to different settings depending on the day of the week. - I wish the pantry was bigger. - A gas stove would be better than the electric stove I have. - Free WiFi and cable in the apartments would be great. With a converter box, you can get basic channels like PBS, which is all I do. - The water doesn t get terribly hot. I wish it could get scalding hot for the purposes of doing dishes and filled up the huge bathtub. - Not a fan of the florescent lighting in the kitchen and could use a light in the laundry closet. - Recycling on-site would be nice. I save my recyclables to bring them elsewhere. - It would be great to have a closed-in off-leash area but I m sure that s a liability. - On-site laundry cost $1 to wash and $1 to dry and only on one side of the complex. - If you happen to get assigned a high mailbox, they can t change it. I m 5 2 and I have the highest-level mailbox. I get everything okay, but it would be more convenient to have a box at eye-level or lower. I m sure if you have some sort of handicap they would make arrangements for that. If you re 5 4 or taller, you probably won t have any problems. - There isn t a guarantee of one parking space per bedroom, though covered parking and garages are available to rent (some apartments include a garage that s attached). So far this isn t a problem, but we re not at capacity yet. It s a positive for guests not to have parking passes I suppose. - The vent is kind of noisy, but definitely not the loudest I ve heard.
