The "Real" Alexan Star Ranch

I got a good laugh from the recent reviews of lovely Alexan Star Ranch! I lived here from September 2009 - October 2011, and I am so glad to be done with this place. 1.) The grounds are NOT clean. There is dog poop EVERYWHERE, especially behind the garages. (Look behind the garages close to Building 1!) 2.) The gates do not work all the time. I remember a time when the gates on the left side were broken for close to a week. 3.) They never clean the stairwells. 4.) New office staff is horrible. In the time I was there they went through at least 2/3 managers. Hopefully Yvonne will soon be on her way out! :) 5.) The utility bills are outrageous. I (a single person, no kids) was paying close to $50 a month for water, sewage, and trash! 6.) Check the garbage area on the weekends and you will barley be able to go in there to throw away your trash. When I first moved in I too was fooled by the overall layout of my apartment (the nice fixtures and amenities). Take a closer look at this place before renting!

I have lived here for several months and can't wait until my lease is up. The apts. are adequate but apparently poorly built. I have not had a decent nights sleep since moving in. The bathroom vents are vented out the wall and "flap" constantly with the slightest breeze. When the toilet is flushed, there is a knocking noise that goes on for several minutes; presumably from the meter in storage room and you can hear everything that goes on in apartment above. My electric bills have more than doubled from previous apt. and the water bills are unbelievable!! My last water bill close to $100.00 for one person who rarely cooks, take one bath a day and two loads of laundry a week. I have friends with 4-bed. homes and have children who have utilities less than here. Moving to a new apt. is not all it is cracked up to be so check things out with current residents before moving. The apartments are not filled completely so there is plenty of parking. The manager and assistant mgr. are apparently not available to residents for so much as a greeting since I have never met either of them and neither have other residents I haved talked with. The rental rates are competitive with newer apts and the area is isolated if you are looking for that, but the cost of utilities and tollroad expense is quite high. I have not recomended these apts. to anyone even with the bonuses they are offering.
