Unforgettable Apartments, Great Location, Love the Views
Sterling Village has been my home for almost 3 years now. I love the close access to interstate 15, shopping and restaurants. There are also other close conveniences such as libraries, movie theatres, a new gym, rock climbing gym, churches, wal-mart, auto dealers and much more. The area is new and feels fresh. Sterling Village has a beautiful pool with a year round hot tub and nice bbq's to use all year. I also like the huge fitness center with elipticals, free weights and a TV with cable. If you don't have an ipod there's also a surround sound stereo system to use while working out. The community is very pet friendly. They allow dogs up to 50 pounds and are strict about not allowing aggressive breed dogs. The deposit and pet rent for dogs is a normal amount. I also like that there are alot of pet stations with doggie doo doo bags and garbage receptacles. The management is very nice to work with. I always feel welcome to enter the leasing office with questions or concerns and the maintenance staff is quick to respond (usually within 24 hours!). I give Sterling Village a huge thumbs up!

I have been here 13 years.First in a nice one BR one BA overlooking the pool.Since I have pulmonary disease I transferred to a 2BR 2 BA with an attached garage.I could no longer do the stairs for my top floor Apt.I don't understand the negative complaints. If I was not happy I would have never stayed this long, and as of now no plans to move.In fact if they turned these into Condos I would buy My Apt.

Disappointed
I have lived in these apartments for about a year. They look really beautiful from the outside, but the maintenance has been pretty poor overall. When I turned on my heater last year, it smelled bad. I called maintenance and they said it was OK. Over the next two weeks I called maintenance out several times, as the smell was very bad. I finally went to Walmart and bought a Carbon Monoxide detector ... it went off right away. Since it was a weekend, I didn't have any heat for a couple of days. No apologies from the manager or compensation. This past summer, I was invaded by insects. I wrote several requests for an exterminator ... took a month to get one. This has been the most poorly maintained apartment I have lived in, so I am going to move out at the end of my lease.

Almost as good as my own home!
After first moving in, I too found the heat to have some problems. I called the office and later that day someone came out to fix it! I had a problem with the dryer..again someone was there later that day. I was worried that I would be able to hear the train, and I kinda can sometimes. Usually the noise of my computer or tv are enough to drown out the sound. I HARDLY hear my neighbors! Sometimes I can't even hear someone knock on my front door. The walls are that thick! The toilets do suck though...my roommates have problems with theirs as well. They clog super easy. I have been really impressed with the management. I've never had managers so responsive and so nice. The attached garage is really nice. I also have never had trouble finding a place to park. I know my car is PRETTY safe cause they have a security crew that I see all the time driving around. The crews DO shovel and salt the sidewalks and roads. However, they DON'T shovel every little drive way. Honestly, I believe that is up the the tenant. I got stuck a few times in my dingy little car, but my neighbors are so nice, there was always someone there to help me! Honestly, the people in this place are the bomb. They leave you alone and are quiet but if you're in need, they are there and really friendly. The apartment is close to everything in South Jordan/Sandy/Riverton. The area is new, growing, and really nice! I have a puppy and she pees everywhere. They say they blacklight and such, but I don't think the carpet in my apartment has been changed since the place was built. So if they charge me for new carpet when I move, I'm gonna be pissed! I don't think you could expect anything more from an apartment. If you want more, buy a condo! This place rocks and I am soooo happy I live here!

Going down hill
When I first moved to Sterling Village I thought it was a very nice place to live. After the first month of living there.. I realized that It was going to cost me a lot of money. The heating bill is always over $100 dollars in the winter.. crank the heat to 85 in your place and you can still feel a draft of cold air. I have put plastic (very taky but necessary) over the windows. The master bedroom has no heat going in the vents at all. I have contacted the staff many times about this. They say to try closing the vents in other rooms. So i did this and still nothing. My place was broken into.. Had to pay to get my locks chainged. Druing the winter, dont plan on leaving you place.. you cant. They do not shovel the snow for days at a time. I helped many people get thier cars into and out of the garages. I have been blamed for putting cigerette buts out on the lawn.. I dont smoke. The raised rent so now not only are my utilities very high... I have a higher rent payment. My new neighbors must be sumo wrestlers as well. I cant wait for my lease to be up.. is all i have to say... Oh and i hear they charge you for new carpet when you move out... I will keep you updated.

Like Living in a Home almost
I moved here after selling my home. I have lived her for 18 months now. I havent lived in an apartment since I graduated from college. I choose Sterling Village because of the garages and they are 200 sq ft bigger than any other two bedroom apartment I looked at. The office staff is very accomidating and maintenace is always helpful and quick to respond. Over all my apartment feels and looks more like a home more so than any other apartments I looked at. Plus the residents here are alot more upscale than other properties. I guess that comes with the slightly higher rent but worth the money.

Can't be beat.
I love it here. I've been trying to move further north for awhile and can't find anything as nice for this great of a rate. The fews problems I had were fixed quickly. The floor plans are genious and huge. Private garages have spoiled me completely. I definatley recommend this place.

Don't bother with getting a written price
Came in about a month ago, liked the place. Decided that this is the place I would want to live. All they had were first floor apartments. So I was asked to be put on their call list the second a notice got turned in I would come down put the $200 dep. to get the apartment. I was assured I would get a call and kept updated. The person that was working with me, just left went on vacation or training or something and wasn't called or passed my info on to the other office person. When I came in on the day I said I would, they told me that now it was a $400 redecorating fee and a $100 dep. that they would waive. This all changed the day before I came in to secure an apartment. I told them I had been waiting and felt I should still get the $200 price. Their answer was no, so I decided if they weren't going to honor the orignal price quote and appreciate the fact that I waited two weeks. Since they didn't bother to mention the increase or work with me on this issue I took this as a sign at how they conduct business.

I moved in to another community.

J.W.

Watch Out
You can obviously see all the good things about Sterling Village - but there is a large number of NEGATIVES you can't see so watch out! Be prepared to PAY THOUSANDS of dollars to get out of there! The management are uncooperative and uncommunicative. They are unwilling to group nonsmokers in one complex and smokers in another - so if you don't want to smell like an ASHTRAY EVERY DAY DON'T COME TO STERLING VILLAGE! They are "pet friendly" but if you have a pet it is horrible. They take a blacklight and say that all the spots they see from it are from the pet - but if you spill meat or are sick and puke on the floor accidentally and it doesn't show on the carpet at all it will with a blacklight! So you end up paying for new carpet. The water in South Jordan tastes great, but not at Sterling Village - it tastes like a third world country. Then there are the toilets! Arghh! They are always a problem and management looks at you like it is YOUR fault when everyone else's toilets get clogged too!Every apartment has positives and negatives, but this place is a pretty veneer over pig slop. Basically, WATCH OUT don't come to Sterling Village unless you want more frustrations and to be poorer.

looks arn't everything
We moved from out of town, and were not able to look at the appartment we were to rent. We were told that our garage was attached and it was just a few steps down to our unit. When we arrived on moving day with our truck, the office had closed early. I was able to track someone down, we received our keys and that was it.

Our garage was down the street, our appartment was down a full flight of stairs. Which was a spacific concern for us having a small child. At that time we felt stuck, we had a truck that needed to be unloaded and returned and now there was really no one to be found.

That seemed to be the beginning of our problems. The construction was not good. we had to have many repairs to our closets, the racks just wouldn't stay in the walls.

I found it very important to document every word that was said in the office. I was glad to be leave.

Of all of the places I have lived in many different states, this is probably the nicest apartment I have ever lived in. The units are huge, and the appliances are very new, from what I am told. They look very new and work like a dream. Locals I have run into think the rent is astronomical, however, having lived on the east coast I can tell you that they are a great value. I have so much room I am having trouble furnishing the place. That is not a bad problem to have. However, there is no storage, so it is difficult to store things that you don´t often use.
Pros:
-The size of the units
-New appliances
-Garages for most units (very nice ones)
-Plenty of parking
-Nice workout facility
-Nice pool
-Double balconies are nice (having trouble finding a use for the second one, again, not a bad problem to have)
-Location is fine.
-View is awesome is you face east and live on the third floor.
Cons:
-Very close to train track, incoming trains shake entire complex mercilessly.
-Poorly insulated. Units on the 3rd floor get very cold due to vaulted ceilings and single pane windows. However, utilites are never very high. Floors and ceilings are also not well insulated, as low frequency noises (bass from stereos) tend to shake walls and floors of conjoining apartments. I hear my downstairs neighbors tv and stereo all the time, and from what they tell me, they hear me walking around. I can also hear their alarm clock in the morning. Word of advice - talk to your neighbors and set a noise curfew. No loud music after 9 or something like that.
- Very poor job of getting rid of snow in parking lots. Currently lots of ice. Only a matter of time before someone falls and hurts themselves.
- Hordes of blood-thirsty bees in the summer. It is almost epidemic. Well, utah is the beehive state, and sterling village does what they can to control it. Word of advice: Don´t eat on your patio in the summer.
- I lived on the third floor, and I have 50 stairs to walk up and down whenever I come home or leave. I am young, so I don´t really care, but my dog has been complaining lately. If you are older or have bad joints, the concrete stairs are not forgiving if you fall (and they do get icy!)and walking up and down them will take a toll on your knees. Request a lower unit if possible. Moving in will be a lot easier! Plus, the view is only cool for a while. You get used to it, and then you wish you lived downstairs.
