Truly a place to call home!

Holly Point is truly a place to call home, the complex is gorgeous. The apartments are very spacious and there is something for everyone to do! I have lived here for 6 years and I absolutely love it. The school systems are great, the staff is fantastic and the grounds are unmatched! My family is very happy here.

    Quiet, peaceful, luxury living!

Love living at Holly Point! Our apartment is so spacious and perfect for our needs. Everyone is so friendly around us and the neighbors are very quiet and respectful. I can't say enough about how beautiful the ground are. The flowers this time of year are gorgeous! Maintenance is super quick and efficient and the office staff is so nice. We also LOVE the swimming pool! It has been a truly wonderful experience living here!

      Great place to live

We have lived in Holly Point apartments for almost a year and have loved it. We have never had any problems at all. Maintanence is always quick and fast, the grounds are always kept nice and neat, and the front office has always been friendly and helpful. There is a security guard at nights and our apartment has a security alarm so we have always felt safe and comfortable. We have a small child and he loves the pool and the playgrounds. The apartments are decent size and for the price it is a wonderful place to live.

I enjoyed living at Holly Point Apartments Home, along with my dog; The Properly Manager, and Staffs are very professional and very helpful, to assist with any problem I been very luck that the properly manager is very kind and helpful to assist me. My only concern that I have is my patio; When it rain water build up and, will not drain quickly, therefore my outdoor furniture sits on water. It s seem that the back yards have a draining problem on several areas I have notice when I do my walks, some of the residents do not pick after theirs, pets business In some area we need better lighting, for safety issues I hope that this company keeps up with the good work, you have a beautiful development and the grounds are so pretty, and peaceful. Thank you

          I love Holly Point

I have lived in Holly Point Apartments for almost 4 years, and I love it. The staff is always nice to my children and myself. The pool is awesome with a lifeguard, which is always there. The outside is always well cared for and beautiful flowers. The inside of the apartment has a nice layout and is big. I live in a 2 bed 1 bath, and there is plenty of room in our house, and plenty of storage space. We have a back patio and we are able to have a gas grill out there as well. We have a huge laundry room that has fits both the washer and dryer, as well as having room to store things. Our master closet takes up one wall and is huge, as well as the other bedroom. My children's closet is big as well. This would defintely be a place I would continue to live at!!

I am so ready to move! Terrible.

At first when I moved into Holly Point I thought paying an extremely high rent would be well worth the money and after living there 6 months I feel completely different. Both me and my boyfriends cars have been broken into and everything stolen. I mean for them to have security at the gate and me to obviously be paying for protection how does that happen? And what really made me mad about the whole thing is that when I went to talk to management about the whole thing they acted as though this is the first they have heard of this ever in all their days. So I talked to a friend of mine that also lives in the complex and found out that he too had been robbed and everything in his car was stolen from him a month prior to us and he said when he talked to them they told him the same thing and acted just as surprised and then he said he found out from the security guard that it has been multiple breakins in the past 6 months and it is increasing and they have caught no one yet and that the leasing office is completely aware of this!!! WOW what a surprise! So with that being said be cautious with moving in to holly point because if you do decide to and you do get robbed they will act completely surprised to hear of such! As for the apartments themselves they are very out dated and old fashioned for the amount of rent that we pay and also the tubs are sort of molded and trust me when I say scrubbing them does'nt help at all, It does'nt! I mean im glad our rent is discounted but I feel they should discount it by about $300 more due to the slum neighborhood it is becoming and how fast its getting that way. Fair WARNING!

              Wonderful experience

This was the second apartment my husband and I moved to after being stationed at NOB June 2008. We loved living here. The staff was extremely nice. Although a little above what we wanted to spend at $1306 our 2 bed, 2bath with the canal view was a joy. The apartment was very spacious and having our own individual address was great too. We had to call maintenance twice in the year we lived there and they were at our apt to fix the problem within the hour. The only issue we had was the fact that our particular unit didnt have oberflow parking so we had to park farther from our doors some nights. The appliances are outdated but, not being a big cooker, it wasnt a problem for us. It is about 25 minutes from base but tjat also wasnt a deal breaker because you can get to the interstate in less than 5 min. The surrounding neighborhood is an older well established neighborhood and it is close to many stores. We would definitely still be living here if we didnt have to transfer. For honesty's sake, there is a train that usually goes by early in the morning but being on the far side of the complex I couldnt hear it that much.

This was the first apartment my husband and I chose to move into, and it has been a complete nightmare. The apartment area has gated security, in which it appears nice, but the securities don't do their job. They allow anyone in without checking whether or not they have their HP tags on their car. Within a couple months of moving in, my vehicle gets broken into. The apartment complex is roach infested, actually excuse me they're only "water-bugs". There were a few nights that we had to leave and stay in a hotel because we were so disgusted about the size of these rodents. I even found some crawling around INSIDE MY WASHER. They replaced the washer machine within days, but the bug problem exceeded the limit. I do admit the landscapes were beautiful, the area seems to be clean on the outside, speed bumps very annoying but understandable. I would think twice about paying $1000 for a place that doesn't even include washer and dryer. Very spacious though.

                  Not my cup of tea.

I live in a 1 bedroom apartment. Like others are saying, I wasn't able to see the actual apartment before signing a lease. The pros: The place is absolutely beautiful on the outside. The community is gated after 5 PM. While the security team doesn't really do much, their presence no doubt drives off a lot of possible crime. The office staff is friendly enough. For parking, I've lived here for 6 months and I've only had trouble parking once, even then the parking was still far better than other places I've lived. Each apartment is equipped with an alarm system on the door and a panic button in the master bedroom which can immediately contact the police. It has exceptionally good square footage for the price. There's garbage collection twice a week, a dumpster available at other times, and the water is free. The cons: When I moved in, the floors were sticky with some unidentifiable substance, the air was thick with the taste and smell of unknown chemicals. For the first few months everything I ate or drank - even bottled water - tasted like I was eating off the floor of a grocery store right after the cleaning crew came through. The oven was missing a few knobs and not usable. On my move-in checklist, I noted that, and they came in and replaced it while I was at work.. I was a little upset over that since they said they would ask permission before doing any repairs. A week in, I used my dishwasher to find that it was broken, but that was after the 5 day period you get to assess the apartment, so I still haven't reported that. The bath tub has some weird brown stains all over it, and something has the permanent sweet smell of barbeque chicken (something I've never eaten in the apartment). The way the stairs and guard rail are, it pretty much precludes any possibility of installing a washer and dryer on the second floor - well that's not exactly true, but if you don't plan on staying for more than a year, it's just not worth the effort that it would take. The biggest issue I have is that Cox is the only provider for both phone and internet. I bought the largest internet package with Cox, for a 20 mb/sec connection.. I figured it'd be screaming fast, but it's not. From 9:00-10:00 PM every night, the internet just dies. Apparently when people use their phone, it eats away at the community's bandwidth. Also the most bandwidth I've ever been able to get is around 4 mb/sec. This is clearly more of a Cox problem than a Holly Point problem, but it's still something potential HP residents should be aware of. Also, I hit my head on one of the lighting fixtures just about every day. I realize all the speed bumps are necessary in a community this size, but they really get annoying. I've never seen a single duck here, but for several months there was an army of Canadian geese in the parking lot which made it kind of hard to get in and out at times. Thankfully they called in someone to round them up eventually however. Also not really a rant against the apartment, but the next time I decide to spend nearly $1000 on rent, I'm going to make sure there's a washer/dryer included. The square footage is nice, but in retrospect, I'd gladly trade it for a washer and dryer. Overall, no single thing I dislike about the apartment is really all that bad, however there's enough things wrong that I won't be renewing my lease next year. I rated this one as a "no" but it could just as easily be a "maybe". Also, anyone who's considering moving here for the close proximity of the Farm Fresh grocery store.. go in there before you base a decision off that. I'm told Farm Fresh is a pretty nice chain, but that store must be pretty substandard if that's the case. I usually just use it for the movie rental vending machines and go a few miles down greenbriar to the overcrowded harris teeter to do shopping. Edit: Oh I forgot to mention, there's one 7-inch long cockroach in the apartment. I put roach traps down (but later figured out they were only for small roaches). I haven't seen the roach in about a month, but every once in a while he'll come out at night to taunt me. I'll chase him and he'll disappear behind furniture or the fridge, and there will be no sign of him when I get the lights on.

you don't get what you pay for(unless u pay for the grounds)

I CAN NOT STAND IT HERE. I beg with every bone in my body PLEASE do NOT move here.Me and my husband and our 5 year old daughter moved to the area from another state and did our application and everything via fax. We knew there was going to be a problem the first phone call to the complex. Me and my husband had no idea that we were inquiring about the same complex. One consultant told my husband that the deposit was one amount and another told me a different amount. We were also told different amounts for a pet fee. We were told to EXPRESS mail our original applications, even though we would get there the same day the EXPRESS mail would get there or before, and a 30.00 application fee. We did, and then we were told by another consultant that there was no application fee and that they would subtract the 30.00 from the amount owed. AMOUNT OWED!!! The rent for the 2 bed 2 bath apartment is 1335 (20.00 extra for a pomeranian) Get this we recieved one month free and 667 for the next month. There is a 500.00 deposit 125.00 pet deposit fee and another 150 admin fee. We paid 795.00 just to move in. Anyway when we arrived the apartment was not ready. They kept calling me and calling me on my cell saying that that they needed me to come in and pay the 795 even though the apartment was not ready. I told them that I was not paying anything until I see the apartment. I had to ignore calls. Since they gave me an address I drove by to see if I could see through the window and the "HOUSE CLEANERS" were inside, so that was not an option all the blinds were closed as well. I finally got to see the apartment the following day and it was fair. The grounds here are great and they will tell you that they just recently updated the leasing office. All that is spent on these grounds and the furnishings in the leasing office these apartments could have been updated. All of the original (from the 80's) appliances are in the kitchen and the bath rooms are just as old. There are still the stainless steal soap dish and tooth brush rack hanging on the wall and there is no counter space. Ladies be ware, I put my hair items under the cabinet and there is a leak so need I say I have to buy more The next time I move into an apartment I will for go a full inspection as if we were buying a HOUSE. The size of the rooms are great and I love the open floor plan. I am 5'5 and the lighting over the dining table hit me in the head as well as the one in the kitchen. The sockets don't hold a plug. They shoot back at you.. I complained to the MANAGER and that person is RUDE. They all are. Now get this...This takes the cake. They ran our credit, took a money order, gave us keys and allow us to move in and here it is almost 2 weeks and NO ONE HAS ASKED TO SEE A PICTURE I.D.

                      Going down hill

Holly Point on paper sounds great: beautiful landscaping, spacious apartments, controlled entrances....right. The security aspect of this apartment is a joke. They have a security guard on the grounds starting around 5 pm. Like a previous poster said, all you have to do is drive by and wave at the guard. They don't check anything and anyone can come in. What is the use of having a security guard in the evening? ANYONE CAN COME IN ALL DAY LONG!!! Two of my neighbors have had their cars broken into with items stolen. This happened again last night with a report of gunshots. My lease is coming up soon and I will not be renewing.

                        HORRIBLE can't wait to leave!!!!!!

I moved in here May 2008 and I completely agree that this place is a load of crap!!! It is way too expensive, the only nice thing about this place is the landscaping, i guess thats what $1000 a month will give you. The maintenance is a joke and the bug guy, well, he doesn't really exist, just a figment of the office staffs imagination. When I first moved in the maintenance staff had painted everything nice and white, however, the closed all the doors with the paint still wet. When I opened the doors they were stuck so I had to pull on them and it ripped half the paint off the moldings. Maintenance issues, like others have said, fix them yourself. The neighbors that lived below us complained that our floors were squeaky and the staff kept telling us that they were complaining once a week and that they were going to have to come in and tear up the carpets and check the floorboards. My roommate ended up having to pay out of pocket to move to a completely new apartment on a different street and they never even made the repairs!!! New tenants moved right in, what a joke! Parking is awful, random people just drive in and park wherever they want. They give out these stupid little holly point stickers to put in your car window they call it "controlled parking" and also have a security guard but if you want to beat security just drive on the right side labeled residents and wave!! He will let you right in, no questions asked! Definitely do not recommend this place to anyone!!!! This place is a joke!!!!

We would be more than happy to discuss the area and Hollypoint Apartments with anyone considering moving into the area. Feel free to call and ask for Josh at: 757-777-7412. My husband and I just moved in and we love our apartment. It has new carpet and a large patio and new windows. We relocated from South Carolina and had to do most of the paperwork via fax and email and the staff was very helpful. I ended up dealing with more than one person and when we moved even the property manager introduced herself. I was shocked because my last apartment you could never get a return call from the property manager. I think we will enjoy our time here and I definitely recommend these apartments to everyone. I can't wait for the pool to open!!

i moved in may 2008 for a 1 year contract the first 4 months were rather pleasent good reply times for maintanence they even seemed decent and fixed the issues. but mid to end of dec 08 they had new windows and new cabinets installed in my unit. i moved my furniture away from the window as asked and left for a while. a came back and the window installers were working on apartment above me so i asked them if they were all done and if i could move my furniture back they said yeah so i did. i opened my blinds up to get light in since no over head lighting. this is where the problom occured they installers didnt overlap the blinds on the front 2 windows like they did the back 2 so some coking got on my arm and furniture and staind it i complained about it they responded reletivly quick and the site manager vicki came by and offered to make it right by hireing a carpet cleaner to come clean it so i agreed to it. when the carpet cleaner leaves i look at it and he scrubed it so hard that he almost made a hole in it at all 4 places and left burn marks on my rug from the tubing or pipes of his machine. so i call them up since the couch set was only 6 months old and complained how they need to make it right . it is a 1500 dollor set she offered to take 200 to 300 hundred off rent. i told her it was unacceptable and she basically said it was my fault even though they paid for the cleaner to come. so i have a supena coming for them so i can fight it in court. also i watched my sisters dog 3 days a month since around late sept and she kept trying to bring up how the people in the office saw the dog since we moved in even though the dog isnt even over 5 months old yet . so there trying to make me pay a couple hundred dollors for that. i think this is to long so i wont even go into the cabinet installers *cough screws in my garbage disposal hole in ceiling cough* so i will not be renewing my lease when it comes uo for renewal nor do i recomend this place.

I have lived here since July 2007. I moved here with my job and loved it so much I decided to continue to live at Holly Point. Therer are many ammenities which they are improving on at the present time. They are making the fitness center better. They have a nice pool, 2 great playgrounds for children, and a beautiful, safe neighborhood. I would encourage anyone who is searching for an apartment to move in. The apartments are very large and worth the price.

I have lived at Holly Point for over a year and I have loved it ever since. The community is a well established one that has been in Chesapeake for years and is close to Greenbrier where I work. The management staff has changed since I moved in and I must say it is for the better. I have a very large 2 bedroom apartment that is by the canal so I have a beautiful view every day. I love that my apartment has very spacious closets and a large kitchen since I love to cook. My only complaint is that parking could be better but some neighbors have more than 2 cars and are selfish. But it really depends on the street you live on. The pool is very large and the pool party last year was awesome. Holly Point recently started Bingo Night and Wine Tasting and so I've met some new friends while living here. I would recommend this community to everyone.

i have brand new appliances in my apt ,stove, fridge & dishwasher, the carpet was new when i moved in & freshly painted, you wont find a complex with nicer grounds in this area, but i have to say some pp that live here are just whiners,if somethings broke just go to the maintenence office, i had toilets back up in the evening & they came right out and fixed it.rent is a little high but anything around here less than 1k a month will be garbage..

                                    Look elsewhere

If you like well maintained landscaping this is the place for you; if you want a place that you will enjoy living make a u-turn at the guard station. I've been here for almost a year now. Don't let the models fool you. All of the apartments have appliances older than me(my stove was make in '82), and falling apart from all the half-a$$ repairs the crummy maitenance staff does. I had a leaking roof for 2 months, when they finally repaiared it after 4 visits they left nails around my front step that my dog injured his foot on; and still didn't repair the water damage to carpet and walls. Leaking water heater could have been repaired easily with a pipe coupler insted the great maitenance busted large holes in the wall, broke the pipes in the wall and I was out of hot water for more than a day-then required three complaints and 5 visits to repair holes. Broken toilets 5 visits to fix. Bug problem still have it after visits from the "bug guy". The rent is way to high for the quality. the size is nice but the layouts are not optimal. Oh and when we moved in we were told if we'd like to rent month to month we could just pay an extra $20 per month that has gone up to $200/month. Our rent also went up $65 for a 12month lease or $110 for a 6 month-HA!! for what? If these places were gutted (new carpets, paint, trim, cabinets, appliances, etc. they could easily charge these rates. I don't even use the amenities because the gym is always broken, the pool is over chlornated, and their dog park is over grown and under cleaned up. There is no assigned parking and the number of people living in an apartment is not regulated so my neirghbors below me(all 5 adults with 5 cars) take up half the lot I've complained as have others with no results, just dirty looks from their new manager Vickie. After 11 months of crap I finially complained to her, and got some issues resolved or at least patched up. I asked is we could do something about the increase in rent and after a week of thinking about it she offered me a one time $100 consession-my rent is going up $110 how the hell does that help??? And if they they tell you they are understaffed on maitenance, just look out your window at all the dimwits driving around in golf carts....with no aparent place to go-I watch them race or drive around in the back yards or sleep under the trees Seriously go somewhere else Overpriced, rundown, and undermanaged

Horrible Staff, Horrible Maintenance.. Don't even BOTHER!

I will never recommend Holly Point to anyone! I wouldn't even suggest this place if it was free and came completely furnished. The customer service you get from them is absolutely dis-satisfying as well as unprofessional, including the property manager! They'll do whatever they can to get you in there, but once you're there, you are on your own. If you need something fixed, fix it yourself because they'll say that they never got your request for maintenance, and will even tell you that you never called. I was so sick of that place that I was happy to get out. The best thing about living there was the landscaping, but other than that, it was garbage. If you want to live somewhere overly priced, and get talked to like a dog from the property manager and her "business agent" then this is the place for you. If you like to get on your hands and knees and fix your own maintenance issues, this is your place. If you want to be lied to by the front office staff, this is your place. Moreover, the trains are annoying. They are so loud that it will wake you out of your sleep at all times of the night. They have this little shabby wooden fence that is supposed to blocking anyone from coming in from the outside ghettos (I lived in the back and would LITERALLY see people hopping the fence, or coming from a cut in the fence) I informed management of this several times, but did they do anything? NO! Did they inquire more, NO! They claim its a camera back there, but I lived in the back, did I see a camera? NO! DId people still continue to come in? YES! Security, HORRIBLE! I don't see the point. They stand in the front and wave you in, half the time they aren't there, and the other half they literally do not care who comes in and out of that complex. The gym, SMALL, and always BROKE! Bugs would show up and crawl on my walls every once in awhile, but these were bugs I've never seen before! Call the front on the issue, did it get fixed? NO! Did they care, NO! I was told that bug people come out and spray on Thursdays, YEAH RIGHT! Save your money, go rent a house or something, this is a waste.

                                        I've loved it.

I've lived here for almost 2 years and enjoyed every minute. (Now, I will mention that I came from a HORRIBLE apartment complex before this) There's always plenty of parking, I love that they come to pick up the trash instead of having to walk it to the dumpster, I've been lucky and had GREAT neighboors who are friendly and quiet, the office staff have always been nice to me (although I don't go to the office a lot, except to drop off rent), when our refrigerator started to break maintenance replaced it with a brand new one that same day, my dogs have enjoyed the dog park immensely, and I love my actual apartment... it's much bigger than the one I had previous to this and costs about the same amount. At first the "security" guards seemed kinda lax, but they've gotten new ones recently, who seem to be doing a great job checking for resident stickers and such. And when I went into the office to terminate my lease (moving out of state), the office staff was very helpful and didn't give me any problems.

Club house, do worry it is always broken

As long as you like to pay a bunch of money for things that you can never use, like the club house. Just dont even try it is been closed 11 out of 12 months. The rental office they just leave your complaint back at your unit when they do not think that you are not a nice person. The maintance here is very bad, I have two bedroom, which one room had roof leak for the first 4 months, and I had to call them back to repair the whole in the ceiling. That is just a few of the issues. Just go down the street, You will be glad you did. oh yea when your lease is up, they will increase you by at least 30.00 bucks more.

Nice place to live ,real quiet ,apts are good size compared to most, only problem is the -------- staff. They refuse to address any problems. They have you do a move in inspection, but they never fix anything you might find wrong. The one guy that came to my Apt couldnt even read a tape measure.I bet most Apt staff in this area are the same so you just have to deal with it..

                                              All has been pretty good

I have lived here for about 5 years along the canal in an upstairs unit. We have had very few issues with anything here. My toddler did once lock himself into a bedroom and we didn't have a key. We called maintenance and he was right there with a key to open the door. We did have a fridge go bad and they came out and replaced it.
The only issues I have currently are the parking (since our neighbor has 4-5 vehicles parked in front of their unit regularly), and some of the noise. I can usually only hear things like the vacuum running next door, or people talking in the bathrooms, bass from radio, and then the door slamming that happens all the time.

We have had a really great experience with our unit and it has plenty of space (much more than any other apartments in the area). I also have never felt in danger. I walked as late as midnight for exercise and never had any safety issues.

The childrens playgrounds are nice (except for the small one which has no bench for the parent to sit and watch their child playing). I do find it funny that the enclosed dog park has 2 benches for the owners to sit on right next to the childrens playground with no bench outside of the fenced area. I asked for them to put a bench out for the parents that want to be close to their kids at the park, but instead they built the dog park.

One nice perk is that they have occassional get togethers that are free, like for Christmas they have snacks and such and Santa comes out for the kids to spend time with. They also have something for Easter and Halloween many times.
