Loved it!
Holly Point was a great place to live - I left only because I got married and moved out of state. The grounds are well-protected, the staff is very friendly, maintainence responds quickly (unless you call them after hours on the weekends), and the place is kept looking beautiful. The surrounding area of Chesapeake does seem to be going downhill, which makes Holly Point one of the best places in the area due to their security staff. Also this was the first complex I lived in that NEVER had a parking shortage.

DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!
Yes the Places are big, Yes the entire complex is very kept up by the grounds staff, and Yes there are "guards" that sit at the front entrance.... BUT THAT IS IT! The gaurds DO NOT GUARD ANYTHING. They only wave you through. All someone really needs is to give them a number to a building and presto chango... they give you a pass!!! The pool is only open for a very short amount of time during the summer. Not the entire summer. The units are WAY OVERPRICED!! The staff is horrible and rude!! The trian does run during the day... but since we are at work the majority of the time it doesn't bother us. BUT... it DOES however, run at all hours of the night. It is very loud and very annoying. Don't beleive the "You wont notice the train" statement that they will give you at the front office. You will notice it. Normally around midnight and then again between 2-3 am. The bug problem is disgusting. No matter how many times you call the front office about it, nothing will get done the right way if at all. They will tell you that they are putting "New Carpet in and new paint" before you move in, don't beleive that either. Hotwater heaters break, the pipes are very old and falling apart. Our H2O heater is on it's last leg and the pipes are breaking apart and going through the rest of the system causing everything else to fall apart. IE: the faucets, toilets, etc. Anything connected to the water system. We had someone come out to look at ours after numerous calls to the front office about it, and that person told us about all the different problems this place has with these things & it didn't surprise him that we were having the same problems.
The "Club house" is locked causing you to have to go to the front office to get a key if you want to use it. That is.. if the front office is even open.
ROFL... imagine that, a very loud train as I write this!!!
This place is no where near secure... I always see people walking around from the outlying ------ areas as if it were their own neighborhood. You will hear gunshots from the hood behind Hollycrap apartments.
They will charge you an arm and a leg if you want to have pets.
Most of the people that live here are very nice and easy to get along with, but as with every place you will have your occasional few that will drive like a bat outta hell through the parking lot, and the ones that like to blast their club music.
Overall: This place is a craphole. Do not move here. Take your time and search around the entire area, you will find something else that is way better for the price.
-Jason Jayne

Nothing But Good Things to Say!
I have lived in Holly Point for 2 Years now and I love it! My apartment is right on the train tracks but, with the windows closed you can hardly hear the train. After a while you get used to it. I love the curbside garbage pick up that the complex offers and the grounds are very well maintained. I do agree with some of you regarding the security being a joke. But, when I had a problem with my neighbor playing the music too loud at around 11PM on a week night, I called the security booth and they responded right away. The staff is very pleasant. They have a doggie park that my dog just loves! I would recommend Holly Point to anyone that wants to have a pleasant renting experience.

THE WASH LAND CAR WASH!!!!
Holly Point is a beautifully maintained facility, with a large ground crew and an active maintenance team. The apartments are lovely, even if too expensive, and the managment staff is satisfactory. HOWEVER, if you consider moving here, refuse to take an apartment in the rear left hand corner of the complex. There is a ------ car wash just over the fence. And the ------ residents blast their ------ bass as loud as possible all hours of the day and night. The police can only give tickets to individual offenders, but are unable to force the facility to respect the neighborhood boundaries. So if you like rap and bass, and don't mind if overshadowing your life move here. Further away from this corner, I can't see why anyone would have a problem living here.

very good IMO
I have lived here for 5-6 years in 3 different apartments. I am in the military and I have never had a problem with my apartment while on patrol. The staff has allways been very good and polite to me. They were very accommodating, each time I changed apartments due to roommates transfering out. The train does come by, if your on the opposite side it's not that loud or inaudiable. You can hear the horn some times. If you demand absoulte quite then dont live next to the tracks.

There is a less desireable area near the complex BUT I have never had a problem while I lived there, nor have I heard of any. You dont see people just roaming around the place. It's your typical "across the railroad tracks". Just down the road near indian river HS there are some nice housing areas. Allot of the residents are retired elderly people. Which is good IMO, since they are polite and very quite. Parking depends on which part of the complex you live in. Most of the places there are plenty of spots, but a few areas it's limited if you or your neighbors have allot of guest.

Complex is grounds are VERY well maintained. Maintence was allways promt for me. Clubs house is nice. I have seen it be used allot for parties by residents. very well maintained & cleaned daily. The gym is very small but you can still get what you need from the weights. Treadmill is kinda generic but I dont expect 4k$ equipment. It's a nice enough place to jog around, tennis courts are fine too. Pool is nice but can be busy. Vrigina beach is much more expensive for less sqft. Can you hear your neighbors some times? yes you can but your are in a apartment if you want absoulute silence the buy a home. Be realistic.

Location is awesome IMO. 3 min to the mall, best buy & target. Multiple areas for fast access to HWY within 2 min. Plenty of resturaunts, both chain type(olive garden) or mom & pop.

They have a security guard at the gate... it looks nice but it is more or less a joke. One in ten will do thier job. They leave around 2am. It's better then nothing and I havent heard of any other Apartment complexes that have one. btw all apartments have built in alarms you can choose to activate.

If your military and need to break a lease, the soldiers and sailors act & VA law allow you to do so. Just show them your orders and they have to let you out of your lease.
Overpriced, Dang Near ------, and NOT very safe to live here.
I lived here for 2 years and it was great! I transferred overseas for 2 years, then moved back to Holly Point after receiving orders back to Norfolk. The place CHANGED and NOT for the better. The apartments are OVERPRICED, the neighborhood is going to crap, and it's not a very safe place to live anymore. Just across the tracks, which is less than a 1/4 of a mile from the apartments, is the ------. People walk in and out of the premises as they see fit. Security doesn't stop them. While I'm on the subject, sometimes security is there, sometimes they aren't. Half the time, they don't even check permit stickers, just wave you through so don't be fooled by the "gated community, security" blurb. Also, a member of the office gave my apartment key to someone NOT on my lease, and did NOT have permission to enter my apartment. I was at work when this happened. The reason given was because the office receptionist "felt comfortable" doing it. An item was stolen from my apartment, and remittance was made, but that's irrelevant. DO NOT MOVE HERE!
I dont get the bad reviews...
I dont get the bad reviews on this place. I have lived here for 3 years now and i dont think the walls are thin, i live downstairs. I love all my neighbors. The office really tries their best to take care of everyones needs. You cant make everyone happy, we all know that. The price is normal for this area and a lot better space than any other apts around. Maintenance is so nice and they will clean up after themselves as well. Wow i think the people that complain so much are just miserable and have nothing else to do but that.

Nica apartment, crappy staff
My husband and I moved in here in January. Everyone that visits loves how spacious our apartment is, which it is. That is about the only pro for living here.

I never really notice the train noise because we previously lived near Oceana. My family came and visited; none of them could sleep because the trains were so loud.

We also had a huge termite problem this spring. You have to stay on them if you want the pest control to come out. After the came and sprayed once, there was no difference. I called the office and the manager told me to spray them with hairspray. I told her that was not going to stop more from coming in and she really didn't care. Finally after a few more trips the problem was resolved.

Right now we have millipedes and centipedes coming up through the floorboards. I called the office weeks ago to have someone come and they said they would be out on Thursday. This coming Thursday will be the 4th one we have been waiting.

We can't for our lease to be up so we can move.

PS Don't come to the office on weekends to look at the apartments. Office staff will lock the doors when they don't want to deal with people.

Not bad, but be aware
This apartment complex is pretty good. I like the private entrances, makes it feel more like home. Though the walls are pretty thin and I'm always trying to tip toe everywhere so as not to disturb the lady downstairs. I'm pretty sure she can probably hear every step we take, but there's nothing we can do about it because the construction just stinks. I do feel badly though....she probably hates us. Emergency maintenance requests are fulfilled immediately, but non-emergency work orders are sometimes never filled at all. It's pretty expensive, but normal for the area. We're getting a three bedroom townhome in another city for $200 less than our one bedroom apartment here. Be prepared to pay big in this region of VA, and it's so not worth it. But if you have to live here and you're willing to pay this much, it's not a bad place to live...I'd recommend it.

Not Reccomended for military families!
The complex grounds are nicely manicured, and it is also nice to have a private entry to your apartment (much like a house). Has a nice variety of floor plans.

However I do not reccomend this complex becasue the staff is not nice, it is in a very ------ and dark part of town, and its a long drive to the norfolk base. Maintenance people are rude and they respond slowly. And they are terrible you have an emergency on a weekend!

The train is VERY annoying and loud. It comes by all day long. The security officer at the front gate doesn't do anything... They usually are in there reading a book or not really paying attention.

There are little black kids running around the complex alot and getting into the gym and hottub unattended.

They are not courteous to military people having to transfer. They try to charge you 590.00 termination fee! Rediculous!

As you can see, you would be MUCH better off living in Virginia Beach,Virginia. I reccomned Lattitudes apartments.

Apartment floorplans are diverse and spacious. The grounds are maintained and the landscaping is beautiful (key selling points). However, HP has flaws just like any other apartment complex, and its definitely over rated. The complex is NOT in the nicest part of the city.

Noise is a big problem because of traffic on Providence and Campostella roads, tenants slamming doors is not resolved, trains pass by all hours (day/night) vibrating the building. However, the leasing agent who showed us around stated this section was quiet, not!

But the most irritating of all nuisances are "the geese". Our apartment is located along the canal, pretty but a big mistake! For the past 3 months we have had to endure almost constant geese barking day and night! Our sleep has been disturbed to the point that were cranky! I finally contacted the office last week, was told there was nothing they could do about the noise. But if feces on the walkways exist contact maintenance and if residents are feeding the geese tell them to stop.

Well for $985 plus a $40 appliance fee, I don't its my job to tell residents anything or have my sleep interrupted by geese! I would NOT recommend this complex. It looks good on the outside, but once you're into a 1 yr lease management could care less about your comfort or concerns.

Great Office Staff. . . but, apartments are overrated
I moved to Holly Point and had to put a deposit and everything down on my apartment before I actually saw the complex. When I first drove into the complex, I was pretty impressed with the landscaping. . .very well kept up. Although, the location of the complex is in a pretty rough area (however, I'm a young single female and I've never once had a problem, although I can't say that I feel completely safe being in this part of town). The office staff is wonderful. Very polite and helpful. On the apartment side, I really do have some complaints. I've had a problem with water leakage in several rooms of my apartment, the shelves in my laundry room crashed to the floor the first time that I set ANYTHING on them (for the record, it was a bottle of laundry detergent--makes sense to put it on a shelf in the LAUNDRY ROOM!!), two of the three windows in my living room were actually painted shut, and overall, it just really doesn't seem like the apartments are kept up too well. It's almost like after every tenant moves out, the maintenance staff just throws up a new coat of paint and moves on. On the positive side, the apartment is very large and roomy and it's got more closet space than any apartment I've ever had. For the price that I pay though, I'd say you could probably get another apartment (probably not quite as big 900sqft for a 1 bedroom) in a better area for cheaper. I would recommend Holly Point to a friend only if they were specifically looking for an apartment on the larger side. Because, in that area, Holly Point has everyone beat!

Great Surrounding Area
Holly Point is worth every penny. The surrounding area is by no means a "------". Evidentally one of my neighbors does not know what a "------" is.
The security guards are wonderful as well. I needed assistance one time because I heard a strange noise. They were at my apartment quickly and the noise turned out to be a duck nesting under one of my shrubs.
I will never move from the Best Apartments in the Hampton Roads area.

Nice within community, but near train tracks & ------
Holly Point is no doubt a beautiful complex to live within. Great landscaping, diverse residents, quick maintenance, private entrances, and spacious. However, it is expensive considering that the "security guard" is there just for show, or maybe its because Campostella and a NOT SO GREAT part of town is literally down the street from the complex. The complex is surrounded by this not so great part of town. The security guard is just for show because they let anyone in. With my rent increasing to $810 for a 1 bd/1 bath this year, I don't know if that is worth it. I can find something lower in price in a nicer area. Maybe w/ not such great landscaping, but c'mon, flowers and ducks are negligible.

The Best In Chesapeake
I have lived here for 6 years, and have never felt more at home than I have at Holly Point. The feeling of a friendly, warm community to come home to is invaluable after a stressful 9-5. I look forward to sunny afternoons with good friends. This is truly my home. I would recommend to anyone.

Wonderful People & Beautiful Apts.
This apartment community is one of the most beautiful and well maintained communities in the Tidewater area. Landscaping is unbelievable. Green lawns and flowering beds every where you look. The drive through the community tells the story...these people really care!

The office staff is very polite and willing to do whatever it takes to please and satisfy the tenants. They are so gracious and kind. They wear buttons that say "I CAN HELP YOU" and they do.

Maintenance is superior. Not too bad
My roommate and I had a neighbor that lived below us that had a great number of unfounded complaints. An older, retired fellow, he constantly complained about us taking his parking spots (there are no assigned spots) and about our 30 pound dog making too much noise running around on the floor. My roommate and I are above average size men and we never made enough noise for him to complain. I simply think he didn't want us to have a dog, so we were forced to get rid of it. I can't speak for the rest of the residents because my roommate and I are both in the military and spend a lot of time away from home, but this one tenant in particular was quite annoying. He still lives there now, and we are being transferred, so keep that in mind. Unfortunately, the management agreed that the gentleman's claims were exhaggerated and irrelevant, but they essentially told us to "suck it up." For the amount of money we paid a month for our apartment, that's not the right answer. It seemed that the management was afraid to confront this man because he and his wife had been living there for several years, but I had hoped that they would do something about it. If they did, it was transparent to us and didn't work because the complaints didn't stop. Aside from that, it was a pleasurable experience living there and any time we needed a repair done, the workers were there the next day to fix the problem. We did have a problem with a leaky cieling, and the plaster overhead even broke up and fell on my roommate's bed. They fixed the roof, but the cieling is still damaged and I do not believe that my roommate was ever compensated for the damage done to his bed.

Lovely place, For for the money you pay.....
Its worth it to a point. For as much as you pay, the outsides and ground are beautiful. But the inside is nice too only cheap. You can tell simply things they put alot of money into the up keep of outside but not alot inside.
Plus They have a bad ant problem. I've talked to several residents who have an ant problem. I dont mean in the kitchen where to food is... ITs all over my Apt.

Lovely place would reccomend.. just check for ants first.

Pleasantly surprised
I rented my apartment from Holly Point site unseen because of a job transfer from the west coast. I was extremely nervous the day I traveled to VA to see what I chose for myself (you never know). I was pleasantly surprised to find that Holly Point was one of the most beautiful communities that I had seen. The area is just as convenient as my home town, which is hard to accomplish. The best part, fabulous apartments that are huge and a warm, caring office staff that will charm you I have been living here for about 6 months now and every time I go into the office, the leasers are always wearing a smile and are ready and able to help even with the tough stuff. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Downhill since I moved here
Over the last 4 years, my largest complaint is that the maintenance staff has significantly decreased in quality. Maintenance here would rather tell you why they can´t do something or fix the symptoms and not the cause of problems. My ceiling has leaked several times over the last 2 months because of A/C problems with the upstairs neighbors, mold in A/C unit, etc. that has never been resolved. Ground maintenance is exceptional - wish I could say the same for the internal maintenance. Walls are fairly thin, you can hear (muffled) conversations through the walls, and definitely music. Rent increases every year. Although spacious, not worth the $$ for lack of service.
